Good Morning Everyone,
Its dull and grey here in Brackley this morning , and its dry as well.
Yesterdays trip out was no different, had my £1 coffee in Buckingham , got to Bicester ,and coming out of supermarket ,saw a person I used to work with who I had not met since last February, had a conversation and moved on .
I think this is the thing meting up with someone from your past ,and with the lockdown occurring as well.
Still having these strange dreams as well.
Take Care ,
Mick

Morning Mick and all who follow from a quiet Spain- doesn’t seem as if anyone is up apart from me! Birdies have just started twittering and sky is lightening so another lovely day in paradise beckons!

Domestic goddessing duties this morning - chilli con carne and a prawn jalfrezi - can you smell them already!?

Have a good day all x

Good morning from a bright Essex by the sea.
DH and I spent a couple of hours yesterday clearing the rampant ivy that grows along the back of our car park. I think we filled about 10 bags, which DH took to the tip. Very hard work but looks amazing now. We were both exhausted but very pleased with our efforts.
I'm off to Leamington Spa today to see DD1 after 6 months. My 11 year old DGD sent me a message yesterday saying she's excited about seeing me, she of very few words !!!
Apparently we are making chocolate brownies together tomorrow.
Have a very pleasant day everyone and stay safe xx

Stop it Pantglas you are making my mouth water ?

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It is grey, dull and wet.

I was planning to do some gardening today but that will depend on how the weather goes now. First some hoovering as I’ve spotted a few dead flies around.

I hope little Henry’s hospital visit went well for him and have the best day you can all ?

MellowYellow Wed 19-Aug-20 06:46:51

Good morning all from a damp south Cornwall. 3 year old bundle of energy coming this morning while his mum takes 4 year old sister horse riding. Have bought dinosaur cookie cutter so we'll be making gingerbread brontosaurs. Also scrounged a giant cardboard box, twice his size, from a surfboard shop down the road so he can play with that! After which I'll relax with a well deserved coffee ha ha. Enjoy the day where possible everybody.

Good morning from Shropshire.

Thank you for all your good wishes for Henry. He was a really brave boy yesterday.Lots of needles which he took in his stride. He has severe allergies to dairy and eggs.He will be seen again in November when he will have some further tests then in twelve months will be tested to see if he is still having severe reactions and depending on the outcome a plan may be put in place to introduce them slowly. It was pretty much what we had worked out but good to have it confirmed by the paediatrician and get guidance from the allergy specialist.

Hope your DH got on ok yesterday kitty and Mary glad that your treatment went more smoothly.

DGD staying with us for a couple more days.We are making the most of these days with her as she starts school in a couple of weeks.

Have a good day all?

Urmstongran Wed 19-Aug-20 07:20:20

Sun’s up here! ?
Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s going to be another beautiful day ?

Yesterday’s ladies group was so uplifting - we were helpless with laughter within the first hour! My sides were aching and my neighbour and I came home at 5pm still giggling going over what had been said. I think women together have the most fun groups as we share so much.

A chilled day today I think just taking my Kindle into the gardens. I’ve not been in since Saturday lunchtime. Cesar is cutting the grass right now - he must know I’m coming down and wants it to look it’s best.
?

Hope Wednesday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

GrannyGravy13 Wed 19-Aug-20 07:24:59

Good morning Mick and all

Overcast here in S E Essex. We are off to Chelmsford later with DD and two GC to get the five year old school shoes. It’s our first time to proper shops since beginning of March.

Safe journey Sar53

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️

Good morning all from a very wet Southern Hants, thought I’d join in rather than just reading everyone else’s contributions! It’s supposed to rain nearly all day, hopefully I’ll get out for a quick walk, husband gone to work.
Susan56 our grandson also had multiple allergies he was tested at a similar age and yearly afterwards, now 7 he’s outgrown the majority, so ??

NanKate Wed 19-Aug-20 07:39:33

Morning Mick and All.

Grey warm day in South Bucks.

Happy to hear about your Henry Susan. Just like my younger grandson he will get used to being ultra careful with the many foods he is allergic to. We took him for an ice-cream last week, after checking the ingredients with with shop owner he had his ice-cream in a cone, but what he does is lick just once and then we wait for about a minute and by then he knows if he can continue eating it. If there is a reaction he immediately has Piriton and we have an Epi-pen ready. It becomes part of life.

Do hope Mr.Kitty is ok.

