My Nans favorite saying was..Everything has its own importance.

I love sayings--I think its because they are a form of guidance and I need all the guidance I can get..

On finding someone had left the door to the kitchen open and the heat from the coal fire escaping my mother would say, "Were you born in a barn? Put t'wood in t'hole."

As I vaguely remembered, It is from Twelth Night." (confirmed by googling) i dont know any more about it though.

When I was very young I loved my glove puppet of Prudence Kitten - somehow the name always conjures up this image. (aaah)

Why did my gran use the phrase" Make Haste" when ever we used the bathroom. I never understood it and can't seem to find any information as to its origin?
