Brilliant news phoenix I'm sure you'll feel so much better for something to do. (Obviously Mr P and they boys require no effort at all grin ) My night vision has got very bad, but I do find I'm better on roads I know, even the country ones. And I haven't hit anything yet!!!

Thanks all!

I'm feeling a bit wobbly, but hopefully once I have got the first day out of the way it will be fine!

I hope this job turns out to be what it promises to be, Phoenix. You've been tested enough now - it's time you got the job you enjoy doing. Good luck! flowers

Good luck for tomorrow Phoenix . Your 'commute' from the village should be lovely. I drove to your village regularly while my boys were at school there and the lanes were a delight in all seasons. By the time the dark nights are here it will all be second nature to you.

Well done phoenix and good luck. I admire your single-mindedness.

Anne58 Sun 24-Aug-14 14:51:33

ruby I didn't know that you knew the village! Where are you now? I'm not at all concerned about the route, I go that way quite often, it's just that my night driving vision has got so much worse over the past couple of years.

PS, Luckily it's a Bank Holiday tomorrow, so I will (hopefully) be eased in gently with my first working week being just 4 days!

I am pleased to hear this Phoenix I would think that being able to do some reasonable job would be a morale booster compared with sitting at home feeling fed up with yourself.

Can you give us a clue what sort of place you are working at or would you rather not post that on here?

Good luck to you whatever! xx

Phoenix we live between Callington and Tavistock and it always took me 55 minutes, apart from the night I had to deal with heifers in the road between Launceston and Holsworthy. Also DH doing the trip one night had to take the long detour when the Dipper Mill road was flooded. One of the boys' classmate's mother lost her car down the river that night.

Oh phoenix I am so pleased for you - proud actually, on so many fronts, that you have hung in there and succeeded when things were indeed looking metaphorically dark. The night vision will cope, just take it easy. In many ways it is easier when it is literally dark because you get a clue from the lights even before they come round blind corners.
Good luck on Tuesday!
