Favourite Summer drink

Just going on a supermarket run and thinking about some nice drinks for the weekend. Fancying a fruity cocktail like the sort you might have around the pool on your usual (before Covid) foreign holidays. A mai tai, or a mojito maybe.
What are your favourites? ?

muffin

I've just had a vodka, lots of ice, lime juice cordial topped up with lemonade or 7up, so refreshing with a little kick, my favourite summer drink

Almost the same as mine. I prefer soda water to lemonade though. And a double vodka.

Mojito . Just learned how to make it (very easy) and it’s so refreshing.

Campari with fresh orange juice and slices of orange

Very cold Coors light with a dash of lemonade, then back to the red wine.

Pawnstar martini for me too. Alternatively, negrita rum with coke, lots of ice and a slice, chilled glass of chablis or agua de Valencia, fresh orange, cava and vodka.

Silent Pool Gin with Fevertree tonic.
We have several different Fevertree to ring the changes.
The Silent Pool is not very far from us so we like to buy locally. The water in the pool is blue so the gin has a blue tinge too. Lovely!!

I'm going to be really controversial and say I drink milky weak tea all year round.
However, a Blue Moon beer hits the spot but no ice thank you.

We were recently at a relative’s place in France, where a little grapefruit syrup mixed with rose (can’t do the accent) wine is a regular summer offering. The syrup is always available in supermarkets there, have never looked for it here though.

When it’s hot I do like a nice long G and T.
Do also love a Pimm’s!

Slingsby's rhubarb gin and Fentimans rose lemonade delicious with loads of ice. If you like a drier drink then Slingsby's marmalade gin and Fever Tree Mediterranean tonic.

My 2 favourite gins are both Scottish.

1. Hendrick’s with tonic, ice and cucumber slices.
2. Edinburgh rhubarb & ginger. It’s lush!

I don't drink much alcohol, but when I lived in France I used to have a Monaco if I wanted a long, cooking drink. It's basically a lager shandy with a drop of grenadine. Remembering it now makes me want one.....

If it's got to be a cocktail, then a mojito, but there's nothing to beat a nice cool cider!

Oh, so many, my favourites change according to the day and the whim.

Yesterday it was a grapefruit and elderflower infused gin with tonic and ice.

I love a long chilled cordial on no alcohol days. So many to choose from, but my favourite at the moment is Roses lime and mint.

I fancy trying the Lyre’s non alcoholic spirits in some mocktails, apparently they taste just like the real thing. Alcohol goes straight to my head so it will be lovely. Margeritas are my favourite, not too sweet and that lovely salt.

I love a gin and tonic but can’t bear cucumber in it! Some bartenders bung it in without asking and even if I take it out immediately, it taints the drink, horrible!

Aepgirl Sun 02-Aug-20 11:15:20

Definitely a Pimms, if I can be bothered to chop all the fruit, etc, but generally a rhubarb gin and fever tree ginger ale. Cheers.

Haven't drunk anything above 1% alcohol for the past 6 years, but zero-alcohol drinks have really improved in the last few years. I really enjoy a chilled rose from Natureo (@Waitrose). It's not too sweet, and tastes just like rose I've had in Provence. Also good: Waitrose low alcohol cider - very fruity and refreshing.

sandelf Sun 02-Aug-20 11:36:07

I like a Pimms No 1 - but half strength - don't like feeling woozy in the sun!

Bazza Sun 02-Aug-20 11:50:06

Take a glass jug, empty a bottle of very cold sweet Asti Spumante and add the juice of six fresh limes. This works best if the jug, juice and glasses are ice cold before you start. It has no name, any suggestions? Don’t be put off by the sweet Asti, the limes see to that, it’s delicious. Best drunk in the sun. Craftycat, I also live near the Silent Pool, love their gin with a slice of orange.

missdeke Sun 02-Aug-20 11:53:48

Pleb I may be but you can't beat a half of bitter shandy outside and English country pub. grin

missdeke Sun 02-Aug-20 11:54:24

Sorry an not and.

Juicylucy Sun 02-Aug-20 12:03:19

Pina colada I love them, I make them at home after being bought the shaker etc and all ingredients. Smells of holidays pineapple and coconuts.

janipans Sun 02-Aug-20 12:07:28

I'm a Red wine or Gin and bitter lemon fan but I went to a wine tasting and they introduced me to Harveys Bristol Cream sherry with ice and a slice of orange (and I like to add a maraschino cherry to be a bit more decadent!) - It is delicious!
For a long drink I like Guinness shandy (or Fentimans none-alcoholic ginger beer if I'm driving!)

lulusmf Sun 02-Aug-20 12:09:20

If I could ever have one again it would be a Campari and soda, large slice of orange. Wishful thinking!!

Llamedos13 Sun 02-Aug-20 12:54:24

An icy cold beer for me but only if I’m outside on a patio, doesn’t seem to taste the same indoors.
