As a film being developed by a production company in Birmingham. Wonderful.

I hope they use the original music. I have a cd of all the music somewhere.

I bought myself a Bagpuss for last Christmas. He sits on my dressing table. I was an adult when he came out in 1974 so missed out on the child experience. Mine can sigh too! Bliss!

In my experience jazzing up favourite childhood tv characters is never a good thing, I still haven't forgiven them for what they did to Fireman Sam smile

I was pleased to begin with, but reading further it seems it will be a cartoon - that is a shame - the joy of the original was the little toys being animated. I am slightly dreading what they might do to it!

Oh dear. A cartoon. There goes the joy 🙁

They should have got Aardman Animations to make the new film!

I'd presumed it would be by the original stop motion company. Ardman would be good but Bagpuss isn't funny. It's slow sweet seriousness is part of the charm.

I would be fearful if Hollywood got it's money-grubbing hands on the rights to lovely old Bagpuss.

They would try and persuade Taylor Swift to play Emily.

I had a lovable but unruly class in a,"special school" , tough 13 year olds, and we shared many happy moments with videos belonging to my grandson, then a toddler.
Our favourite phrase was,"breadcrumbs and butterbeans" used by the mice to make chocolate biscuits, our hero was Charley Mouse. Sweet tranquillity for a wonderful few minutes!

I hope it is done in the same wonderfully gentle way as the original.

I'm sorry but without Oliver Postgate's voice it will never be as good.

Remember Bagpuss.
A quintessentially English Children's offering.

Low budget, low key, simple and lovely. In the same vein as The Clangers.

Glad to see it is being reborn.

Do hope it will not be Disneyfied and. milked for every merchandised penny piece. Or have the politically correct, woke and animal rights brigade policing it.

We love you Bagpuss.

Or as the newsreader called it Bag Pus....🤣🤣🤣🤣

I bought my daughter the 30th anniversary soft toy of Bagpuss as they were born in the same year and she loved watching it as a child. I wonder if she still has it.

'Bag Pus'! Oh dear

We've just been to the Beaney Museum in Canterbury where they have a Smallfilms exhibit; lots of stuff donated by the Postgate and Firmin families.

Personally I loved Noggin the Nog - apparently inspired by the Isle of Lewes chess pieces.

My local folk music festival had an afternoon of music from Bagpuss a few years ago.
It was a very full house !
