Apparently Lewis Hamilton always wanted a private jet (and got one) - is there anything you've always wanted? And, did it live up to your expectation?

I wanted a Jackie Brazil necklace but it is soooo heavy I rarely wear it.

marelli At about 3 yrs old whilst everyone was still in bed
I climbed on the drop down leaf of my mother's blue 50s cabinet to get to the breakfast cereals.
And pulled the whole cabinet down on top of me.
Survived with just glass in my hair!

My paternal grandmother had a green one and a great aunt a red one.
I wonder if any have survived.
Mum left hers when moved to a new house with a fitted kitchen.

I wanted a tiny tears
But I eventually had something
much better.
A new baby sistersmile

An Orangery or Victorian Conservatory - and no I never got one.

I wanted ice skates and did get some then almost never went skating as friends had lost interest. I should have gone on my own, of course.

I wanted a bike and was thrilled when I got a 2nd-hand one. I'm sad for the poster who was denied a bike only to see her brother be given one.

I've always wanted to buy a plot of land and design my own house. I'm afraid it's never happened so I have to console myself with my interior design 'skills' such as they are.
Apart from that I can't think of material 'things' - though I longed for a pony as a child - which was totally unrealistic.

Having travelled many miles, throughout my career, my
dream was to take early retirement and open a teashop in the south west. Retired and purchased the ideal premises in an ideal location but never got round to the teashop bit.

A few things for me.....
A lasting loving relationship. I've given up. I haven't managed to get past 3 years. I'm 45 now. I have a myriad of health issues & I'm definitely not a catch. So I'm resigned to being single.
I'd love to have my own greasy spoon style cafe. I love cooking and baking. Feeding people is a passion. But money is an issue. Who knows what the future holds though.....

I always wanted to be a bridesmaid. It never happened, won't happen now.

meandashy Tue 07-Nov-17 10:51:40

Sussexoldbag if I ever meet Mr Right you can be my bridesmaid ?

schnackie Tue 07-Nov-17 11:36:44

gillybob I got a lovely large diamond for my 1st engagement. Next two marriages I had it reset. They didn't work out either! Finally gave it to my future son-in-law to reset one last time. He and DD have been happily married for over ten years! smile

Tessa101 Tue 07-Nov-17 11:36:58

I always wanted a sibling.

Daisydoo2 Tue 07-Nov-17 11:38:29

A mother... have now adopted my partner's mother....we get on so well and I adore her. Had to wait a long time, but count myself very lucky to have her. She always wanted a daughter and treats me like her own.

gillybob Tue 07-Nov-17 11:49:29

That's lovely Shnakie . That diamond was meant for someone ( in this case your DD) , just not you !

I would have only have ever wanted a simple ring but unfortunately never met anyone with any money!

Theoddbird Tue 07-Nov-17 11:52:55

Yes I wanted a narrow boat to live on. I saved for years then opted out of pension scheme at work...Took the lump sum. This year, in June I moved from where I rented to my boat. Dreams can come true even for 66 year old grandmothers. ..hahaha

Greyduster Tue 07-Nov-17 12:03:37

I always wanted to be four inches taller, but am still stuck at five feet, so no hope there! Like gilly I wanted an engagement ring, but we could not afford it at the time. I have since settled for an eternity ring (my second - toddler DS having flushed the first one down the lavatory! How he ever survived to be fifty I will never know!).
More latterly, I got the thing I wanted most in the world - my lovely grandson.

A clean, tidy, well maintained home! Never going to happen with umpteen GC and a wonderful but terribly messy DH.

Jules59 Tue 07-Nov-17 12:06:08

That’s really sad ??

Daddima Tue 07-Nov-17 12:10:37

I always wanted to play Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady and Anna in Merry Widow. I did Anna, but too late now for Eliza!

I’d like to play Lady Bracknell now, but don’t think I could remember the lines !

Caro1954 Tue 07-Nov-17 12:14:05

Oh Lemongrove - me too! A quiet, settled life with DD happy ...
Also on a lighter note - I've always longed for thick hair ...

mywaldren Tue 07-Nov-17 12:14:33

I always wanted a larder in my kitchen but modern houses just aren't big enough. In more recent years do crave an island in my kitchen but, again, kitchens aren't big enough unless you have lots of money and can affor a house with a big kitchen. How sad that I didn't crave something more exotic!

Scribbles Tue 07-Nov-17 12:17:30

I wanted some cloisonne enamel combs for my hair. OH gave me some for my birthday but they were so heavy they just kept falling out.sad
The only other thing I've wanted for decades was to move away from Greater London. Achieved it at at last and, yes! Best thing we've ever done!

W11girl Tue 07-Nov-17 12:19:08

Always wanted to be able to read music and I'm pleased to say I taught myself 3 years ago and then took some piano lessons. Reached Grade 1... and now teach myself to play pieces I have always loved. I would dearly love a cat. I have always had cats, but after my 17 year old pair of cats died in 2014, my husband won't let me have any more because of the pain I went through when I lost them. So I spend a lot of time talking to every cat in the neighbourhood or wherever else I happen to be!! I so miss the purrs and loving.

Yorkshiregirl Tue 07-Nov-17 12:21:17

To be shorter. I'm nearly 6ft, and was bullied at school. Not as much an issue now, but still would love to be 6 inch shorter

Sheilasue Tue 07-Nov-17 12:32:52

I always wanted a peaceful happy life.
Never got in though.

annsixty Tue 07-Nov-17 12:37:56

* Yorkshiregirl* chop of your unwanted 6 inches and Greyduster and I will have 3 inches each.
We will both still be shorta***s though.?

contrarymary Tue 07-Nov-17 12:43:34

Children, a husband, a dog, to live by the sea. Had them, no longer got a dog and do not live by the sea!