I’m chuffed I won the Poetry competition at our Virtual WI Summer Show yesterday with my ‘Lockdown Lowdown’ poem.

Helping a friend set up her first Netflix account today.

Lins1066 Wed 19-Aug-20 07:40:07

Good Morning Mick and all from a wet S Welsh coast. Yesterday turned out to be a warm and sunny day. Glad that Henry is to be monitored regularly from now on Susan.
Welcome Jaxjacky.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from an overcast Colchester. The weather may have kyboshed our weekly meetup in the park and we are not allowed to meet indoors yet. There are a few of our group who flout or don't know/understand the guidelines and their conversations frustrate me.
I will walk into town later as I need a couple of things.

harrigran Wed 19-Aug-20 07:50:32

Good morning from the NE.
We had heavy rain during the night but it is dry now.
I retired to another bedroom with my book last night as I couldn't nod off. DH was up and down all night so I stayed in the spare room and had the most comfortable night I have had in years.
I had a message to say a parcel is delayed, something I thought would be delivered with the other artist's materials, I will be waiting for one artist's eraser. Can you imagine the size of the parcel ?
Family in the outer Hebrides having far better weather than we are, never mind it promises to brighten up.
Take care everyone.

Good morning, Michael and all GN from a cloudy, grey and damp South Yorkshire. We had a busy day yesterday both inside and outside the house, so I have persuaded DH he needs to throttle back a little today and so the only thing he’s going to do is make a cake. We did take a short walk in the late afternoon to pick some blackberries in the lanes. I think they are past their best now so I may use this last lot to make some jam, as we seem to have a lot of jars kicking around. Have a good day, folks.

Gingster Wed 19-Aug-20 07:51:14

Good morning from another sunny day at the Suffolk seaside. This weather just goes on and on. What a summer weve had in this corner of Britain. I can’t believe it when others say it’s pouring every day. Even a few miles up the road, it can be so different to here. Hopefully you will all have a glorious autumn. ?

We shopped yesterday and as we only had a few items, we went to self checkout. I hate those things. Every time we scanned something we were instructed to call for assistance. A grumpy supervisor wasn’t happy to keep ‘assisting’. ?

GD had her Zoom interview yesterday to apply for her 2nd choice of Uni. The laptop froze after a few minutes and then wouldn’t re-boot for half an hour. Eventually got back to the ‘very nice ‘ interviewer and carried on. How stressful this has all been for our youngsters! ?. Also U turn for grades is too little, too late.

Does anyone watch ‘Our Yorkshire Farm’. Family of 11 all pulling together on their remote Yorkshire farm. What a delightful family and what a wonderful but tough life for those children.

Shopping for elderly, frail SIL today and I’ll have a cuppa with her to catch up on all her news ?. ?. She won’t stop talking and I’ll just sit and listen. ??. As they say ‘it’s good to talk’.

Kind thoughts to all. ?

cornergran Wed 19-Aug-20 07:52:32

Morning Mick, morning All from a very soggy corner of Somerset. It’s foul out there. Our poor garden needs wringing out. Dust removal this morning then on with my mega clear out, beginning the paperwork today, Mr C says he is happy to wield the shredder, just not sure he understands the quantity involved. Take care and be kind to yourselves everyone.

NannyJan53 Wed 19-Aug-20 07:53:43

Good Morning from another dull and cloudy Black Country.

Had to call out someone yesterday to deal with a Wasp next in our garage roof at the back in the garden. No activity there so far this morning so hopefully he has done the trick.

No real plans today, so will go with the flow.

Glad that Henry is now diagnosed and will be monitored and he will improve over time Susan

Would love to read your poem NanKate

We have a flight booked to Malaga on 27th September Urmston but I doubt we will be going. So sad as we didn't go last year, so was really looking forward to it. Our health is more important at the moment though.

Welcome to the thread Jaxjacky

Urmstongran Wed 19-Aug-20 07:53:45

Hullo to you Jaxjacky good to have you join us! ?

Good morning everyone from a warm and cloudy Cambridge with some rain forecast for later I think☔️
It was a lovely day yesterday and we went walking by the river after dropping the DGS off at their various activities! They’re certainly kept busy just now ?
I love the idea of the gingerbread Brontosaurus mellowyellow I think I’ll pinch that idea if you don’t mind!!
A very warm welcome to jaxjacky ?
Hope everyone has a lovely day today and take care whatever the day brings ?

