Would it be considered rude of me to ask how old we are? I’m surprised for example to read if a poster is a great grandmother or is ‘going out to work now’.

I’m 65y.

Ooh, I wonder what you had planned to do with all those grans’ ages Marydoll ?. Thanks for trying anyway

Marydoll Sun 22-Dec-19 16:47:39

kittylester Sun 22-Dec-19 15:36:41

Marydoll, I just knew you'd get rumbled at some point!"tchgrin

PamelaJ1 Sun 22-Dec-19 14:42:44

Hey Rufus, Belle Vue used to be such a treat.

Marydoll Sun 22-Dec-19 12:50:12

Bellanonna, I'm not even doing that. Some posters were suspicious of my motives, so as I previously said, I'm just stepping back. sad

Bellanonna Sun 22-Dec-19 10:09:24

Again, Marydoll is only collecting ages. Nothing else

vinasol Sun 22-Dec-19 09:42:18

So many people are putting weights in kilos and causing me mental angst trying to see if anyone is heavier than me. So far not so I'm not saying in metric or imperial. All I will say is that I'm overshort for my weight.

Rufus2 Wed 18-Dec-19 12:18:42

Which area of M/C are you from?
Granny; Ardwick! Born in Ancoats Hospital, or was that "Infirmary? " Then lived in Baden St, (I think that's what it was called). Can't be more Mancunian than that1 Not quite within the sounds and smells of Belle Vue Zoo but near enough for Uncle Percy to take us there after hours, to see the rats finishing off the tigers' supper! Awesome! hmm
Bseen back a few times courtesy of Dr.Google, but of course it looks totally different now after being flattened by German landmines and then rebuilt. We were moved out to a new house in Wythenshawe, as part of slum clearance about 1932 , maybe a bit earlier, then Dad got a job in Slough just before the war. Quite a bold move for a Mancunian to move "darn Sarth"
Then we went even betterer moving to OZ! tchgrin

Bijou could be older than Rufus. Sorry Rufus
Bellanonna; no need to be sorry at all! In fact, I'm rather glad someone else had ascended to the throne and I will swear my undying allegiance.
It's like a GN. version of Royalty, for example, when Kate and Meghan produce again all the family will get bumped down a notch.! Same with GN.
I was the eldest of 3 Siblings and copped the blame for all dropped crockery, broken windows etc. even though it wasn't always me! "You should know better at your age!" still rings in my ears! sad So being top "dog" isn't always what it's cracked up to be.!
So Good Luck Bijou! Rule fair but firm with a rod of iron!
By your Liege;
Cheers wine wine wine

Oh, so sorry this has turned into a negative endeavor for Marydoll. sad I actually just searched for this thread to see if someone in particular had posted her age. Was just curious to see if it was close to mine since we are both vegetarians. I loved reading the ages and tiny bios. I think it's nice to have even a small picture of a person as a whole rather than to just see them as remainer/leaver, estranged or not, etc. Do some of you feel the same?

grannyactivist Tue 17-Dec-19 19:00:58

I'm afraid Bellanonna is correct in saying that Bijou is older than Rufus. I seem to remember that she posted in early summer that she was 96 years sold - and was feeling rather sad for the youngsters of 70 or so who were feeling their age due to infirmity. grin

Rufus my mother is heading towards 91 and also has good Mancunian genes! Which area of M/C are you from?

TwinLolly Tue 17-Dec-19 18:52:32

I'm 50 but ever so young at heart!

Nothing will stop me from climbing trees with children if they want me to join in. I'll stop when my joints can't take it any longer! Stay young for as long as your body permits.

Age is just a number. It's how you feel inside that matters. xx

Bellanonna Tue 17-Dec-19 16:46:02

Unbelievable, Marydoll! I shall go on being 79 for the time being and I’m not st all suspicious of your motives. What on earth could happen? People needn’t post their age if they’re suspicions don’t allow it, and if they had read your posts carefully they would have stopped adding their weight, height, shoe size, etc. Thanks for giving it a go anyway. I think, however, Bijou could be older than Rufus. Sorry Rufus.

Urmstongran Tue 17-Dec-19 16:41:46

Oh Marydoll that’s such a shame. 99.9% of us were looking forward to it!

It’s sad really but I can understand your decision to revoke.

Thank you anyway for all the time and trouble you’ll have already dedicated to it - especially at this busy time of year.

Marydoll Tue 17-Dec-19 16:22:11

I have decided to abandon collating the ages, which I initially decided to do on a foolish whim.
There is nothing untoward about it, but I never expected some posters to be suspicious of my motives, despite many willingly posting their ages.

I just like working with numbers, perhaps I'm just a a little naïve, thinking that it would continue be taken in a light hearted manner, as the OP intended.

What I will say is that Rufus seems to be the elder statesmen of GN.

ananimous Tue 17-Dec-19 16:03:54

Urmstongran -No, not rude at all.

It does sound a bit like a stealth survey, though I'm sure it's not.

Liaise Tue 17-Dec-19 15:55:37

I am 76. We have just measured our heights and I am 5"2 minus half an inch lost through the years. I weigh 8 stone 6 pounds. DH has discovered that he is 2 inches shorter than he used to be.

Kalu Tue 17-Dec-19 11:47:09

I just want to second what Urmston has said.

You are a gem for doing this. ?

grannyactivist Tue 17-Dec-19 11:12:56

I am 66.

I am married to a man ten years younger than me who is super fit (he's taken a kayak out for the day today) whereas I have ongoing health problems. However, I've always been determined to not 'give in' and because of this I do far too much really. smile

Cabbie21 Tue 17-Dec-19 09:12:43

....one who sees her mother......

Cabbie21 Tue 17-Dec-19 09:11:47

How did I miss this thread till now?
When it started I was 73 but meanwhile I have had another birthday. DH is a year younger but seems 10 years older.

To be honest I don’t want to be 21 again, too many decisions and difficulties ahead. At least life is less complicated for me now, though I dread getting old. I am not old now, just a bit stiff and achey sometimes. Also I find I need breathing space between events nowadays.
Another one whose her mother when I look in the mirror. She made it to 92.
