Just been to see the Elvis movie now in cinemas. It was a compilation of his shows before he became ill. It was brilliant and I can highly recommend it. 💃🕺

I've seen it and it is fantastic. I believe he is number 1 in the charts amazing.

I loved seeing his suits and very soon will be viewing them up close at Graceland

In which chart is he Number 1? I've taken a look and all I can see is number 12 in the Heritage Chart with Wearin' The Night Life Look. The Spotify and other charts don't mention him.

It is UK film score but also rising in uk charts. Sorry can't remember where I read it now

I saw this film yesterday - what a treat to see Elvis relaxed, happy, and truly at his best, with the focus on his music. Lovely too to see the relationship he had with his backing singers and band in rehearsals.

I loved it.

They did a DNA test on his hair and this is what AI says:

DNA analysis of a hair sample, featured in the documentary Dead Famous DNA, suggests Elvis Presley had genetic variants predisposing him to heart disease, specifically hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which causes thickened heart muscle. These genetic factors likely contributed to his early death at 42, rather than just lifestyle, say researchers.

Key findings regarding Elvis’s genetic makeup include:

Heart Disease (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy): A "crucial" variant was identified, which aligns with his known, severe heart issues (enlarged heart, irregular heartbeat) and his mother’s early death from heart failure.

Other Genetic Tendencies: The analysis found, or Biographer Sally Hoedel highlighted, potential genetic links to high blood pressure, obesity, glaucoma, migraines, and an immune deficiency (hypogammaglobulinemia).

Genetic Inheritance: Many of these health issues appear to have been inherited from his mother, Gladys, and potentially exacerbated by consanguineous marriage (first cousins) among his maternal grandparents.

Physical Complications: Reports indicate he suffered from a serious Alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency (linked to lung and liver issues).

These findings challenge the narrative that his death was solely due to drug abuse or unhealthy lifestyle, suggesting his body was under significant strain from inherited conditions.

I truly feel he was the most handsome man in the world and to have a voice like that was so special I loved Elvis and still do
His mum died around the same age of heart problems it will be interesting to see the true cause of his death next year, but it may never show the real reason, stress, prolonged prescription given drugs etc etc only what was happening at the time
I loved him even when he was overweight and obviously unhappy.
Never ever been another and never will

Yes I went to see it, definitely Elvis. He was exploited no doubt. I think he was quite naïve in lots of way. Just really liked him a lot.

It is terrible to realise the "hold" his manager Colonel Parker had on him and on Priscilla.
Apparently the film has been made from clips that have been found in recent years they are probably only now going through archived stuff but it is nearly 50 years since his death in 1977.

We went to see the Elvis film on Tuesday evening and went back to see it again on Thursday - it was spectacular, truly amazing

The doctor prescribed Elvis 12,000 uppers, downers in the 20 months before his death. At trial he was struck off but not found guilty of manslaughter, another court hearing in Tennessee said he had been unethical and over prescribed thusresulting in Elvis death. The same doctor over prescribed for. other famous people who died after huge drug use.

And back then - and still even today sometimes - it was thought that as long as a drug was prescribed by the doctor it's okay to take it 😥

I was a great Elvis fan, and can't wait to see this film.

Granra2 Fri 06-Mar-26 17:10:54

I saw it last night and it was wonderful. He came across as a very nice person and he was such a musical icon. Glad the film ended when it did. We didn’t want to see how he was exploited.

My mother loved music 🎶 smile

I loved Elvis even when he wasn't deemed "cool". I think it may be because when I was little, my mother, who lived music, dropped "the crooners" like Perry Como etc. immediately once she became aware of Elvis' music. So he is very much part of the bsckground of my very early years.

As a teenager when boyfriends made fun of me for being an Elvis fan, I didn't care smile . So I'm very pleased to hear he has once again gone to #1 on the charts. He was so versatile!

We went to Graceland 5 years ago it was fantastic also studio B where he recorded.

Interestingly he never wrote a song himself but was credited on some with others.

Elvis Presley’s autopsy report and related death records were sealed by his father, Vernon Presley, and are scheduled to remain private until August 16, 2027—50 years after his death. The move, intended to protect the family's privacy, has fueled decades of conspiracy theories regarding the true cause of death, which was officially ruled a heart attack

He was so badly treated it was awful really . I cant stand the actors pretending to be Elvis like others have said . Has anyone seen Elvis: That's the Way It Is? This new movie sounds pretty much the same. I'd really like to know if the new one actually has anything new.
Check it out here:
Elvis: That's the Way It Is
It was made in 1970 and has backstage footage, rehearsing and a Vegas performance. I saw it at the cinema and I also have it on DVD because it's awesome!

My parents took my best friend and I to see TTWII in Leicester Square for my 14th birthday, in 1970. I still have the treasured LP (but not the huge poster that graced my bedroom wall)!

I'm 81 and due to have a hip replacement, and really scared.
I understand you have to be careful for the first six weeks, which when you are a widow, living alone, is a long time.I came from a huge family, but they have sadly gone as I was the youngest, and my only family live in the USA. Friends have offered help, but I'm independent.
Is there anyone out there who can offer advice and caml my, probably irrational fears?

Hello Acegik

Your post landed up on a thread about Elvis, so perhaps re-post it again on the Health section. smile

I'm sorry I can't help with info about hip replacements, but someone is bound to come along if you repost in the Health Section.

Good luck flowers

I loved Elvis, this film made me cry in parts. No other held an audience like he did. He had a fabulous sense of humour, kindness and loyalty and it was lovely seeing him so happy knowing what was to come. Do go and see ut if you get tge chance.
I remember that last show and how upset I was seeing him putting his all into his show though so ill. Colonel Parker and his doctor killed him. There will never be anyone like Elvis, he was very religious and hope he did go home as he used to say.

The costumes he wore were exceptionally heavy. Earlier ones were around 30lbs in weight but eventually ended up at 75lbs. It would have been utterly exhausting wearing those as he had also gained weight himself. I can't bear to watch him at the end, it's just heartbreaking knowing how he was forced to perform and how he suffered.

I love his earlier performances for this reason, he looks so cheerful and cheeky, just a youngster enjoying himself. In his later performances you can see the stress and the strain that life’s excesses have caused, his mental health here is every bit as bad as his physical health.
A life in the limelight without the care and sensible advice he needed took its toll as it does with so many youngsters swallowed up and than spat out by the music industry.

I saw it yesterday. Superb unseen footage, I didn't appreciate Elvis when I was growing up, in fact I didn't like him at all or thought I didn't, The Beatles were everything and to me he was a leftover from a bygone era. In the last few years I've come to appreciate what an extraordinary talent he was. He had it all, the voice and sublime showmanship, I've never seen another performer who built the affinity he obviously had with his audiences. The hair, the sideburns, the rhinestone encrusted jump suits, complete with batman like cape on some, the jewellery, the sunglasses so wonderfully over the top, not only the King but the King of bling like no other. There was an interlude during one of his performances when mid song, he took to lying on the floor, I did feel, given he was in a more weightier mode that maybe some of his trouser seams might be under pressure shock

It was good to hear him give an insight into his thoughts on many aspects of his career, the awful films, which he really didn't want to do. All in all it was strangely emotional, I can understand why some people were in tears.