Urmstongran Wed 19-Aug-20 08:04:56

Totally understand your concerns NannyJan. I’m the same - in reverse! Why get on a plane (or a bus, train or taxi) if you don’t have to.

That said, we do plan to go home sometime ...

kittylester Wed 19-Aug-20 08:05:46

Morning all from an overcast North Leicestershire.

Thank you all for the good wishes for dh yesterday. It was only a wart and nothing more sinister!!

Busy day today. Zoom Alzheimer's Carer's course this morning and then DD1 and children are here this afternoon.

And, no doubt providing a listening ear to my friend over the road who had her front hedge reduced in size and was then berated by her neighbour for reducing their privacy.

They are both part of our Neighbours Thursday drinks group. Hope it rains tomorrow!! grin

Well done Kate. Glad progress was made with Henry.

Stay safe everyone.

Grandmabatty Wed 19-Aug-20 08:21:34

Good morning All. It's one of those mornings which could go any way. There's a fairly thick mist/low cloud, but every so often it lifts and a lovely sun shines through. Time will tell! Today will be a quiet one. I have to nip up to dd with dgs jacket which I forgot to take home with him yesterday. I'll have to wait til he's down for a nap as he won't understand why he's not coming in grandma's car! Then a visit to mum. In the afternoon I have a WhatsApp chat with friends. In between I will potter. I am having an influx of fruit flies just now. There aren't too many but I have soda crystals down the kitchen sink and little ramekins with cider vinegar and washing up liquid to drown the pests. Hopefully the combination will send them packing. Susan I'm glad that your lovely wee Henry has a diagnosis and they'll monitor him. mellow dinosaur gingerbread sounds like a wonderful idea. I will definitely look into those. Urmston and pants have a lovely day in the Spanish heat. grandmafrench I hope the olive tree roots behaved themselves and you got it under control without too much effort in the heat. Everyone have a good day.

Grandmabatty Wed 19-Aug-20 08:28:33

grandmafrench my dgs was better yesterday. He's still not eating lots and the boy has a prodigious appetite! But we had a lovely day together yesterday. I hope you haven't got a chill after your unexpected soaking! ☺

Urmstongran Wed 19-Aug-20 08:28:45

Thanks Grandmabatty ?

Marydoll Wed 19-Aug-20 08:29:10

Good morning all from a misty Glasgow. I spoke too soon yesterday, I had the nightmares last night!? It involved all the goings on on GN yesterday. I need to get a life!!

Susan, I posted on Soops Kitchen about wee Henry. He is such a cutie, then the post disappeared. Just remember that photo of my big strapping son to give you hope!?

I did make it to Sainsbury's yesterday and it was much busier than expected. I found myself getting quite anxious, trying to keep my distance. The worst offender was my husband with other shoppers!!!

I had a sortie into the clothes part and did indeed buy essentials, pyjamas. I usually have a stash of new ones for the times I have to go into to hospital, but the stash has been badly depleted during lockdown. I have become obsessed with the need to stock up again! Shielding has definitely had an adverse effect on me. I was never interested in that type of clothes shopping. ?

I'm off to do battle personally with the pharmacy over the missing medication. I was going to drive myself, (confidence boosting) , but I have a really painful shoulder, so DH will have to drive. Its too complicated to change pharmacies, before anyone suggests that.

The missing meds were supposed to come in on Monday, but I waited until yesterday afternoon to phone, to give it plenty time.
Unfortunately I got the crabbit ( very bad tempered) dispenser again.

Me: I'm calling to check if my missing prescriptions are ready.

Dispenser: What missing medication?

The one which were missing on Friday
There were 13 prescriptions, some with only very small amounts dispensed and some missing.

You have to give us enough time to get them

I ordered them, eleven days ago!

Huge sigh! How many are missing? Another huge sigh

I would appreciate if you could please check.

Sigh, I will need to look it up!!

So the conversation continued, me using my conciliatory, dealing with difficult parent, teacher voice.
I said I would come over ( to the next town) this morning.

I thought someone usually picks your medication up for you, as you have been sheilding.

I know, but my SIL is on honeymoon and you won't deliver.

Don't come in the morning, too risky for you!!!! .

So I shall plant a fixed smile on my face, hand over some chocolates, and thank them for all their hard work in these difficult times.
Life was so much easier when I was working! ?

Wishing you all a pleasant day and for those struggling at the moment, virtual hugs.
