Should we put OBE on gravestone?

Dad died last year and now that the grave has settled we need to decide on a headstone. Dad was awarded the OBE many years ago but we don't know whether we should include that in the inscription. I'd appreciate your views.

Thanks for the messages of sympathy and all your viewpoints. My sister is not strongly against it, just thought that it might look like showing off. I think I will 'vote' with my brother.

Well, we didn't, but his thoughts on it were made clear before he died.

If it was me I wouldn't want it.. ashes to ashes dust to dust and all that.. it's not something you take with you IMO, all I'ld want on my gravestone would be relationships: wife/mother/grandmother.. that sort of thing. No earnt titles

Yes, why not? He earned it, he was proud of it and he deserves the honor. It's as much a part of the information about him as "beloved father," etc. Also, Cherrytree makes a good point about future generations.
