Dame Patricia Routledge has died

I liked her reading the Alan Bennett monologues. A sad loss but she certainly had a long, successful life, RIP.

I had forgotten about the Alan Bennett monologues! You are right. She was superb in those.
And it's Hetty Wainthropp. My typing skills are at an all time low today

She was excellent in A Woman of No Importance -one of Alan Bennett’s ‘Talking Heads” series he rated her talents very highly. She was a very versatile actress. A long life well lived.

Fabulous actress, loved her in Keeping up Appearances and Hetty Wainthrop. We all know a Hyacinth! She was lovely on the VE Day celebrations talking to Sophie Raworth.

She will always be Hyacinth Bucket for me. I loved her.

I loved her as Kitty in the Victoria Wood show. A special talent, she'll be missed.

I absolutely loved her. She was so talented. Did people see her singing 'I love to sing in opera'? Beautiful singing but still with great comedy timing.

I always enjoyed Patricia Routledge's many roles.

She was an ACTRESS!!!

Dame Patricia was truly talented. Her timing and facial expressions were spot on to get the best laughs as Hyacinth Bucket pronounced as bouquet.

She was an ACTRESS! She was female. Taking into account Dame Patricia's age I very much doubt she fell for this wokey nonsense and called herself an actor. Show some respect for this fine woman

It's perfectly acceptable nowadays to say actor when referring to a female. Either actor or actress are used..

Extremely talented lady in so many ways, straight acting, musical theatre etc and of course the never to be forgotten Hyacinth. I believe she did a lot for charity as well

It’s so sad that another great actress and comedienne from the past has died. I am just glad she lived as long as she did. She brought a lot of enjoyment to many of us.

It is quite acceptable to describe female acting professionals in this way.

A wonderful and talented lady dies and all some people on here can do us bicker about whether she was an actress or an actor.
Some people are seriously weird!
It’s as though they don’t really care that she has died. They just see it as an opportunity to make a point! I wish they would grow up!
