Afternoon all,

Please keep a few things crossed for me tomorrow, around about 10.30 would be good!

Thank you! smile

grannyactivist Tue 11-Feb-14 14:45:15

Now why do I have a feeling of déjà vu? grin
Okay then phoenix I shall do my thing again and send a heavenly petition your way - knock 'em dead! (In a professional and friendly manner of course grin )

Marelli Tue 11-Feb-14 14:49:47

Fingers crossed and good, positive vibes wending your way for tomorrow at 10.30, phoenix. smile

Anne58 Tue 11-Feb-14 14:53:24

Thank you!

I am still "working" at the other place, (although not set up on the payroll etc) but I am really not enjoying it sad , so I'm hoping that I get offered this other job.

Because if I don't, I will have to carry on where I am until I find something else.

mollie Tue 11-Feb-14 14:57:43

Oh dear, that's the worst of all worlds, Phoenix. Fingers crossed the interiew does the trick! flowers

Dragonfly1 Tue 11-Feb-14 15:03:41

My fingers are crossed too Phoenix; my DD was made redundant at Christmas and is going through the application/interview routine at the mo. Hope things work out for you.

Charleygirl Tue 11-Feb-14 15:08:10

The very best for tomorrow. Is tomorrow your day off or have you had to tell them that you have an interview?

I agree, there is nothing worse than working somewhere you do not like, especially if they are so old fashioned and are reluctant to, it would appear, move with the times.

Everything will be crossed. Hopefully you will find out tomorrow and with luck there will only be 12 year olds to be interviewed for the job as well.

Anne58 Tue 11-Feb-14 15:37:59

Actually Charleygirl I rather cocked up there blush

For some reason I had got it into my head that the interview was today so I told them that I had an appointment with the dermatologist at the hospital. (I actually had the appointment weeks ago, and now have a date in March to have the mole removed) They said that was no problem, and that I may as well take the whole day off as it is the quiet season.

It was only as I checked this morning that I noticed I'd got it wrong. confused So I told them what a numpty I had been, said it was tomorrow and did they want me to come in afterwards.

I probably wont get offered the job now as punishment for lying. sad

Bez Tue 11-Feb-14 15:41:05

Good luck tomorrow Phoenix - hope all goes your way this time and the job is great! X x

Anne58 Tue 11-Feb-14 15:43:12

I must say that the prospect of having to carry on where I am makes me feel quite anxious.

ninathenana Tue 11-Feb-14 16:04:31

Everything X for you smile

JessM Tue 11-Feb-14 16:06:45

Stop focussing on that if you are feeling anxious and picture yourself in the new role - and also keep thinking about how good you were in the old role that you enjoyed.

The years in the run up to retirement are so hard when you are either job hunting or stuck in a job you can't stand because mortgage/bills still need to be paid. I remember waking up every morning and thinking, Oh no, not that hell hole again. The mortgage finally got paid, I took the company I was working for to court for constructive dismissal (and won) and then, right out of the blue, landed my dream job. I ended working till I was 65 so I moved my own goalpost grin

Stay strong, don't let the bastards grind you down and go with your instincts. Something that's right for you WILL turn up.

Mishap Tue 11-Feb-14 16:21:53

When I was 16, I set off out of the front door to get the bus to the station to go for a university interview. In the porch I checked in my bag to see if I had all the paperwork and directions and realised that the interview had been the day before!

I rang and apologised and said it was because my granddad had died the day before - he had, but I cannot honestly say that was what made me get the day wrong, as I did not know him all that well.

Good luck with the interview. I used to find that interviews were a very good way of clearing the bowels!

When I had my interview for the Civil Service, it was in Whitehall and somewhat intimidating but it was sort of mitigated by the interview, as I was asked some really peculiar questions from the panel. One began "When you were a mother"!!! I replied that when I had left home I still was. another question was "What do you think of space travel" my reply was "I don't" So I thought that I had completely blown it, but I was employed. I think really is to remember that the interviewer is as human as yourself (hopefully) and often doesn't make a lot of sense!!!!
