Good morning all, expecting our first greengrocer delivery and it’s just in time as I used the last of the vegetables last night. DH ran the gauntlet of the hospital yesterday but needn’t have worried he only saw one patient and 4 nurses the whole time he was there, what should have been a 90 minute procedure took only 15 as the normal “drink” given prior to the scan was omitted...whether that’s because they don’t want patients sitting around for any length of time while it works or they simply no longer give it I’m not sure but it certainly speeded up the process to my husbands great relief. Keep safe and enjoy your day whatever you may be doing.

Good morning Mick and everyone. It's cold and pouring with rain in Cheshire. My body clock is very confused and I too keep waking up at odd times in the night and get up rather than lie worrying. Three o'clock this morning I was reading a recipe book. confused

Lots of communication with DD yesterday as I'm helping with a work project. I enjoyed that. She's finding working at home and being the homework police keeping DGS on task very challenging. DSiL is a key worker so he's out all day.

A kind neighbour topped up my fresh food stores yesterday and I'm set for a few days now. No supermarket delivery slot till May!

Never watched so much TV. It's so easy with Netflix to think I'll just see what happens next... I keep telling myself it's only like reading a long book.

Stay positive and well. flowers for all.

Morning Mick, morning All. It’s a grey start in our corner of Somerset, a sort of wait and see day weather-wise. Much of the same here. Mr C is carrying on painting, I’m on touch up emulsion detail, some cleaning to finish and our summer sitting room curtains to hang before a trip to the loft to ferret out lampshades and a rug. There will be a walk at some point, really enjoying them and a couple of phone calls. Gradually a new routine is settling in place. No idea what we’ll eat today, will work it out later. We were treated to a FaceTime call from the older grandchildren yesterday evening, a welcome surprise that had us laughing. Good to see and hear them, I suspect their Mum would welcome some peace and quiet. Be gentle with yourselves, stay safe everyone.

Good morning from an overcast NE.
Another day of TV watching yesterday while DH did the washing and ironing.
DIL and youngest GD did a whatsapp video call to us last night, we got to see all the craft work she had done. She had made biscuits in the shape of llamas and cacti and iced them. Her teenage sister did put in an appearance to say hi then slipped away again.
Keep safe.

Good 1st April morning Mick and all from the Scottish Borders.
A busy day with WhatsApp and Zoom booked!! Who'd have thought we would be so techie!
We even spoke to MiL on WhatsApp yesterday . She has BiL living there so not as strange as it seems.
DD has managed to move house.
I am going to distribute spare seeds to neighbours in need although not sure how exactly.
Hope your day goes as well as possible. Marydoll I hope DH doesn't get THE letter. Self isolation is bad enough.

Good morning from a grey Suffolk seaside. A frost on the ground - which is unusual being so close to the sea - and the bird bath is iced over . I wish the weather would warm up so we can sit in the garden. My neighbour could bring her cuppa over and we could sit 6 ft apart and have a chat in the sunshine. Did a lot of heavy gardening yesterday and was shattered last evening. Perhaps a lazy day today. MARYDOLL , your macaroon bars sound delicious and I will definitely give them a try once I’ve got some dessicated coconut. How strange having a potato in the mix. ?. Or is that an April fool? ?. Kind thoughts going out to all ?

Marydoll Wed 01-Apr-20 08:31:08

The potato part is true.
Warning the mixture looks really watery initially, but just keep adding icing sugar and it becomes a thick paste.

Morning All

Grey and still here this morning.

Nothing planned. No adventures. May clean the oven if I can stir myself. Yesterday’s bread making went well - except that the loaves stuck to the tin so the bottoms are missing. Not sure what I did wrong so I may stick to rolls in future.

Mythbirtthedragon - Here, in Norfolk, Blickling Hall has a sitooterie. It causes much confusion!

Scentia - taking dogs out with bikes used to be quite common until it was decided that it was cruel to the dog(!!?) and it went out of fashion. Our dog used to love it too. I hope you don’t actually tie her lead to the bike? This can mean disaster if she pulls to one side unexpectedly. Enjoy!

