Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark here in Brackley but looks like a mixed bag of weather today.
A quiet day today , having a sort out of things , and hoping to get a printer fitted up, with wi-fi .
Mick

I think I have a perma tan since retiring NanKate but it’s arms and legs - I apply factor 30 to my face even at this time of year!

Marydoll sorry to hear your wrists are painful enough to need your splints. Did you find those half tablets you dropped on the floor yesterday? The precious ones.

Marydoll Wed 06-Nov-19 08:15:38

Unfortunately not, Urmstongran. sad.
I can't understand it, as my kitchen is fitted and there are ceramic tiles on the floor, so no gaps, apart from under the range.
It is bizarre. I'm going to have another look today, as there will be no distractions.
I meant to say, Nina, glad to hear your grandson got through his op. smile

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The weather is dry in South Yorkshire but the sun can’t make its mind up. Slept very badly last night. Coming down with a cold. I have a consultant appointment this afternoon which will take me further down the road to a hip replacement. Something to look forward to in the New Year☹️!
Hope Gilly and Mr Gilly are doing better. Have a good day folks.

Good morning from sunny North Yorkshire.
We made it to the arboretum yesterday and managed to stay dry but it was very muddy.
Today I am off to Harrogate to meet a friend for coffee. I shall then go to Fountains Abbey as it is almost on my way home. It has been listed as one of the top 10 autumn gardens.
Congratulations Dora. Enjoy your trip GG
Hope those in pain have a better day and hoping for positive news from Gilly

Good morning from Shropshire where it’s a dull damp day.
Nothing much planned today.I am going to make vegetable soup under DH’s supervision. He is the cook of the house but he won’t be able to use his right hand/arm for a couple of months so I am in charge? He makes a lovely soup using our home grown veg so fingers crossed I do his recipe justice.Last of the home grown tomatoes, peppers and carrots today.
Congratulations Dora and Nina so pleased your grandson is recovering well.
Sending good wishes to all unwell or struggling with other worries.
Sending love to gilly and hoping the tracheotomy yesterday is helping your DH.

Forgot to say have a lovely holiday grannygravy✈️?

GrannySomerset Wed 06-Nov-19 08:43:51

Lucky you, Alygran. We became engaged at Fountains Abbey on Christmas Eve 1961 (bitterly cold and frosty - beautiful) so it holds very special memories for us.

Neighbour training as a beauty therapist so am going for a facial this morning as one of her guinea pigs. Locksmith back at lunchtime (we were locked out yesterday despite careful arrangements to prevent this), and then DH has his U3A Latin group for which I make the tea and even manage the odd bit of translation and amaze myself.

Good news about the new baby. Commiserations to Marydoll, and thoughts with Gilly as always.

Gorgeous morning all from sunny Spain- I’m off down the coast this morning and it’s funny to think I could pass Urmstongran in the street and not know it!

Lunch out and a meander along the paseo getting my vitamin D is about as much as I’ll do today so best wishes to all with worries and hope for good news when I check in later.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Many Congratulations on the birth of your new baby granddaughter DoraMarr I bet you can’t wait for a cuddle smile

It’s a bright sunny morning here on the NE coast so far. Sitting in the ICU you can’t see daylight so there’s is no real feeling of day or night which I think is a bad thing for those unfortunate enough to be in there for a long time like my DH who is now the longest resident by some 2 weeks.

It was my DH’s 68th birthday yesterday. No cards, balloons or cake but “instead” his tracheostomy operation went ahead as planned. So he now has the ventilator attached to his neck rather than down his throat which will hopefully mean the swelling of his lips will go down soon. The sheer weight of the tubes pressing hard on the bottom lip means it has swelled up. They have been moving it from side to side but is just moves the swelling .

I was looking at his face yesterday and it has changed so much in this last (virtually) 4 weeks . He has lost masses of weight that at over 6ft and already slim, he really couldn’t afford to lose. He is being tube fed but seems to be wasting away before my very eyes.

No real positive news to report unfortunately.

Another worry is that he now has another infection entry site, which is probably why they were keen for me to sign the consent forms?

His potassium levels have fallen and his sodium levels are very high, he is now on a high does of insulin as apparently the feed contains a high sugar which causes a kind of temporary diabetes. His BP is either through the roof or dangerously low so more medication needed to stabilise. Infection markers are still hovering so more antibiotics are being trialed. Crikey knows what other poisons are running through his poor body every hour .

Well I’m hoping for a little bit of good news today (again) which is in short supply around these parts .

I do hope all of those who are feeling down or poorly feel much better soon and those enjoying holidays and good times continue to do so. Wishing us all a bit of much needed sunshine in our lives.

Have a good Wednesday all.

With love from

Gilly x

Good morning all from an Edinburgh bus where I have been to collect drugs for DH. Rather like for Marydoll there's a shortage.
It's fine but cold. Very pretty autumn colours.
Lovely news Dora best wishes to the mum.
Slightly better news i'm detecting today from Gilly
Sending you love and virtual hugs.

ginny Wed 06-Nov-19 10:12:52

Auntieflo Wed 06-Nov-19 10:21:05

Good morning Michael, Annie and all, from a bright and sunny corner of Berks. Cold overnight, and a bit of condensation on the windows this morning.
I should be up and doing by now, but can't get going.
Gillybob, just sending you positive thoughts and hope that today will bring you some good news. You are so good at finding the time to keep us updated from the hospital.
DH has already gone out and I may go and meet him for coffee later on.
I suppose I could drive, but as I haven't been allowed to, for 6 weeks, I'm not actually sure if I want to!
Have a good day one and all.
