Evening all, hope all is well with you.

I'm not sure if I will be back here until next weekend, when week 1 of my 2 week induction ends, depends on company policy re. using their laptops for anything other than work!

I would like to thank ALL those G'netters who sent supportive messages though my year long job hunt, and if you possibly could send out an extra positive thought for sometime tomorrow (April 2nd) late afternoon, it would be very much appreciated!

I have sort of packed my case, there will no doubt be a few last minute things, but even so there is bound to be something that I forget.

I will be confronting my BIG demon tomorrow, in that I will have to drive from Enfield (having travelled from Devon by train) to Manchester, in a car that I will never have driven before, on a route that I have (again) never driven before, and with 3 passengers. (I would sooo much rather do it alone)To be blunt, I'm almost sh**ting myself at the very thought of it.

However, I realise that I have a piece of plastic and a piece of paper that says I am allowed to do this, and do it I will!

(And if I make that ok, then on to Nottingham, before DRIVING 5.5 hours from there to home on Friday) confused

phoenix I hope you eventually got a good night's sleep. I'll be thinking of you and wishing you well this afternoon. Soon this sort of thing will just become a routine that you just take in your stride. Good luck.

Good luck from me too. You will be absolutely great. We are about twelve miles from Nottingham if you want to gird your loins on the way home. grin

Oh heck, thank you all soooo much, as Greatnan said, how could I not do it with all this support!

I know I should have gone to bed ages ago (early start) and in fact I have already been to bed once, but can't sleep!

I'd forgotten about the M6 Toll, which is daft as they were one of my clients in my last job! (Yes, I appreciate that it may be hard to imagine how you could mystery shop the M6 Toll road, but we did!)

Anyway, off to bed and hopefully to sleep this time, thank you all again for all the encouragement, and I hope that all members stay safe and well, (and happy if possible, any circumstances permitting)

Be back in touch Friday evening, maybe before if possible,

Love to all,

R. xx

Will be thinking of you Phoenix.
Agree with Stansgran, you're in charge of the journey, have as many rest stops as you like - before you think you're going to need them - and don't feel you have to make conversation.
Oh and don't run out of petrol grin
Or put diesel in the engine if it's a petrol enginegrin

Good luck phoenix, we'll all be thinking of you and wishing you well. I'm sure you'll be fine once you get going. Like a lot of things - it seems worse when you anticipate it but once you start you'll take it in your stride.
Keep us up to date with how you're getting on when you get the chance

Sel Mon 01-Apr-13 22:12:01

seasider Mon 01-Apr-13 22:06:34

Good luck ! Manchester is a great place . Can your passengers not share the drive?

Ariadne Mon 01-Apr-13 21:53:32

Go for it, gal! Lots of luck, too. xxxx

Stansgran Mon 01-Apr-13 21:52:30

You are in charge of the car. It stops where you want it to stop and if you feel tired or strung up tell the passengers to be quiet. Have the music you like on cd . For long journeys I list the turnoff s so I know where I am in uncharted territory. Ask one of the passengers to tick the names off if you do this. Insist that the journey is a team effort with you as boss. After the build up it will be a doddle

Nelliemoser Mon 01-Apr-13 21:50:45

Good luck Phoenix! I will send strengthening vibes your way.

Gally Mon 01-Apr-13 21:47:28

Riverwalk Mon 01-Apr-13 21:13:42

Good luck Phoenix - just take it slowly with the drive and all will be well.

You've done this before - you will be fine! smile

MiceElf Mon 01-Apr-13 21:10:28

Courage mon brave! You'll be a star, and, if you do take a wrong turn, blame it on your passengers. And remember those pussy cats will be miaowing you on every mile of the way. X

Gagagran Mon 01-Apr-13 21:09:27

More positive vibes from me too Phoenix! The traffic may not be too bad with the schools being on holiday so don't be scared - you will be fine and have a brilliant sense of achievement when you have actually done it! Make your passengers act as navigators so you are not trying to do it all yourself. flowers sunshinewink

Grannylin Mon 01-Apr-13 21:00:20
