Good Morning everyone. Severnside is bright and cool this morning.
Bbrrrr what a chilly day yesterday.

I have to do a food shop today. I’m like Mother Hubbard. On my return will carry on with some admin that I sorted yesterday.

I hope troubles are few today and take care ?

Bellasnana Mon 11-May-20 06:27:49

Good morning Mick and all who follow. Sounds like you are finding it difficult being out of your usual routine, Mick. Hang in there, it will all pass eventually and the main thing is to keep yourself safe.

Weather in Malta today looks rather overcast but it is warm already so could be a hot day.

I have run out of my tablets so have just messaged my lovely doctor to ask what the procedure is for getting my prescription filled. No doubt a walk to the pharmacy will be on the cards. I could do with the exercise, especially after eating rather too much cake yesterday!

Hope you all manage to have as good a day as possible, and a good week ahead. sunshine

Morning Mick and everyone

Very grey and very windy in Kent. Doesn't forecast rain but looks likely.
Just a bit of housework to do today. Himself will cook a small English after he's walked to get him paper.
Stay Alert !

grandMattie Mon 11-May-20 06:34:06

We need more LERTS nina!
Horrible here in our part of Kent, dark, windy and cold. Never rains though.
Dreadful night. Didn’t get to sleep until after midnight, and been awake sine 3ish. Hope o have a nap this afternoon.
More of the same today - walk for paper and then whatever...
Stay well, stay safe.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a bright but frosty morning in Cheshire. Its a clear blue sky and that lifts the spirits somewhat.

I really had to think what day it is today. Could be my muddled head or it could be because the days are merging into one. I wish I'd had the foresight to buy materials to keep me busy sewing and crocheting before this began. I have my paints and plenty to read.

Long chats with my DD yesterday and I make a point of calling one or two people each day. The family in a series I'm watching on Netflix are the only people allowed into my home and I talk to them! How sad is that?

Walking in the woods and to see the ducklings at 9.00. They rush to see me now and come right out of the pond. I'm able to hold a shouty conversation with my neighbours walking too and that perks me up for the day.

Warm wishes to all GN friends especially those with worries/illness. flowers for all.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. A sunny day today but still cold.
DH had a bad night so will need some TLC . I had to make the morning tea.
Hope everyone has a good day.

NotAGran55 Mon 11-May-20 06:44:58

Good morning from bright but cool West Berkshire.

A little housework , short walk around the block , make some soup, plant a few seeds, listen to new audiobook , watch an old episode of The Great British Sewing Bee, transfer stuff from the garage to our new shed , email a friend in Oz , research birthday present ideas for a relative with SEN , and wait to hear from Boris about the content of the 50 page report.

Time to get up and get on!

Take care .

Pantglas2 Mon 11-May-20 07:01:42

Morning all from a bright blustery north Wales where I’m lolling abed with my chamberpot of tea - it feels so much colder than last week but I hope it stays dry at least!

Not a lot planned today but need to brave a supermarket this week so shopping list will be started to make sure I don’t forget anything- a fortnightly shop sure concentrates the mind!

Stay safe everyone x

Urmstongran Mon 11-May-20 07:03:26

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s overcast too Bellasnana! Warm, as you say so could go either way for tuppence.

I need to load a few more books onto my Kindle it’s a good job I bring it out here - more so now.

Himself has just gone out to join the Lycra brigade - the under 65’s time slot.

I thought Boris struck just the right note last night in his speech. Those (mostly blue collar workers) who cannot do their work from home and are going back in today will probably be feeling glad financially but wary. I do hope this next stage goes well. ‘Stay Alert’ basically means ‘don’t let your guard down’.

Hope Monday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Goodmorning Mick and all x

Bright blue sky, breezy and chilly here in S E Essex.

I should be on a plane to Cyprus now, we go every year, beautiful Country, lovely friendly people. I am so cross with this flipping virus, it has taken away our normal taken away loved ones, stopped us from seeing family and friends and denied us cuddles with our grandchildren.

Take care and keep safe folks ?

Good morning everyone from a bright dry Inverness. What a weather day we had yesterday - we had everything rolled into one day ! I managed to get a short walk done in the morning and in the afternoon we had hailstorms snow wind and rain. I curled up on the sofa with a book ....
Nothing different planned for today although I’ve still not finished sorting out all my cupboards so I might have to make a start on that. And of course here in Scotland we’re now allowed out more than once for exercise so I can get two walks in ?
I hope everyone has the best day they can and take care ?