Good Morning from a drizzly Black Country

Trying to get into a routine here. Getting up later at around 8am (used to get up at 6.30 to take Partner to train station). Then join in the Jo Wicks workout. Told my 11 year old DGD on WhatsApp, and she said 'that's amazing' smile

Partner had an e-mail yesterday (all his colleagues were copied in) reminding him he had been with the company 25 years on 3rd April. They will have a little ceremony when they are all back in the office! Apparently he is expected to take in cakes!

DD went into school yesterday as her rota day is Tuesday. One child attended.

It has been 2 weeks today since we came back from Lanzarote, it seems a lifetime ago now. Our holiday to Lindos in June I know will not happen.

Wishing you all a good and safe day

NfkDumpling Wed 01-Apr-20 08:39:33

I’ve taken a screenshot of your recipe Marydoll. It looks rather fattening so I’m not allowed to make it now as DH also received The Letter and we’re both ‘shielding’. (It’s easier than trying to follow all the instructions for co-habiting if I continue to go out.) Our letter was from the 21 March though, so we’re already a week into our imprisonment.

dragonfly46 Wed 01-Apr-20 08:42:34

Good morning from a dull Leicestershire.

DH has a blood test at the GP’s today so will be disinfecting him when he gets back.

Can’t imagine what your letter says Mary. My letter was only 4 sides long. The fact that I am shielding has opened doors though. I seem able to get a weekly Sainsburys delivery, my GP changed my prescription on trust that the oncologist had changed it and the pharmacy are delivering it.

Hope you all have a good day.

vena11 Wed 01-Apr-20 08:43:02

Good morning all from a dull Bristol.

I should be going for my yearly mammogram tomorrow but obviously it has been cancelled now until July.

Not much to do today as I cleaned a lot yesterday so I just have a prescription to pickup and then a nice long walk.

Keep safe everyone.

Good morning from sunny Essex. I don't think the weather knows what is going on in the world as the sun continues to shine. Busy day yesterday with work out, yoga, cleaning and gardening. Did have time to chat (at length) to some friends in the afternoon. We all said how nice it was as we didn't seem to have "the time" before all this! Decided NOT to upload my singing video to Gareth Malone as think he has too much to worry about without looking/listening to that! ?
I was getting stressed about it all so decided to just enjoy the singing in the privacy of my own home!
A friend's husband in his 60's was admitted to hospital yesterday and she is so upset that she cannot see him. That is a really hard thing when you can't be at your loved one's bedside.
I hope everyone can find jobs to do today and try to enjoy the sunshine?xxx

BlueBelle Wed 01-Apr-20 08:53:48

Was getting excited to make the macaroon bar Marydoll until I saw your recipe list all I ve got is the potato ???

Scentia Wed 01-Apr-20 08:54:41

NfkDumpling
I have purchased a bracket for her, I intend to take up a new sport when all this is over, it is called Bikejor and I think my dog and I will be naturals?

Anniebach Wed 01-Apr-20 08:56:58

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Scentia Wed 01-Apr-20 08:57:31

I am actually missing the potatoes but have everything else! My DH has said it is not essential to go out for potatoes for macaroons ? I will have to leave it until I go shopping on Thursday!!

Marydoll Wed 01-Apr-20 08:58:22

Dragonfly, It was definitely nine pages and double sided! sad. It didn't upset me, as I was expecting it anyway. I think my children were more upset, ostrich scenario!

I was trying to find out how to register with Sainsbury's but can't find out how.
I have to text to an NHS Scotland number to get support, but that's all I can find.

Taichinan Wed 01-Apr-20 09:06:00

Good morning all. I've been lying in bed watching the sky - a favourite occupation - and catching up with the news. Lots of blue in both! It's lovely and relaxing not having to feel guilty about, well, relaxing! Though I do like to have taken in the milk and paper before the postman comes! Sorted my steam mop yesterday so really looking forward to cleaning floors today. My oil tank was refilled yesterday which is a bit of a relief. Usually it comes within a couple of days of ordering but this time they said they were inundated with orders. Don't tell me people have found a way of storing panic-bought oil now! I'm beginning to think I'll believe anything these days! Coronavirus is creeping closer and there was a death in a town about 20 miles from here reported yesterday. It all seems so unreal somehow. But onwards and upwards and breakfast beckons. Stay busy, cosy and above all safe everyone. ?????

