Apparently he is standing down to concentrate on his writing, but will be replaced. The new presenter hasn't been named yet - any guesses or suggestions?
I record this show, and watch it every weekday after my evening meal, so hope I will still enjoy it. I would love Claudia to take over but I am sure she will be far too busy to do so. It needs someone with a bit of banter and humour.

As long as it’s not Jeremy Vine please.

Oh I couldn’t continue to watch if it was Jeremy Vine 🙀

H of G’s is my guilty pleasure I watch on my own, sometimes with a glass of wine, then when it’s over I join DH in the kitchen and start cooking dinner.

(He would have been watching something else (boring) in the kitchen)

Don’t like the programme and for absolutely no reason at all
I ve never taken to Richard Osman either
Funny how we all have such strange likes and dislikes, Jeremy Vine doesn’t bother me one way or another
It ll probably be someone like Carol (let’s change the way I look
completely) Vorderman 🤣

Is Claudia’s new chat show starting soon?

Have seen some trailers for something with her, I assume it’s chat.

Think it's Friday 13th

☹️
I like RO and HOG so am sad now.I love his books but HOG won’t be the same without his relaxed laid back style and humour.

H of G is my guilty pleasure too. I like Richard Osman and I think he’ll be a hard act to follow.

keepingquiet Tue 03-Mar-26 15:40:13

Is this the show that only has celebrities on?

I've watched it a few times but it isn't for me.

I haven't read his books either- seems a nice enough guy but not my cup of tea.

I like Richard osman but never really took to house of games.
I still miss him on pointless.
Some of his replacements are ok but some are awful.

oh please no ...not Carol...( I can't smile )....just laugh too loud Vorderman

Sadgrandma Wed 04-Mar-26 07:12:15

Pointless has never been the same without him so I doubt House of Games will be. Please not Claudia or Jeremy Vine!😱

He’s the only person in the media who when I hear his voice or see him I switch off or change Chanel’s 😡

I have never liked RO. As an ex professional editor, having seen so many talented people have their excellent manuscripts rejected by the big publishing houses, I resent the way in which he got a lucrative publishing contract. Had he been ‘Joe Bloggs’ his novels would never have been supported. The publishers rely on his fame to sell the books, rather than the quality of the story.

It would need to be someone who, like Richard, doesn't put themselves in the limelight, speaks quietly and never ridicules the contestants (who are often, ridiculously stupid. And being on camera should be no excuse for those "celebrities")

There are probably several who fit the bill, but we may not have heard of them, just because they do keep themselves in the background.

I'm not a fan,but I like Richard Osman .
I watch it occasionally.
I don't think that Claudia would be suitable.
I think that she was great on Strictly.

Maybe someone new and not familiar.

With due respect, perhaps editors are not always right.

The books would not have sold to become the amongst the fastest and best selling in UK history if they were not so appealing to many, becoming extremely popular both here and overseas.
Not to everyone's taste, perhaps (not yours, by the sounds of it) but certainly enjoyed by millions.

Claudia seems to have plenty of work on, so how about Tess Daly? An experienced and very competent presenter, she deserves a show of her own.
I like Richard Osman but I can't seem to get into his books somehow.

rowyn Wed 04-Mar-26 14:02:24

Well, 'keepingquiet,' may I suggest that you don't bother reading his books.. They have Infantile themes, very basic vocabulary and goodness knows how he has managed to sell them so well. Or rather, maybe he should be congratulated on finding a very clever publisher.
I do like the quiz, but wont miss him.

In't Alan Carr trending at the moment.....................???

Jettgran Wed 04-Mar-26 14:51:54

How about Victoria Coren Mitchell, who does Only Connect?

missdeke Wed 04-Mar-26 15:15:36

I stopped watching Pointless after he left as it wasn't the same any more, I will give HoG a try after he leaves but will have to give it a miss if the new presenter doesn't gel with me. The right presenter is crucial, I can't even look at Jeremy Vine these days without bringing to mind Craig Revill Horwood's description of him looking like a demented stick insect when he danced. I rarely watch This Morning now as Cat Deeley is completely the wrong presenter on this show for me. I wonder who will get the job?

Foxyferret Wed 04-Mar-26 15:20:21

Not Allison Hammond, she gets on my nerves always cackling.

Luckygirl3 Wed 04-Mar-26 15:24:01

That is what I like about him.

Seabear Wed 04-Mar-26 15:48:15

Maybe his wife? They met on the show and she was cast in the Thursday Murder Club film so who knows how far the nepotism will extend?
