I'm having a not-very-good day.

So far today I've:

Stubbed my toe and broken my big toenail off;
Knocked a piece out of my knuckle without realising and bled all over the clean duvet cover I was taking out of the dryer;
Driven self and little GS to Sainsburys with a loaded, smelly nappy sack on the car roof (meant to put in bin after putting said GS in car);
Dropped an open bag of yogurt fruit flakes in front of dog, much to her delight and GS's vociferous dismay and
Opened cupboard door and unsuccessfully juggled a precariously balanced jar of manuka honey (yes, not the cheap honey, had to be the manuka), which then smashed on the floor and chipped a tile.

Oh yes, and some ruddy idiot has dented my car on Sainsburys car park.
I need a hug.

I did the thing on the top of the car with my purse just after I'd been to the bank. Lost about £100

At Aberdour when the girls were young, they went for some impromptu swimming in their knickers. Hung them from the car roofbars to dry while we did some exploring and had our picnic.

Arrived back in Edinburgh with knicker flags waving.

How shocking! You'd be surprised what goes on in Aberdour Elegran even these days wink

Dragonfly1 Fri 14-Feb-14 13:41:59

Elegran grin! You see that's so unfair, Galen - a pooey nappy stays put and your purse doesn't. Sod's Law. My dad once drove back from the local shops with a dozen eggs on the roof of his Morris 1000. In the days when eggs came in a brown paper bag. I can still see the trail of smashed eggs up the lane.... Thanks everyone, today has been better so far......

Can I offer my heartfelt hugs too?

The car must be particularly galling....that happened to me a couple of times. If I clonked someone's car when they weren't around, I'd be mortified and I'd want do all I could to leave my contact details and admit responsibility. What a shame some others don't do that too. Even a small dent can be very expensive. We decided not to claim or get ours sorted - the car's rather aged anyway! I hope you can get it fixed without too much expense.
In the meantime brew and cupcake X

Oh, and I'd suggest treating yourself to a relaxing aromatherapy massage. You deserve it!

Dragonfly1 Fri 14-Feb-14 15:50:00

Thanks Rowantree. I am miffed about the car, haven't decided yet whether to bother with a repair, it isn't too huge a dent. I'll see what my garage say next time it's in for a service. I'm miffed about the chipped floor tile more because they've only been down for 3 years and weren't cheap. Oh well, nothing really in the grand scheme of things. Was pleased to see your post - wondered where you'd disappeared too. Hope you're ok.

Rowantree Fri 14-Feb-14 16:07:28

The tiles must be very annoying sad It's everything coming at once, I suppose!

Thanks, Dragonfly - I'm still struggling - trying hard to keep my head above water (hehe). Went out with DH yesterday into London - wasn't sure my energy would be up to it, but I managed OK, even with a very painful foot (plantar fasciitis). Was glad I made the effort. Today I'm trying to keep busy doing housework and trying to ride the inevitable anxious and depressive thoughts. I am meditating every day, which I'm sure will benefit me eventually. DD2 has asked us to help with the baby on Monday, which has lifted my spirits a bit, and we're going to a family get-together with MIL on Sunday (I will have to brace myself because DH's sister and husband are over from Canada and we don't always see eye to eye, to say the least - and MIL is sometimes rather tactless and makes critical comments). DD2 will be going, and DH's other sister and family, and we get on well with them, so hopefully it won't be too difficult.

Re the tile: could you get a local man to replace the tile for you, if you have kept spares? Alternatively a disguise job might be possible. Fingers crossed!

Dragonfly1 Fri 14-Feb-14 16:11:44

I've got a few spares so hopefully can get it replaced. I hope the next few days lift you a little; I know a little how it feels to live with that ruddy black dog. Sending you some t.l.c. and flowers

Thanks, Dragonfly - much appreciated! I tried leaving the RBD out in the rain, but he snuck back in again, leaving muddy pawprints everywhere. I'm considering garotting him, but I might get arrested for that wink

Hope the rest of your day goes much more smoothly - with no more mishaps! X

All sounds very familiar. Our car 6 days old parked furthest corner of supermarket car park and someone lets their trolley run into the side. Amtico floor in the kitchen 24 hours old when I opened fridge door and a glass bottle fell from top shelf, left a bottle shaped indentation angry
These things are sent to try us.

Dragonfly1 Fri 14-Feb-14 19:16:35

Oh dear Harrigran!

Deedaa Fri 14-Feb-14 21:05:49

Because of DH's illness I don't get out much, but I had arranged lunch with a friend on Tuesday. Everything went swimmingly, DD didn't need me for baby sitting in the morning, I got several phone calls sorted out, and then I went out to the car. Rear tyre totally flat!!! Called DS who kindly came out in the pouring rain and took the wheel off and got the puncture fixed, but lunch had to be cancelled and I was gutted! Why that day? I haven't had a puncture for years!

bikergran Fri 14-Feb-14 21:20:54

ohhhhh Deedaa what a !!!!??***!

Dragonfly1 Fri 14-Feb-14 21:30:45

It is, it's Sod's Law Deedaa. You have my sympathy. flowers
