Loathsome woman in every way - she and Farage are a match made in heaven

Grannyrebel27 Fri 26-Apr-19 10:33:16

I'm a WASPI woman and have had to work an extra six years because of this sneaky change to the retirement age. Still got two years to go as well. However there's a campaign fighting for our rights headed by Michael Mansfield (human rights lawyer) which goes before the courts soon. I'm sure none of this affected Anne Widdicombe with her privileged life style. On the other hand as I like to be fair she's never had a husband or children so I feel sorry for her in that respect.

Read this ab and then tell me I’m wrong again. FFS

I saw her interviewed by Louis Theroux and she certainly kept him in his place (and he's a very mild-mannered man)
I had to laugh when he asked if he could see her bedroom and she definitely told him that 'upstairs is out of bounds, you are not to go upstairs'. When he asked if there were secrets upstairs, she batted all those enquiries out of the park in that querilous tone of voice we all know.
She's a one off.

I find her persona somewhat unnattractive but lately I've been trying to rise above that and listen to her. She seems to me highly intelligent and honest. I do believe moving her party allegiance must have been very difficult after all these years. It is hard to hear her point of view from beginning to end because others repeatedly shout her down so rudely. I guess I'm interested in her because my party allegiance has disappeared too. Mostly by shame and frustration. I did watch her bagging the pen. Seems to me she did it openly and without any furtiveness. I have done the same at meetings myself in the past. O

Flipping AW she drives me potty, doesn’t live in the real world.

wot Fri 26-Apr-19 10:50:23

I like old Ann Widdecombe.

annodomini Fri 26-Apr-19 10:51:12

She's a one-off
Well, thank goodness for small mercies grin.

maryeliza54 Fri 26-Apr-19 10:59:29

She is a true misogynist - she hates women as examples on here prove. She is virulently and pathologically anti abortion. I sometimes think she is mad as well as bad

maryeliza54 Fri 26-Apr-19 11:05:49

I can’t feel sorry for women like her who supported women in labour being shackled and who would deny all females even raped children access to abortion. Whatever personal unhappinesses she may or may not have experienced , I’m never going to feel sorry for someone like her who would willingly impose suffering on others. I didn’t know about the WASPI comments but it’s all part of her misogyny isn’t it?

Legs55 Fri 26-Apr-19 11:07:30

I can only admire her for changing Political Parties as she has been a life long Conservative. I voted Leave & will be voting for Widdy in the EU Elections (she is standing in my Constituancy I believe). I'm fed up of the mess TM & Parliament is making of Brexit. I don't always agree with her but I like her honesty is there such a thing as an honest politician . I read her column in the DE, she speaks a lot of sense, many of you won't agree

Right now I'm off to put my tin hat & flak jacket on & hunker down behind barricadeshmm

Anniebach Fri 26-Apr-19 11:13:16

Read it maryeliza you are wrong

Anniebach Fri 26-Apr-19 11:17:47

She is honest, isn’t a ‘people pleaser’ , has she ever done a Corbyn , ‘i was there but I don’t know if I was involved’ , honouring terrorists !

quizqueen Fri 26-Apr-19 11:18:55

Ann is a woman who is not afraid to speak her mind and tell the truth but that seems to be unpopular nowadays, everyone wants things to be sugar-coated in case it offends them. Although I too lost out on state pension because of the age rise, I've always thought it was unfair for men to have to work longer. Woman can't expect equality and then complain when they get it!

maryeliza54 Fri 26-Apr-19 11:31:12

So you judge everyone ab against JC? That’s ridiculous. As for ‘honest’ are you actually saying thar however reprehensible people’s views are, they are not to be criticised as long as they’re honest? Really? And she supported shackling during labour - you are clearly reading a different article.

annodomini Fri 26-Apr-19 11:39:32

Annie, if she didn't support the shackling of women in labour, why did she then have to apologise to the House of Commons?

Oh, give it a rest!

Anniebach Fri 26-Apr-19 12:00:48

annodomini no , this thread is open to all ,even those who try to tell others to stop posting their opinions, such as you.

Maggiemaybe Fri 26-Apr-19 12:04:42

Of course it’s fair that the pension age was equalised, quizqueen. Nobody would dispute that. What is unfair is the way it was implemented with women close to retirement age losing 6 or 7 years. Other countries have managed a fair and gradual change to the pension age with every woman losing around 18 months. No other country has hit a relatively small group of women in this way.

It has caused real hardship to many, some of whom I have met on the WASPI demos, and it’s an insult to have someone in Widdicombe’s privileged position sneering at them.

Maggiemaybe Fri 26-Apr-19 12:07:21

Widdecombe, sorry. Widdicombe is the comedian - the professional one.

Lily65 Fri 26-Apr-19 12:08:33

""""But yesterday Anne Widdecombe, prisons minister, defended the shackling policy, which has caused a furore since prison inspectors walked out of Holloway prison in disgust at "over-zealous" security and appalling conditions. She said it was better for the women to attend hospital. """

Lily65 Fri 26-Apr-19 12:08:54

Pretty clear?

Lily65 Fri 26-Apr-19 12:09:38

I thought she was extremely rude on Jeremy Vine.

Please for the love of God, somebody tell me what they admire about this woman?

maryeliza54 Fri 26-Apr-19 12:14:33

Maggie I wasn’t affected by WASPI and I believe in the early days it was introduced very gradually. When I discovered about the later draconian changes I just couldn’t believe it or how governments got away with it. I still can’t

maryeliza54 Fri 26-Apr-19 12:16:06

If people keep repeating the same wrong point, I think it’s perfectly reasonable for them to be told to give it a rest.

maryeliza54 Fri 26-Apr-19 12:17:09

Some people like AW because she’s a misogynist not in spite of that fact.
