just shown a photo of the late Queen in bed when she had given birth to Prince Edward and Charles Anne and Andrew are round the bed! A lovely natural photo!

😂😂
With Middle child I got smacked across the face for making too much noise forgot I should have cutch my pearls and kept quiet

Who did that? 😲

With last child I got left on my own because the young girl in the next room was making so much hullabaloo no-one could heard me shouting for help.
I'd left my pearls at home too.

It was the midwife who smacked me on the face Allira and told me to be quiet
We are going back to 1969 what you can do to a ‘patient’ was very different then
It was a different world where doctors would tell you to have a cigarette to calm your nerves and often have a packet of cigars on their desk
( mind you my little son helped me out and wee’d all over her when she picked him up after he was born and she was ‘showing’ me how to bathe him !!! He was my second so I did know how to bathe a baby

When my son was born, ( in 1974) in the middle of the night, hubby was the chief tea and toast maker for the ward staff, as well as us. Can't see that being allowed these days !

Goodness, Bluebelle, that was assault.

I do remember going to my first relaxtion class and the midwife taking the class told us that giving birth would be 'rather uncomfortable'.

Elaine C. Smith told the tale of the wee Glasgow woman who attended the classes and asked, “ See this discomfort you’re talking about, is it the same as the pain you get in the Southern General?”.

In hospital in 1966, I too got a slap around the face, as did the young mum opposite me. We had both asked for a cup of tea, we were told the nurses were too busy and, when we complained, we both got slapped.
As previously pointed out, in those days, you didn’t dare make a fuss.
