I’m still trying to digest it. It goes back and forwards and the two young characters are so similar it is difficult to decide who is who who when the they grow older. Can’t decide whether Iwill give it more than another episode. It’s based on a book which I expect is straight forward.

I agree. It’s confusing and disturbing but I’ll watch another episode before I decide whether or not to ditch it.

Yes, I’ve watched the episodes, it’s ok, like you say it’s difficult to see who’s who when older. It not an exciting watch.

I started it but didn’t take to it Maybe I should have stuck with it butI usually i know if I m going to like something

I watched the first 10 minutes, but wasn’t enthused from the trailers I’d already seen, so switched off.

We watched it, will persevere ( mainly because I like Luke Evans 🙀)

I'll watch it because I read the book a while ago, although I haven't started it yet still on Marble Hall. I've forgotten the finer points of the plot relating to it, I expect those will come back. The Guardian appeared to like it they gave it 4 stars

Yes, not impressed, more of these Sunday/Monday evening series, particularly on ITV, seem to follow a similar rhythm with various nuances.

I binge watched it due to feeling unwell. It was so so. A bit of a damp squib weak ending. I don't think there was enough 'oomph' in the story to pad it out over 6 episodes, could have been schuzzed up & made more intriguing.

Yes I watched it. Found it so so. Will watch next episode and see if it improves, if not, I'll give the remaing episodes a miss.

I listened to the author on Woman’s Hour. The presenter was gushing about it.
I’ll give it my usual 10 mins and then decide. But it’s not looking good from the comments 😥

I didn’t really fancy this one, but went along with it as DH did. I actually enjoyed it, so am glad I watched it instead of getting my book out. I agree about the two main characters being too alike in looks though. Mind you, I am face blind. grin

Watched it for about half an hour. I couldn't work out who was who and what the relationships were hence I didn't become invested in any of the characters and didn't really care what happened.

Did watch last night as I’d quite enjoyed the book. It was just OK. Am recording it so will opt for Michael Palin this evening.

I haven’t watched it yet but have read the book . Although it was a few years ago .

I was intrigued to watch it after seeing the trailer and do like the actor, Luke Evans. I found the story confusing at first but persevered and after the second episode it became more interesting. I think I will carry on watching it.

It does come across as somewhat disjointed, I'd read the book so much of the plot came back to me, I don't remember the book being particularly confusing as the programme appears to be, Would I have been able to follow it if hadn't already read it, I'm not sure!

Watched the first episode as reviews were positive but I didnt like it.
Formulaic and predictable. Life's too short for medioce TV series.
Plenty of good stuff to watch, listen to or read!

I found it very confusing and the twist last night was so ridiculous, anyone agreeing to that would be mad.

HowVeryDareYou2 Tue 13-Oct-26 18:00:04

I watched about 10 minutes of the 1st episode and kept thinking it would get better. It didnt. Does anyone in real life actually say "FYI "?? I found it very irritating.

Self indulgent, entitled people.
They are another breed!!
That's how I feel after 2 episodes.

eddiecat78 Wed 14-Oct-26 08:12:32

I wasn't sure after the first episode but having now watched 3 I am loving it.
Yes, most of the characters are not likeable but perhaps that's what politics is like!

Allsorts Wed 14-Oct-26 22:34:29

I skipped through them all, what a dreadful lot.

Chestnut Sun 18-Oct-26 00:58:24

Well I'm really enjoying it and give it 8/10 as I'm sick to death of Police/detectives/serial killers/violence. I know there's a stabbing but it doesn't overwhelm the drama. Yes, they're all unlikeable characters but I still love Tom Cullen even when he plays these powerful obnoxious people, which he's so good at. Last time it was The Gold where he was just as dishy powerful and obnoxious. PS: Why is he not in the running for Bond?

MayBee70 Sun 18-Oct-26 21:52:19

I just hit upon it whilst channel hopping and thought this is rubbish. Then couldn’t turn it off. I loved Tom Cullen in Tresspasses and then watched Becoming Elizabeth because he was in it; that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it! Oh no, is this Lindsay Duncan as well? I love her, too. Oh dear…
