To want to throttle my husband?

My hubby rarely lifts a finger around the house, so this morning, when he offered to empty the vacuum cleaner, I jumped at the chance. Later on, I went out to the bin, to find that he`d emptied it into the recycling bin! When he surfaced from his game a few hours later, I told him what he`d done, after uttering an expletive, he said "you should have told me", I said "I was in here, you were outside", he said "it`s your fault, you didn`t say which bin to put it in"!!! Since when has vacuum cleaner dust and bits been recyclable? And surely he should know that it goes in the regular bin?

number I know that feeling in fact if DH keeps me awake tonight with his insomnia I am going to throttle him grin

Nelliemoser Sat 08-Dec-12 23:47:37

Our own husbands that is, not yours! If yours had already been done it wouldn't be possible for others to do it as well. hmm
To bed NellieM! Night all! moon

We don't have a Christmas moon! We have to have a Christmas moon!

Whoops! wink

We empty ours onto the compost heap, so it is sort of recyclable.

Don't worry, number. I don't suppose anyone will notice amongst all the paper and cardboard.

I'm sure they get worse things in the recycling number so I wouldn't worry about that.
My sympathies re the husband though. You don't expect to have to do a training session for every little household task do you.

It's a well developed strategy Number. Do very little.....get it wrong when you do.....blame someone else. End result.....lower expectations of you & fewer requests to help hmm

I would want to throttle him too number, and I would have made him clean it out. smile

Nelliemoser Sun 09-Dec-12 08:50:13

Bags do you mean you empty your husband onto the compost heap? If so is that before or after you throttled him? grin wink

I definitely want to throttle mine this morning. angry

Our bathroom has one of those back to the wall toilets. When we had it fitted I asked what happened when it went wrong. The reply was 'When do toilets go wrong?'. Well, ours did this week! But apparently, it's how I flush it - it's always ok when he uses it!!!!!

Our boiler won't switch off either - but it's ok if you hit the valve really, really hard with the hammer conveniently placed on the work surface!!

I often want to throttle mine. It's baffling the number of things he gets wrong but his confidence that he knows better than I do remains undaunted. Loses his temper or refuses to listen if I complain that he doesn't pull his weight around the house.

And I'm not going to put a smiley or say how lovely he is apart from the above as seems to be de rigueur when criticising husbands.

I want to throttle my DH every day-especially at christmas when he affirms 'whats all the fuss'-when I've bought all the pressies and food and he just eats and receives. I think he was deprived as a kid. Also since we've both retired he seems to have forgotten where the vacuum plug is. I think men should be coralled off at retirement, so we can all enjoy ourselves.

Well I had to go to the sailing club Christmas party last night. This is not a glamorous party frock type of thing but a small gathering of people playing dominoes and table tennis in a near freezing clubhouse, so it was a thermal vest, fur-lined boot type of thing.
mrA not only wore his beanie but decorated it with tinsel as well.
There is now a season scattering of bits of tinsel all over the dark blue hall carpet, as well as two pairs of his shoes that for some reason he finds himself unable to put away in the cupboard.
I did wake up at 8.45 to find a cup of tea by the bed though smile

If mine had not slung his hook long ago, I would have throttled him, served my time and be out and free by now!

AlieOxon Sun 09-Dec-12 09:49:59

I departed from mine in 1979. It hasn't been all plain sailing since - but at least I haven't had a ball and chain to hold me back......

Mishap Sun 09-Dec-12 10:45:51

Ah kittylester - I too flush the toilet in the wrong way, ditto filling the dishwasher, using the vacuum, tidying.....etc.

My solution is to leave him to do these things - works brilliantly!

Ella46 Sun 09-Dec-12 11:03:26

Men are good for somethings wink but they must live somewhere else!!!

yogagran Sun 09-Dec-12 11:24:16

number - I think my OH does things like this deliberately so that he doesn't get asked again hmm

nelliem grin

jeni Sun 09-Dec-12 12:24:54

I miss minesad but there were times when he almost got throttled.
The one that springs to mind, is when I was in the garage pit in an old dirty sweater bathing cap and jeans , helping him take the engine out of our singer vogue. The very glamorous blonde next door walked by and smiled sweetly.
'Why don't you look like that?' Enquired my beloved.

Grrrrrrrrr! She didn't know a mole wrench from an adjustable spanner!

Bags Sun 09-Dec-12 12:48:26

At which point you left him to it, jeni, no doubt, and went to glamourise yourself wink
