My son has just bought be a Kodi box, so I am watching all the old Bake Offs, Brothers and Sisters and Mad Men.

Has anyone else any favourite series that I might have missed.

Do you mean All Creatures Great & Small, Charleygirl, I enjoyed that.

I was completely hooked on Bouquet of Barbed Wire, thanks for reminding me about it KatyK.I remember thinking it was quite risqué, but I expect it would seem very tame these days.

Yes, thanks, that was the one. I never watched Bouquet of Barbed Wire.

if you like spy stories try the Sandbaggers from the 70's I think very true to life as the writer was supposedly a spy.I also loved House ,Chicago Hope and more recently Endeavour and Geoorge Gently

The Pallisers - about 24 episodes so really good to get stuck into on long winter nights.

It's all 6 of the Victorian novels by Anthony Trollope and has everything from an heiress forced into a marriage she didn't want, to politics and murder, with a scheming little baggage appropriating a £10,000 diamond necklace - £10k then! - thrown in.

One of my all time favourites. Very beginning is a mite slow but all my family were hooked very soon into episode one.

Another good long one we've enjoyed recently is the original black and white Forsyte Saga.
And of course Upstairs Downstairs and The Duchess of Duke Street.

The Sopranos. The Wire. The Shield. They might not be your 'thing' though.
DH loved them.
Any Dickens ones- David Copperfield, Nicholas Nickleby, Great Expectations etc.
Inspector Morse. Lewis.

Maelstrom - I can only vaguely remember it but I do know for sure that it absolutely had me and my DD gripped from beginning to end. It's a thriller, first appeared on TV in 1985. Six part series.

Life Begins with Caroline Quintin and Alexander Armstrong. Having said that I may put it on my Christmas list!

Jayh Sun 23-Oct-16 16:06:56

Oh, When The Boat Comes In. I loved that and must watch it again just to hear James Bolam say 'Bonny Lass'.
I have been watching Grey's Anatomy from the beginning and also Nashville if you like country music.

BBbevan Sun 23-Oct-16 16:53:20

I enjoyed Larkrise to Candleford, when it began and was about the original book. After that it seemed pointless when it had nothing really to do with the book,Just made up stories
.

Could someone tell me what a Kodi box is please. Are they easy to use, ease of use is very important to us with anything technical!

Charleygirl Sun 23-Oct-16 17:42:22

Alima I looked it up on Amazon, I am none the wiser so mine will be staying in a box in a shop!

mrsmopp Sun 23-Oct-16 18:13:23

Alina, Seconded. I'd like to know more about this box. Do you just plug it in and watch all the above programmers and movies? Or do you pay for each one you watch?
Is it like having Netflix?
I'm confused as I'd love to access all this stuff but don't know the best way to go about it. Don't tell anyone but I still buy DVDs. How last century is that??

Alima Sun 23-Oct-16 18:15:44

Thanks Charley, I did too and that's why I asked the question. Some things sound really complicated in the blurb but much more feasible when explained in normal speak!

TerriBull Sun 23-Oct-16 18:24:35

It entirely depends on personal taste, but I remember enjoying Cold Feet from 15 or so years ago, This Life a series from the I think the '90s about aspiring 20/30 somethings sharing a flat, Bleak House, The first Damages and the first Broadchurch, subsequent ones not so good imo, Brideshead Revisited, Life Begins, Cracker. I've started watching an American legal drama, The Good Wife which I'm enjoying, also The Affair now on the 2nd series which has just been released here. Probably loads more I've forgotten about.

Alima Sun 23-Oct-16 18:29:52

mrsmopp, we still buy DVDs and didn't realise they were old hat!

KatyK Sun 23-Oct-16 18:55:04

I used to love Dallas back in the day! Also Howard's Way - remember that? All those padded shoulders!

Judthepud2 Sun 23-Oct-16 19:10:35

How about 'Poirot'? I have the entire box set and it never dates! Also love 'Morse'.

phoenix Sun 23-Oct-16 19:47:19

Sorry, just having a daft moment remembering a bit on The Two Ronnie's, "next week we will be featuring the memoirs of a disillusioned vet, entitled "All Creatures Grunt and Smell" blush

But back to the topic, so glad to find that there are other Cracker fans too!

Maggiemaybe Sun 23-Oct-16 20:22:21

The World at War was brilliant.

Greyduster Sun 23-Oct-16 20:39:26

"Mash", "Frasier", "I Claudius", "Cadfael". But my favourite was "ER".

Hilltopgran Sun 23-Oct-16 20:39:27

I was just trying to remember the name of the Sunday night series about a family firm involving boats, and Katy has just helped me out, Howard's Way! I used to love All Creatures Great and Small as well.
