Anyone watching? Quite enjoying it so far!

I loved Anne of Green Gables too, I remember when she tried to dye her hair dark as she hated her ginger hair and it came out green as she used ink ( I think)😁

I must now reread all the Austen books.

Something Anne Shirley and I had in common! Green hair! I didn't use ink, it was a supposed hair colourant.

I loved Anne of Green Gables. I particularly enjoyed a BBC adaptation, I think it was in the 70’s. Marilla was one of my favourite characters.

Loved the book and have now watched two episodes and really enjoying it. Like Oreo I am going to read Jane Austen again, Pride and Prejudice first.

Is anyone still watching this?

There was a really funny bit last night where Mary was in a boat. It was like Mr Darcy with the wet shirt but x2. I hope Mary and Tom end up together.

Oh yes, that was rather funny!
But not a patch on a wet Mr. Poldark for me!

This program Iike a Big Hug! It's such a delight on a Sunday evening.
Last night with the "Double Darcy" wet shirt was priceless.

This is one of those shows, I will watch again in the future.

I was very late to this excellent series, sometimes I'm a bit oh not more Jane Austen AGAIN! I take it all back, excellent and the actress who played poor put upon Mary, who just made me believe in how she conveyed all the emotions expressed by Mary, superb!. What a bitch of a mother shock well played by Ruth Jones.

Such a lovely ending.

I've enjoyed it all so much and yes the actress who played Mary was superb and the others too were excellent especially Tom.

Yes I enjoyed that version too, Anne was played by Kim Braden the daughter of Bernard Braden and Barbara Kelly. The more recent Anne With An E is pretty good too and Marilla is played very well by Geraldine James.

I agree, it’s definitely worth a second watch. The acting is so good, there maybe nuances I have missed. I loved Indira Varma as Mrs Gardiner !

Maremia Mon 13-Apr-26 07:31:45

Indira Varma has such a range. So lovely and kind in this, so coldly evil in a recent spy story.

Yes, she's what I'd call a really intelligent actress.
