I don't like the term 'seniors' as it's too American, and they refer to adolescents/teenagers as 'teens' not 'juniors'. I find it patronising. I don't mind being called an older person, because that seems to be where I am. I don't like elders, because it reminds me of my grandparents eating elder with their salad for Saturday tea. For those who haven't had the pleasure, elder was their favourite form of tripe, pronounced 'thripe' by paternal grandpa.

What a thread to come across at the end of a difficult day, how on earth did it get overlooked yesterday? Totally riveting from the first response to the last. Thank you all for putting a great big smile on my face. Hopefully young Adam enjoyed his foray into the world of his elders and betters. Gransnetter is what I am proud to be and hope to remain.

I know where you are coming from, I dislike intensely , Old Age pensioner sounds so very , very old fashioned . A real throwback to the bad old days IMO,

Of course I am senior to you, junior, but then you are probably senior to your younger siblings (if any). It's not a particularly useful term and I dislike it because I dislike being pigeon-holed. Yes, I too have (mostly) silver hair. If I were a blonde, I would dislike being categorised because of the connotations that word has accumulated over the years (bimbo... airhead...). If you can't pigeon-hole me by my age or the colour of my hair, what then? Does it matter. We are as diverse as any other group... and so is your generation which one day will be, dare I say it, 'senior'.
