What a shame that Barbara Taylor Bradford isn’t here to see it. I loved the book, and recently tried to watch the original series, but gave up as it was so dated.
Really looking forward to this remake with Brenda Blethyn.

Was the original the one with Liam Neesom in it, playing the chap whose name escapes me?

Always thought how attractive he was.

I loved it the first time around, hope this new one is just as good.

I have seen the trailer and what a transformation for Brenda Blethyn. A big step up from her mac and hat. Wonderful actress.

I read the books a long time ago but never watched the series. Looking forward to seeing Brenda Blethyn. As shelflife said can't go wrong with Brenda Blethyn.

I watched the TV series with my daughters. We were all in love with Liam Neeson! 😋

I’ve been listening to this on Audible for years, after having first read the books years ago, as I can pick it up anywhere, so I’m looking forward to seeing this.

Oh yes, I loved the original series with the beautiful Jenny Seabrook.
I just hope that they don't fiddle with perfection, when making the new adaption!

I read the books,did say to other half that looking at the previews we have the obligatory sex scenes,yawn...

Hmm. I fell asleep half way through but was recording it so just finished watching it. I think I may have fallen asleep due to boredom rather than tiredness.

I'll give it another go next week but it didn't grip me. Shame, I was looking forward to it.

Hmmm........what? You mean the ubiquitous Amanda Holden won't be in it?

Certainly a nod to Emily Brontë as the dad carried the mother out as she was dying. The scenery and even the house shown in the landscape was so Wuthering Heights. Had the feeling that everything had been seen in other books/dramas. Even the reference to the wife shut away upstairs was a nod to Charlotte Brontë. Hmm! Will probably give it another go.

I watched the first few minutes, but all I could see and hear was Vera on her best behaviour!!

I couldn’t get Vera out of my head either. 😂
I’ll stick with it but I thought the acting was poor.

I watched last night, looks like it’s going to be an easy series, I do not need to be mentally challenged each time the TV is turned on.

I read the book when it was first published (1979) and have forgotten the minutiae of the story.

I also can't believe they changed Blackie's name!

Poor old Liam Neeson's been "cancelled".

Heaven forbid anyone who is actually a blacksmith having to appear on channel 4. Will they now be a "personofcoloursmith"?