Gingster Mon 11-May-20 07:50:32

What a change in the weather! Very strong winds and scudding clouds. The sun peeps through occasionally and the sea is angry.

A cosy day in after walking pooch. She was naughty yesterday. Found a dead baby rabbit over the fields and would not drop it. DH tried to get it off her but she snapped and growled. Never done that before, she always so good natured. We ignored her for the rest of the day and she kept a low profile.

A muntjac run right along our fence while we were having breakfast in the garden. About 4 feet away from us. And then we nearly stepped on an adder . What a day for the wild life . ?????.

I thought Boris spoke well but it’s all a bit fuzzy. Just hope people don’t flock to public spaces to have their extra excercise. So many people not observing the distancing rules. Some back to work today but don’t use public transport, ?, schools may re open with only certain year groups. So one child going back and the others staying home! ?. Oh well we just have to wait and see. Feel for Boris though - he’s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t

Kind thoughts to all and best wishes for wobblers.

Good Morning from a brighter Black Country.

I should be on a coach holiday today with Mum (her 90th birthday present). We had arranged for Wednesday to meet up with someone she had lost touch with, but who I found for her on FB.

Chicken carcass is simmering ready to make soup with veg and pearl barely. It makes enough for lunch for the two of us for 3 days. Then usually some left to freeze.

I will leave you with this I read yesterday
Remember the Mayor in 'Jaws' was so concerned about the economy, he told everyone it was safe to go back into the water. Just Saying!

Safe safe everyone, and keep alert!

Puzzler61 Mon 11-May-20 07:56:57

Good morning from Worcs. It’s sunny but cool and not a bad day at all. DH left the house at 7 after bringing me a cup of Tea. He’s gone to queue at the supermarket to get the weekly shop for the shielding couple who live in the village nearby.
We were ready for Boris’s address to us all last night and we’re ready for it, and okay with it. For now we feel it’s the right, the only, way to proceed.
Cleaning bathroom and WC downstairs this morning, will have just the one walk today, and back to cook up something nice for tea (just not sure what yet!
Let’s all just plod on and keep ourselves safe. Take care. ?

gillybob Mon 11-May-20 08:08:36

Good morning from the NE coast where we have another cold, windy and grey start to the day. Yesterday was absolutely freezing and my walk on the beach was very short despite wearing 3 layers .

Today will be yet another day of hanging on hold to that wonderfully competent team at Barclays . grin most of whom don’t know their own ar*e from their elbow and follow a pathetic script (that’s in between feeding the baby and checking Facebook). In the meantime some of us are falling apart. Not holding my breath to be able to speak to someone who knows what they are talking about .

Have a good Monday everyone and stay safe (and sane) .

Love

Good morning from east London, sun is out, sky is blue but it is fresh outside and windy. Yesterday turned unpleasant in the afternoon, grey and cool so kept my walk short around local streets. Got round to changing the calendar on the desk pad yesterday from April to May and gave myself a sharp slap for yearning about what might have been. Listened to Boris last night and felt he didn’t actually say much that indicates my life will change in the near future unless I can persuade DP to pick up a tennis racquet and the courts open up again. 2nd slap administered. DD has sent a lovely photo of GD2 getting stuck on her play mat; she’s realised she can shimmy her way so far round then can’t work out how to get both legs round the arch that holds the dangling toys. DD got told off for laughing at her by GD1. Long memory? Hope you have a good day.

harrigran Mon 11-May-20 08:11:15

Good morning from a cool and overcast NE.
Talked to DD on Skype yesterday afternoon, she is back to work today in Brussels. Not all of her colleagues will be able to return because schools and nurseries are not open.

Cote brasserie are delivering a meal for me today which is a gift from my sister for tomorrow's birthday.

Too cool to be in the garden so I think I will finish my feel good novel about St Tropez.
Take care everyone.

Good morning Mick and all from a cold, but sunny Glasgow. It's only -1 degrees here.

Sorry folks, I'm about to have a moan on this lovely thread.
I just need to offload.

We had a terrible day yesterday. My bereaved sister in law clicked on a scam email from Virigin Media in the early hours of Sunday morning, revealed her password and personal details.
The fall out has been awful, as she is not at all computer literate. We still don't know what other accounts have been compromised.

