I just wonder what happens to newbies ?

They post , they are welcomed , and then a lot of the time they are never from again .

Gorki Sun 12-May-13 21:37:03

I was thinking the same too.confused

well I am new .....and wittering on like crazy smile

Stansgran Sun 12-May-13 22:00:21

Wittering is good and a very under appreciated talent.

inthefields Sun 12-May-13 22:01:21

Inanities also a speciality!

Ana Sun 12-May-13 22:25:23

Inane banter is even better! grin

Hiya, I'm a newbie who came and went........ sorry about that. I do read posts every day.

I was having problems with my Auntie being moved from Yorkshire to a home near me in Cambridgeshire. She's settled well - although she has no idea where she is because of her dementia - but she is doing well.

Also my husband is in a home with advanced dementia. I was told they were closing the early onset unit down at his home...... I still haven't heard anything but have heard that a few have left so I'm still waiting to see what's going on.

Minder I see why you chose that name. I'm sorry about your aunt, but even sorrier to hear about your husband. When you've looked forward to sharing your retirement years with your partner it's very hard to have to cope with his dementia and then to living without the man you once knew flowers

I think it's great to see newbies posting and try to join in the welcome for new people smile

Am I the only person who finds it weird when lists of competition winners appear and there are names who have never posted? I suppose it's because I use GN mainly to chat and others are not interested in that aspect.

PRINTMISS Mon 13-May-13 07:33:00

I just like to browse through the latest postings, - I usually check on the 'last day', sometimes I join in, sometimes I write a long post, then delete it! Just a way of keeping interested in what is going on in other parts of the country, and realising how lucky I am, when I read what other people have to cope with.

Gorki Mon 13-May-13 07:43:10

Perhaps we should accept that some people just like to read the posts and find companionship in that and feel no need to post . For myself I feel a need to respond if something touches my heart and I got such joy from all the responses to the news of my new granddaughter . Just a word and a bunch of flowers made all the difference and I'm sure that all those in a sad place at the moment feel this even more strongly.

Minder I was so sorry to hear about your situation. I have no first-hand experience of dementia but I know it can be very hard to live with and you need all the strength you can muster. I hope you have some friends and relatives who can help you out. flowers

Ana , wink & grin

PS That was not a critisim of newbie"s , just curiousity .

Hi, I'm new but have mostly just read what others have posted because I don't often think I've got anything interesting to say, lol. I'm trying to get into posting stuff but just haven't quite got there yet.

Sel Mon 13-May-13 11:35:16

Well MrsSB you have and you just did. It's interesting you would think you haven't got anything interesting to say grin

Nonu Mon 13-May-13 11:47:54

Sel , I think it is interesting that you find it interesting that MRS SB doesn"t think she has anything interesting to say , bet she has !

Titter smile

Gorki Mon 13-May-13 11:48:20

I like it ! MrsSB wink

Sel Mon 13-May-13 11:55:44

Nonu That's interesting grin grin Shouldn't you be on a plane, or packing?

Nonu Mon 13-May-13 12:06:13

Oh Don"t Sel , I hate the packing bit , nearly there now , but keep being tempted to come on here and have an interesting titter .LOL

gracesmum Mon 13-May-13 12:26:00

Oh kitty - your point:
Am I the only person who finds it weird when lists of competition winners appear and there are names who have never posted? I suppose it's because I use GN mainly to chat and others are not interested in that aspect.
This really chimed with me after the Bake-off (I was so proud of my Toby the Tram engine cake - my one and only cake as a granny !!!) and then I wondered if it was just "sour grapes" on my part!!!

kittylester Mon 13-May-13 16:58:25

GM, I know it's not right, but I always feel as though I should know more about the winners if they are winning 'our' prizes and I loved your cake!!

Grannyeggs Mon 13-May-13 17:39:26

I also loved your cake gracesmum and am always amazed at some of the names of winners on GN I very often haven't heard of them. But I think there are a lot of lurker s who I suppose have the right to enter the competitions as much as the rest of us.

Grannyeggs Mon 13-May-13 17:41:54

Keep on posting Mrs SB, not having anything interesting to say hasn't stopped me grin

MrsSB Mon 13-May-13 17:43:55

I won a book with my first post and I didn't even realise there was anything being offered. It's both a bit embarrassing and also a very encouraging "welcome". Its definitely made me try to get a bit more involved smile

Nonu Mon 13-May-13 17:46:48

Grannyeggs , you say lots of interesting things .

Don"t put yourself down . smile
