Ann Droid, anyone watched this? BBC 1

I am going to see the series through now and hold out for at least one laugh in the last 2 episodes.

Like Grey-duster I was very sceptical at first and was sure it wasn’t for me . but after episode 1 I loved it and thought it was so clever and so humorous I was really chuckling and I so want an AnnDroid myself

I would love to have an AnnDroid for myself too. 🙂

It is both amusing and very sad in a quite profound way.

The widow was having her needs met by a robot in ways that her family and friends had failed to do - it highlighted the plight of so many lonely people.

Chuckling at the idea that someone who enjoyed George and Mildred isn’t enjoying Ann Droid.
G&M was terrible !

George and Mildred was brilliant! I am happy people are enjoying Ann Droid and appreciate the serious message about loneliness it is highlighting but it isn't funny. Not a problem if it was advertised as a drama but it described as a comedy.

Maybe she likes 'Mrs Browns Boys?'Beyond my comprehension that such a programme should be made.

Mrs Brown's boys is the absolute worst programme, not sure how it keeps getting another series.

I agree about mrs browns boys I can’t watch it. G and m was funny in its day,.
Android grew on me . A few funny moments but mainly poignant.

I love it.

Sue Johnston is easy to connect with as the mature Mum being manipulated by her worse-than-useless and utterly selfish son, Michael (Kevin from 'Motherland') who hires the re-programmed robot to look after his Mum because he can't be arsed.

But Linda, the robot, is more on Mum's side than he realizes.......great stuff!

Also, Sue Johnston plays her character marvellously realistically - grey hair, wrinkles and all. If this were made by Hollywood she would be styled with big hair, big teeth, the complexion of an 18 year old and Kim Kardashian's figure.

But Sue Johnston and Diane Morgan, who co-wrote this, have kept it well and truly grounded.

5 stars!

I didn’t fancy this from the trailers, thought it looked silly.

Nothing much on the other night, so gave it a go.

I really liked it. Seen 4 episodes so far. The first one made me cry, I thought it very poignant in parts.

Will watch the remaining two soon, half hour episodes suit me very well.

I find it very funny 🤷‍♀️ brilliantly observed characters.

Another vote for this insightful series from me. I enjoyed the wry humour and the way that it showed the necessity of courage in old age. As so many of us know.

Unless it shows the set up between Sue and Linda, living with Michael and Melody.

I hope they tidy Michael up a bit - he made me want to scratch!!