She phoned us in a total panic yesterday morning, saying that she couldn't understand what the Virgin Media agent in a foreign call centre was saying, so gave them our name and number and said we would deal with it. ?

We then got a call from Virgin Media and eight hours later we were still phoning, being passed from pillar to post. No-one would help us, despite us setting up a secondary password on her account, so that we could speak on her behalf.
They kept telling us it was wrong and quoting GDPR.
That's when I lost it!

Virgin had to delete the whole account, as the scammers had changed the settings on the email account and Virgin were locked out.
In among all this, my SIL kept ringing my mobile non-stop while my husband and I were talking to Virgin on our landline. I had to put the phone in another room, as we couldn't concentrate.

What made it worse, that despite us asking her many times to register with My Virgin, to give ease of access to her account, she hadn't done it.
It needed an email address, but of course that email account was compromised.
The agent suggested using an alternative one, so I tried to set up a Gmail account for her, but apparently she already had one, although she denied it.

She couldn't remember any details on her account and at one point, the agent suggested we might not who we said we were. ?
As we were sheilding we couldn't go round and speak to her and I certainly didn't want her in my home, as she has been going out and about!
I had to phone her on my mobile, hold my phone against the house phone, so that the agent could speak to her.

We were still on the phone at 6pm last night, trying to resolve it. We hadn't eaten for hours. I did something I said I would never do during Lockdown, order a takeaway.

Eventually, I had to go to bed, as I had had a number of angina attacks due to the stress of it all.
SIL was totally oblivious to the consequences of what she had done.

Today we have to start all over again, with the phone calls, but after it is resolved, I will be contacting my nephew in London to suggest he starts taking an interest in his mother's welfare. Power of attorney may be an idea, as these incidents are happening every couple of weeks and It's starting to affect my health.
MY SIL also has two brothers who live in the town, but she will not ask for help from them, nor her son.
Sorry folks for the rant, I'm not in a good place this morning, I feel quite unwell.

Unfortunately, the maths class will be closed today, I am going to be verrrry busy! grin

Thinking of Dragonfly, Gilly and Gramamretto's husband.
Take care folks.

Nannytopsy Mon 11-May-20 08:19:30

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
Breezy with sunshine and clouds in Suffolk. I too am sorting cupboards today. We have lots of built in cupboards and it’s time to reorganise what is stored where. A lot of the things I need are out of my reach on the shelves. I want this job finished before it warms up again.
I hope the day is kind to you all.

Nannytopsy Mon 11-May-20 08:25:17

Marydoll how awful for you and SO frustrating that she had done none of the things you had asked her to. Definitely contact nephew!

Scentia Mon 11-May-20 08:27:37

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire.
I think in Boris’ own bumbling way is trying to say I can go for a walk other than around my area so I am off to some other cycle routes at the end of the week, yippee ?
I am back in my new job tonight so I will have an easy day today, I will tackle a bit more of my online NVQ it is years since I did any learning so it is taking me a long time to get into it.

Got a video from DD of DGS on his first birthday at the weekend and that was lovely, what a lot of presents he got!
Take care everyone and stay safe and for goodness sake ‘Stay Alert’ ?

NannyJan53 Mon 11-May-20 08:28:19

Oh Marydoll my heart goes out to you. Your SIL's son and brothers do indeed need to take more of an interest in her welfare, it is not fair for you and your DH to shoulder the burden flowers

Brunette10 Mon 11-May-20 08:29:05

Good Morning from a bright Fife, the sky is just beautiful with not a cloud in. However like everyone else it is rather chilly. Oh dear Marydoll what a nightmare for you, I hope you get everything sorted out. Try and keep calm that's the important bit. No change today with our usual routines but I'm happy with that, keep plodding along. Thinking of all those with problems, anxieties. Take care.

cornergran Mon 11-May-20 08:35:57

Morning Mick, morning All a cold wind with a blue sky over our corner of Somerset. Oh goodness marydoll, I don’t know what to say. What a horrific situation at any time, even worse just now. Please rest today as much as you can. Mr C will be back wielding his paintbrush. I’ve a telephone GP consultation this morning, very impressed with the speed. Then I really must sort paperwork and make space for the ‘stuff’ needing to be moved later in the week as the painting progresses. I foresee some strained silences to come but little to worry me really, many others here have much more to deal with. Look after yourselves as much as you can.
