To think that Kurt Zouma should be banned from keeping animals after abusing his cat?

Just that really.

I know someone who used to be a (hobby) cat breeder and had trouble with local kids who poisoned/killed a couple of their cats.

They involved the rspca who, because they couldn't 'prove exactly' which youth had done it, prosecuted them for not keeping their cats safe (despite them being on their property, in a locked pen and behind 2 locked gates).

The rspca seized this person's cats, went to court 9 months later, asked the court to make the breeder pay boarding fees for 14 cats for 9 months and to give them a ban. Fortunately the boarding fees weren't upheld but a fine and a ban for 5yrs was imposed.

This was a respectable breeder who followed all legislation and GCCF (cat version of Kennel Club) rules and did absolutely nothing wrong.

When I look at the abuse that Zouma committed, then compare it with this breeder, imo he deserves, at the very least, the same punishment handed down to the breeder.

The fact that he is a famous footballer should not mean that he or his pets should be treated any differently to the rest of us. His pets deserve to be treated with respect (the same as yours and mine) and he deserves to be punished in exactly the same way as anyone else would be.

Thoughts..

Exactly as GSM says. Lawyers are paid to represent their client and do so effectively most of the time. Prosecutions cost huge amounts of public money. The CpS has to consider the likelihood of successful prosecution

But surely a prosecution by the RSPCA would be funded by the donations they receive?

Yes they do have power to prosecute and if they don’t it will backfire badly on them.

Well that’s a glimmer of hope unless the RSPCA are actually a toothless tiger

I havent come across anyone with a good experience of the RSPCA, I have to say.

Do cats protection and dogs trust have any powers or do they just take in the unwanted /abused animals? ?‍♀️

MissAdventure Tue 22-Feb-22 12:09:11

I don't know.
I think perhaps the cats protection are a bit more proactive?
I havent ever heard of anyone going directly to them to report abuse, though.

Smileless2012 Tue 22-Feb-22 12:19:43

I don't think they have any powers Shinamae and very sadly it often looks as if the RSPCA, if you'll pardon the pun, is 'a toothless dog'.

They are a bloody dead loss.
I thought that they’d step up to the plate as they usually do when there is any publicity involved,
but they haven’t even bothered this time.
And the amount of money that they have got angry

Several emails to West Ham and still no bloody reply ?

lavendermine Sun 27-Feb-22 17:45:17

I had an email from the Football Association directing me to the statements on West Ham about a week ago.
I saw Moyes trying to put a "halo" back on his head yesterday, talking about one of his Ukraine players who is anxious about his family (which we do understand) and talking about the support he was being given.
I'm hoping that the RSPCA will prosecute.

I too support anything to help Ukraine but with him it’s just a deflection I think, he just wants what happened with that cat kicker under the carpet and out of the way…. From what I’ve read about RSPCA I don’t hold out much hope…?

This is a game they have played well.
Ignore it for long enough and it'll be as if it never happened.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 28-Feb-22 22:35:17

Not to us it won’t.

It would help if this thread wasn’t invisible.
It’s so frustrating ?

FannyCornforth Tue 01-Mar-22 08:20:43

It’s appeared! As if by magic! ? ?

Iam64 Tue 01-Mar-22 08:21:24

I’ve just read that some ‘fans’ are filming themselves kicking cats.
It was in the DM so as the woman in Dinner Ladies would say ‘it must be true’

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 01-Mar-22 09:26:38

Really???

FannyCornforth Tue 01-Mar-22 09:29:51

I have the dreaded Daily Mail here in front of me.
I shall investigate…

FannyCornforth Tue 01-Mar-22 09:34:42

I can’t see anything.
It was the first time I’ve looked at a paper for ages. It was inevitably full of horror
There is a very good investigation into women’s privacy issues though??
And some nice pictures of Helen Mirren with Meryl Streep and Lady Gaga

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 01-Mar-22 09:45:20

Is that our Meryl Streep Fanny?

FannyCornforth Tue 01-Mar-22 09:51:19

I presume so

FannyCornforth Tue 01-Mar-22 09:51:53

They look like they’re getting married!

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 01-Mar-22 10:03:44

All 3 of them?

Oh my God I really really hope this isn’t true ?
