Well, here we go again celebrities moaning. Alex Jones is wealthy, was an older mother for her first baby and said she really wanted a child. So, she returns to work after three months. If I had been an older mother and wealthy I would have wanted as much maternity leave as possible. Is she greedy being so worried about her career?

Exactly the point I have been trying to make MibsXX there is a huge difference between doing a job you hate because you have to and have no choice and doing something you love because you love to do it .

I wonder if it is as common for men to be so eager to put the boot in about other men as it is for women to do so about other women.

I can't imagine how we will ever achieve equality in the home, in employment and in public life in general if some women insist on describing mums who stay at home as lazy or mums who go out to work as neglectful and disapprove of the notion of having quotas for women because "it should be the best person for the job" - implying that, in general, women are in some way sub-standard.

I had thought that one of the outcomes of the massive leaps forward in technology would be that working hours would be much shorter, so that both men and women could work part time and so more equally share child care. I think I'm right in saying that average working hours have changed very little in 60 years or so.

I like Alex Jones and I see absolutely no issue with her writing a book, returning to her career after 3 months , commenting on the disparity of wages between male and female BBC employees etc. I think they are all perfectly normal things to do .

I like her because she is not a prima donna and has a down to earth nature that allows for self - deprecation .

It must be horrible to have a 'Stalker' as she did and I thought she handled herself very well over what must have been a horrid time in her life. She certainly did not court any limelight as others may well have done.

Alex Jones made a documentary for BBC 1 a couple of years ago called ' Fertility and Me ' and it was very good. It is not on I player / catch up so if anybody is remotely interested in catching a glimps I have put up a couple links to short clips of it .

I am far from being a feminist but I think Alex Jones is not a person I would have thought would court such a backlash for doing and saying quite normal things .

Each to their own I guess.

I have no idea who she is but wanting a child and wanting to work are not incompatible desires.

You wouldn't think so, would you, in 2018!!

You wouldn't think we'd had suffragettes and Women's Liberation - are women their own worst enemies?

Anne Robinson in a recent programme asked school children to draw pictures of a surgeon, a firefighter and an engineer, most drew pictures of males.

What on earth does this have to do with anyone else. Personally I love Alex and I think she does a really good job. She makes it look easy because she is a brilliant presenter. What she earns and how she brings up her child are none of our business. Why do we still put down other women.
