Spoiler alert
Just finished it! 💘💘

Recording it!

Finished it today. Some excruciating cliff hangers. However, a satisfying conclusion. No spoilers. Mary was very well played.

The actress who plays Mary is superb . Her facial expressions very clever

I watched episodes 6,7, and 8. I’m saving 9 & 10 for tomorrow.

I’m on episode 9 right now it’s so addictive! I love Mary and her mother and 3 of her 4 sisters are incredibly mean to her aren’t they? Plus of course the mother. Maybe laid on with a trowel there a little too much?

Just finished it! What a lovely series. Can we have more like this please? 😀

Just finished it. Loved it.

Just finished it too. What a brilliant series. Great acting from Ella Bruccoleri and Ruth Jones.

Finished it today and I loved it too. I can't help thinking Mrs Bennett was just a bit too spiteful to Mary though. But what on earth happened to Darcy? he didn't utter a word and hid behind his newspaper when he wasn't having a 'seasonal headache' and escaping from the family gatherings. I know he couldn't stand Mrs Bennett but surely as a man of decorum, he wouldn't have shunned all of the visitors, he'd have made the effort for good manners sake?

I finished it yesterday after a binge watch. I agree sassenach512 that Mrs Bennet was spiteful and a bully. Mary was terrific.

I'm now watching "Lark Rise to Candleford" on Channel 4 catch up. I needed more bonnets!!

Love this series, I've been eeking it out and enjoyed episode 5 last night. Imagine my delight when thes little corner info box said episode 6 would be starting in 14 seconds!
I'd no idea and thought we would be waiting monthssunshine
Oh the joys of being 'out of the loop'grin

So enjoying this series. I would recommend the book.

I've finished it too. A little disappointed at the ending though.
Mary could've won a fortune betting on the horse race and swanned off to Italy on her own!

Finished part 6 when it was time to go to bed, but couldn't leave the cliff hanger 'proposal', so watched the next one on the iplayer. Mary's part is played so well!

We watched 3 of the new episodes last night. I could have kept going - it had me hanging on for more. I love the way the director has the sisters behave! There's a humour to it.

I’m away ATM so it’ll be something to look forward to when I get home on Wednesday.

just finished the last episodes, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Ella Brucolleri"Mary" was wasted on CTMW, I hope this launches a great career for her.

That would have been out of character; Jane Austen's Mr D was a rude snob, especially about the Bennet family. He hasn't changed.

I never thought I'd have a kind thought about Mr Collins , interesting to have him and Mrs Bennet herself put into some more sympathetic context.

It wasn’t a series but the serialisation of a novel, which itself was a spin-off from Pride and Prejudice.
God save us from an ongoing «series» further diluting the period charm , characterisation and storylines .

Aveline Mon 30-Mar-26 13:19:35

It was just a serialised TV dramatisation of an enjoyable novel. I've read the novels and would look forward to seeing how Mary gets on in her life.

As far as I can see this is the only other book Janice Hadlow has published. Did you mean the novels of Jane Austen ?

PS @Aveline - your know Mary Bennet wasn’t real don’t you? gringrin
