Eastenders - anyone?

There's still lots of launderettes in East London. You can either have self service, or ask for it to be serviced while you're at work and pick it up ironed that evening. Our DSiL uses one weekly to wash the team's football kit. The person on duty always removes the washing from the machine if you're not around.
We also have 3 in the neighbouring seaside town, maybe because there are so many holidaymakers there?

Talking of Albert Square establishments, wasn't it amazing how quickly the Queen Vic was restored?

I imagine, also, that restaurants, guest houses, etc, maybe make use of the launderette.

However, the wealthier residents of Albert Square appear not to own washing machines for some reason - maybe it's because they all seem to live in poky kitchens... although that could be an illusion because half of the kitchen is occupied by the film crew .

If I had a launderette near by, I'd, probably make use of it on occasions - like taking the bedding to be washed after a family visit, or for pet bedding.

It's a soap - drama, so I guess one has to suspend belief in real life...

I gave up watching it about 10 years ago, due to the shouting and horrible storylines, although I did record and watch bits over the 40th anniversary. However, I happened to be watching the One Show on the 8th of May (VE day) and when Eastenders started, it was in black and white, showing the aftermath of the bombs in London. It caught my interest and I watched the entire episode. It was very emotional and well written and acted, and I was so glad that I saw it.

I have spent 53 years in Wales but I do not have a Welsh accent when speaking English, although Welsh is my first language. I attended a girls grammar school in Liverpool where we were taught have to speak "properly". I lived n Liverpool for the first 30 years of my life, that wonderful city, the crucible that formed me.

I stopped watching about ten years ago I just found it so depressing, I sometimes catch the last few minutes when switching over and it’s still depressing.my only real beef with it is that the ads for not only Eastenders, but all the soaps are sometimes quite shouty and aggressive when young children are still watching . Most of us don’t go through everyday lives shouting aggressively do we.

I still dip in and out of Eastenders due to European football being on and my sons congregate in my living room to watch it. I don’t have a tv in our bedroom. I don’t mind as I spend the time listening to my music.

I can usually catch up on what I’ve missed. In my town there was one laundromat which closed down years ago, but a local petrol station installed outdoor washers and dryers, which take bigger loads than a household machine. I’ve been told another laundromat has open up on the Main Street, but due to ridiculous traffic management system in our town centre I avoid the town centre at all costs.

The laundrettes in our town both offer ironing services. Which I use when I run out of time..

I noticed that too and the new Vicky is so unbelievable.. as are the son and his father

I agree, but find it irritating, as when Vicky was the young girl with short hair sh had an American accent, so the reversion to cockney after years in Australia makes no sense.

I haven't seen it. but perhaps that's supposed to be an Australian accent. acquired from living there ?

There are similarities between Cockney and Strine , some people (and actors) might not know the difference.

Can't get used to Fletch in his new role. I agree with others it's time for Cindy to go, her character is being used to create unlikely scenarios.
Anyone else think that Peter is an absolute drip and no support to Lauren at all.

It was very moving and I thought played out beautifully. Wish they hadn’t brought Ian Beale back though, he’s sooooo irritating and judgement (yes, I know it isn’t true too) haha

I actually like the way Ian's total selfishness was featured. It was funny how he didn't hold the door open for poor Linda. However, why was she there?

I think Ian Beale was in the first episode, 42 years ago. He never was a particularly nice character.

Aw, I quite like Ian, he`s such a character, I missed him when he disappeared for a couple of years.

Nicola is a good villain. She’s posh in real life! Has a believable cockney accent.

Teddy I’m just warming to. His acting was a bit wooden when he arrived in Walford but he’s getting better.

I've got quite a soft spot for Harry.
