I saw this Metro review, apparently this version is more sympathetic to the Osage people whereas the original series and books weren’t.
When I re-read the books I was surprised how much information there was on preserving the meat and fruit and vegetables to get them through the Winter.
The Waltons and Little House on the Prairie were staples on our TV back in the day. Lovely heartwarming stories and the actors who played the main characters became so familiar to us over time. Can’t imagine that a remake will be able to replace that but a new generation will probs enjoy it.
The remake of 'A Woman of Substance' was atrocious. I watched the first episode and gave up. Made to allow for all of he woke agendas including a midget brother. WHAT??!!!!
Whatever could have led Brenda Blethyn to get involved with such dross?
P.S. I was probably totally spoiled as just a few months before I had watched the original series with Deborah Kerr, Liam Neeson and Jenny Seagrove - absolutely fabulous. .
I thought I wouldn’t like the remake of All Creatures Great and Small, but I have loved it! I’ll definitely look out for Little House on the Prairie remake as I loved all the books and remember the original tv series.
I was obsessed with the original. I read all the books as well! I think I'll have to give the remake a look to see what it's like. I imagine it will be a hot topic when I next have a get-together with my friends of the same age!
This version is supposed to be nearer to the original books. I read the BBC article quoted by SD and the original TV programmes were definitely much darker. Have a read.
My DDs loved the books and the show and they’ll be watching the new version. My favourite book was The Long Winter, I got it out of the library so many times!
I'll give it a go. I'd thought like this about 'Anne With An E' after being a life long fan of the Megan Fellows version of Anne of Green Gables, but because it was so different it was easy to love too.
I don't think I shall watch it because it could never live up to the original. Michael Landon was my teenage crush. I loved him in Little House and as Little Joe in Bonanza.
