I love Keane's new song, 'Stupid Things'. blush

Anyone else love songs that could be deemed 'wrong'?

The Other Woman, The Other Man by Gerard Kenny.
"I never see you when I want to, you only see me when you can, 'cos you're the other woman and I'm the other man" ....

A fabulous singer-songwriter, with a very loyal fan-base!

Just remembered a really weird one - Angie Baby by Helen Reddy. About a girl living in a make believe world but somehow manages to lure young men into her bedroom, and once there they disappear! Quite spooky really.

One that always had me laughing was Telephone Man by Meri Wilson.
Hey, baby, I'm your telephone man
You just show me where you want it
And I'll put it where I can
I can put it in the bedroom
I can put it in the hall
I can put it in the bathroom
I can hang it on the wall
You can have it with the buzz
you can have it with the ring
And if you really want it
You can have a ding-a-ling
It gets even cheekier!.........

Happy Birthday Sweet 16

Tonight's the night I've been waiting for

You're not a little girl any more

Never though anything of it at the time

Happy birthday sweet sixteen - I'm just getting it now ?

To be fair, the boy singing it might have also been 16 - so not too bad really. I doubt Neil Sedaka was very much older when he wrote it.

Looks like he was about 20 when he wrote it.

Just watched the video: a dirgy, maungy tune with words glorifying selfish infidelity and accompanied by images of happy people as if betrayal doesn't hurt and ruin lives.

One of the lines expresses regret for missing the childern's bedtime (again) implying a deliberate and established pattern of treachery encompassing a whole family.

This is all packaged up as merely a 'stupid thing' that the perpetrator has almost accidently been pushed into. Whoops! I just destroyed your life. Silly me.

Still, if we condemned everything the pop industry pushes out we wouldn't be left with much.

His voice is fabulous though lilyflower and I did say that I knew it was wrong!

There's been talk of banning the Pogues' Fairytale of New York because of the words. (not sure what they are, but clearly they're offensive to someone.).

What about Hotel California by the Eagles? Or Sweet Sixteen by Neil Sedaka? Don't Stand too Close to Me by Police? Or Roxanne?

There was a song called Hang on in there Baby from the 70s which is a pretty explicit description of sex.

Agree Walk on the Wild Side is very on-trend wink
