I don't think I am being unreasonable in asking why posters don't read all the posts in a thread or the OPs responses. There are at least two active threads where posts are repeated or people make suggestions to the OP which they have already done.

Grannybags Thu 15-Oct-20 12:48:20

If all the OPs responses were in green as the original post is it would make it a lot easier to see when they have responded.

We keep asking GNHQ for this but still waiting...!

I agree that to keep reading the same suggestions by different posters can get rather tedious

Namsnanny Thu 15-Oct-20 13:09:45

No you're not sodapop!
But reading between the lines and answering questions that went raised is unreasonable in my book!!

Grannybags I've noticed this suggestion raised many times.
It would as you say be a lot easier.

Namsnanny Thu 15-Oct-20 13:10:47

aren't

Marydoll Thu 15-Oct-20 13:14:11

Without meaning to be rude, you are wasting your time. sad
This comes up again and again and posters continue to repeat the same thing, because they either can't be bothered or don't have the time to read all the posts.
Or they offer a solution when the OP has already come back to say they have resolved the situation!

The joggers thread sorry Kitty, is a prime example. wink

I have to admit, it does irritate me! Highlighting ALL the OP's posts is a good idea.

In my recent post I said I lived in Belgium and mentioned Belgian culture more than once but still got asked why I had not mentioned where I lived.
I also said I was Scottish and mentioned the traditions there but still got lectures.
It is one of the things which stops me starting posts.
In the site advertising on FB the comment on my post was along the lines of 'will I report her', mentioned nowhere in any of my posts.

MerylStreep Thu 15-Oct-20 13:28:08

I think it's very rude. To me it's the same as a conversation where you have said something and it's obvious people can't be arsed to listen ( read) what you've said. They are just interested in what they want to say

MerylStreep Thu 15-Oct-20 13:33:06

Felice
I feel your pain ? I saw that. I was sorely tempted to say for christs sake, how many more times does she have to say she lives in Belgium

EllanVannin Thu 15-Oct-20 13:33:36

Dead right MerylStreep.

Esspee Thu 15-Oct-20 13:34:16

On Mumsnet not only are all the OPs comments in green there is now (just recently) the option to “see all” which results in every post by the OP being listed in it’s entirety.
On a long thread (and they can be very long on Mumsnet) it is really helpful.

biba70 Thu 15-Oct-20 13:39:29

Ah but if you live in Belgium and ... are Scottish - surely you are not entitled to an opinion on GN, Felice ;) x

Gymstagran Thu 15-Oct-20 13:47:12

I also find it irritating but maybe some posts cross. I am using the mobile site and all the original posters comments are green. It might not be the same on the desktop site

felice Thu 15-Oct-20 13:51:21

Ha ha, I mean that in a good way, biba70, your comment made me chuckle.
It was the same at the beginning of lockdown, one poster even threatened to report me to 'the authorities', for breaking the rules, no matter how many times I said that I lived in the Granny flat in the family home in Belgium !!
Ok school walk now, then we are going to make lemon Drizzle cake when we get home.

dragonfly46 Thu 15-Oct-20 13:53:35

Oh dear I hope I wasn't guilty of that on the Joggers post Mary. I must admit that sometimes if the post is long I tend to skip over it.

felice Thu 15-Oct-20 13:53:52

Meant to say, masks are obligatory here, 1200€ fine if not worn. Indoors and out.

J52 Thu 15-Oct-20 14:00:27

Posters repeating suggestions already made ( by me) is one reason I rarely post.
Feel free to repeat the above ?

Glorybee Thu 15-Oct-20 14:05:07

Sometimes by the the time you’ve written a post on quite an active thread, 5 people have made more or less the same point at what looks to be at the same time by the time you’ve finished writing and then posted. We can all think that someone will make that point and then not bother, but if we all did that ??‍♀️

Doodledog Thu 15-Oct-20 14:05:21

If all the OP's posts were in green . . . . {grin]

Yes, it often puts me off posting if I see that a thread is going round in circles because people only respond to early posts. It strikes me as very rude - just as it would in a face to face conversation if someone ignored other people and just repeated what someone else said ages ago.

As has been said, though, there is clearly a school of thought that it is unreasonable to ask people to read the thread so that they can add to it, rather than repeat things, so I can't see the issue getting resolved either.

Marydoll Thu 15-Oct-20 14:10:03

Sorry, dragonfly, not you! It was the repetition of oxymoron, that got to me today.
It sounded clever the first time!

I'm in a low tolerance mood today. All the suspensions and deletions on GN are getting to me at the moment. GN used to be such a welcoming place. It's an over reaction on my part. sad

Lucca Thu 15-Oct-20 14:16:22

I agreed with you Marydoll it was that which bugged me too nd recently someone talking about their husbands birthday celebrations in Australia.....even after the event had happened people were still saying “it’s his birthday let him choose “!,

Marydoll Thu 15-Oct-20 14:20:46

Oxymoron has just been used again, even after I commented. I rest my case. I do like that word, but it's overkill. grin
I'm off out to the garden, before I get into trouble. wink

Madgran77 Thu 15-Oct-20 14:21:26

marydoll I tend to agree about GN. Have a flowers or a wine

Madgran77 Thu 15-Oct-20 14:22:09

PS. I am! The wine

phoenix Thu 15-Oct-20 14:23:12

I'm pretty sure that a few days ago when to person who started the thread came back to post, their responses were highlighted in green, but now it's stopped.

Does anyone else remember it?

Lucca Thu 15-Oct-20 14:24:00

I started a similar thread about reading the posts a while Back and got roundly told off! But it drives me nuts.
