Sick of Depp & Heard

Is any one else sick and tired of seeing the sordid details of their lives plastered over the media. Rich entitled people who just can't live decent lives.

Marthjolly1 Thu 23-Jul-20 00:26:11

But why on earth does the media give this all so much airtime. It's hardly of any importance. I just don"t get it. Who cares?

Freyer Thu 23-Jul-20 00:28:02

Why is a woman independent and wealthy in her own life staying with a man she claims abuses her?

MawB Thu 23-Jul-20 03:06:44

Took me a while before I realised it wasn’t the former Home Secretary they were referring to......

??

Murdoch rag being sued, so bound to be continuously plastered everywhere.

Ohmother Thu 23-Jul-20 07:21:11

I think Amber was misnamed. She should have been called Red. She has such rages. (Allegedly)

EllanVannin Thu 23-Jul-20 07:32:01

They certainly deserve each other ! 6 of one and half a dozen of the other when it comes to their ways of life.

The whole lot of them make me sick, so affected and narcissistic. I've got no time for them.

I've never liked Depp anyway and have always thought that there was " something missing " !

Nortsat Thu 23-Jul-20 07:45:17

This issue has been an item on C4 news every evening. It’s been hard to avoid. It all seems sordid and horrible.

Though I am glad that someone has the financial resources to take on the Sun newspaper.

However, during a pandemic, with the country facing a significant recession and unemployment steeply rising, it seems extraordinary that we have to see this matter, covered nightly on the news.

Scissordolly Thu 23-Jul-20 07:58:35

What I don't understand is why is it so newsworthy? Are they so important on the world's stage? Who decides what should be headlined? I can understand the tabloids as they will sell more papers but not why it is important on the national tv news!

LullyDully Thu 23-Jul-20 08:11:15

I haven't bothered with the details. Just not supercharger bandana approach to a face mask is more based on glamour/ chic than government recommendations.

sodapop Thu 23-Jul-20 08:31:15

Whether or not you read the details its quite sad to think this is considered so newsworthy.
Obviously there are people who are interested otherwise this would not be such 'important' news.
There are so many ways their money could be used in a more beneficial manner rather than dragging all this rubbish through the courts at great cost.

Kandinsky Thu 23-Jul-20 08:56:48

He had no choice but to drag this through the courts. He wants to clear his name and I don’t blame him.
His only other option was to do nothing and let her accuse him of being a wife beater.
I can see why this is so newsworthy - Johnny Depp is a world famous name and the subject of domestic abuse is very much in the news at the moment ( calls to helplines increased massively during lockdown ) plus lots of us are just plain nosy and like to hear the gory details of other people’s lives.

Iam64 Thu 23-Jul-20 08:57:15

Neither of them come out of this looking anything other than alcohol/drug fuelled narcissists. He's suing the Sun for calling him a wife beater. Given he was out of his head on drugs and drink for most of the time he was in a relationship with AH, I'm not sure how JD can claim to remember. He clearly has an awful temper as proved by videos of him swearing and smashing cupboards etc. She also has an awful temper, drinks too much and indulges in drugs so its inevitable imo that they'd lose control and fight.
This is a civil case, so the Judge has to decide on the balance of probabilities whether JD is indeed a wife beater.
If I'd been advising JD (imagine that) I'd have said follow the advice of Elsa in Frozen and let it gooooo. He'd denied it, AH doesn't have his level of popularity and I can't see how the awful detail being given day after day can help him (or her) in any way.

A match made in heaven ?

Johnny Depp and Amber Rudd
She'd soon sort him out!

Sparkling Thu 23-Jul-20 09:22:21

I have no time for either, I don't believe anything she says, whatever amount of money will ever be enough for her. She has however got the best lawyer who doesn't lose a case, so I don't hold out much hope for him. He is set on a self destruction path, admits to his dreadful behaviour but not to her allegations, should he just pay up even if he knows he is innocent?

Kept trying to think of a Home Secretary called Depp!

?

Duh!!!

Calendargirl Thu 23-Jul-20 09:35:12

Had never really ‘Heard’ of her before all this!

Apricity Thu 23-Jul-20 09:35:42

Couldn't agree more sodapop. Even in the Australian media it is getting daily he said, she said, blow by blow coverage. It's their personal and private business. Why on earth does the media think this is of international interest? Schadenfreude? A distraction from coronavirus? A media driven circus? Who knows! Who cares!

yggdrasil Thu 23-Jul-20 10:17:17

It's the Sun's fault. I want to see Depp win to get the Sun put down.
Mind you , there aren't that many people read the Sun any more

Oopsminty Thu 23-Jul-20 10:26:33

The Sun is the Number 2 favoured newspaper, yggdrasil.

980000 copies a day more or less

The Daily Mail has recently taken the crown.

And a city in the North West hasn't sold the Sun since 1989

BBbevan Thu 23-Jul-20 11:16:54

As my mum used to say “ I wouldn’t go to the foot of our stairs “. I used to quite like Depp as Jack Sparrow. But he has plummeted in my estimation.Even if he wins, it is all very tacky.

lemongrove Thu 23-Jul-20 11:35:31

I think we are all tired if hearing about them Soda ...it seems as if every time the tv goes on, there they are.
We switch channels if they pop up.

seacliff Thu 23-Jul-20 12:06:08

I only ever see the headlines, they are impossible to avoid if you look at/read any news. I do not read the articles. It's all so tawdry and I really have no interest in it. I just am amazed at how long it is dragging on for.

If I were related to either of them I'd be pretty ashamed of them.

Thanks MawB, the penny had dropped after some thought!

Smileless2012 Thu 23-Jul-20 16:29:51

I could be wrong but I thought this all became public knowledge during their divorce and her accusations of abuse were accepted by the court at the time.