Nannytopsy Wed 01-Apr-20 09:06:46

Good morning Mick and all his followers!
It was looking like a good day at dawn but now our part of Suffolk's grey. probably as well - I am going to plant the new flowerbeds and the sun was surprisingly hot yesterday. A day or two of grey will give things more chance!
One of our local nurseries is doing prepaid sales and contact free pick ups or delivery so I can start shopping! I need compost for the big pots.
Have a good day everyone

Brunette10 Wed 01-Apr-20 09:17:59

Good morning from a sunny Fife. Didn't sleep too well last night, DH was up feeling a bit sick, it's now passed so no idea what the problem was. Going to go out yet again into the garden, garage rhones are needing cleaned up so I will do the bits I can reach. The usual tidy up in the house. I managed to get a slot for order and collect at Sainsbugs yesterday for collection Saturday so feel better I don't have to go into a shop. Had lovely video with DGS's and DD so it cheered me up yesterday. Will get out for our usual walk and it's so nice to see everyone keeping their distance. Have as good day that you can.Stay safe.

BladeAnnie Wed 01-Apr-20 09:21:13

Good morning all from a grey and quiet mid Notts. I managed to get a delivery slot with sainsbury's for Friday. Marydoll - when you go on the website it says in the top right hand corner login/register if that helps at all. We have had a delivery pass for several years but I'm sure that was how I initially registered. Started another pram blanket yesterday for our cleaner's (who us sadly not able to work for us atm) daughter. I think at least when I finish I can leave it out by the door for her to pick up. Corned beef hash for tea which I can make in advance during the day smile and continue with the knitting. Stay safe everyone and may Wednesday be kind to us all x

Annapops Wed 01-Apr-20 09:24:04

Good morning all from a very grey looking County Durham.I

All our trips this year, both here and abroad are now cancelled, although we are still awaiting airline announcements. Our yearly travel insurance expires in May so there is sure to be a loss we will have to take on the chin for some things we have booked. Under the circumstances I am not going to mope about that.

Keeping busy with cleaning, tidying and sorting. The loft is now bulging under the weight of numerous charity bags. Oh how some of those charities must be suffering due to lack of collections, especially hospices.

I must try to venture outside for a walk today. We live opposite a disused railway line valley walk which is popular with dog walkers. I am usually down in that valley every other day but since lockdown I have avoided it. I'm really scared I may be developing some kind of phobia about venturing out beyond the garden gate,so I must make an effort to conquer my feelings.

Wishing everyone some joy will come their way today. X

Marydoll Wed 01-Apr-20 09:40:09

Dragonfly, I'm embarrassed to say, the letter was only 5 double sided pages, how I got 9 I don't know! blush

Thanks, BladeAnnie, all the delivery slots here for the major supermarkets are booked for the next two weeks! sad
I'm trying to work out how to access the ones for people, who are shielding.

Auntieflo Wed 01-Apr-20 09:43:56

Good morning Michael, Annie and all. It is beautifully sunny here, but frost on the cars.
Yesterday afternoon, one of my lovely young neighbours phoned to say that she was passing a shop on her way home, was there anything I would like. I asked for a small pot of single cream, but there were only large pots. So she decanted some into a container, and brought us a couple of slices of home made cake.
Another elderly neighbour, ( older than us) phoned for a chat, and to see how we were. This was so kind, as she lost her husband last year, and has recently had to have her dog put to sleep. This situation has brought out the best in folk.

Last night, I finished making a little knitted figure, "The Snowman" , from an idea posted by another GN'r, on another thread.

What to do today? Maybe clean the oven? Or not!

We only went for a very short walk yesterday, as my knee was so painful. Usually if I walk, it eases up, but not yesterday. Hope it is better today.
Will prepare for our evening meal, Leek and Ham Pasta, and maybe persuade DH to tidy his study. ?
Wishing all who are poorly or fed up, stir crazy, a good day.
Stay safe and take care one and all.
