Don't think children under a certain age are considered as part of the number

They may not be in Scotland, but are in England.

Taichinan Wed 30-Sep-20 13:16:29

Happy Birthday Bellasnonna. I hope you have a lovely day

Taichinan Wed 30-Sep-20 13:14:08

Cherry so sorry your under the weather again. I hope things pick up soon for you. Thank you for the birthday wishes, and your comment GD's painting. She is talented, but not creative with it and doesn't want to go to Art College. A lovely hobby though. Take care

CherryCezzy Wed 30-Sep-20 13:02:12

Good afternoon everyone from the Gower. I've had a few tough mornings recently, hence the late post today.

Apologies for the belated Happy Birthday wishes Taichinan ? ? ?. What a fantastic painting by your DGD1, she's very talented.

Happy Anniversary to Mrs and Mr Marydoll. It was apparently "for poorer" when you started your marital life but has clearly improved since ?. Alcohol free ?? for you, enjoy your special day together.

I hope things are steadily improving for you both BlueSapphire and gillybob ?

Hope everyone is having a decent day. Take care and stay safe ❤️

Happy Birthday Bellasnonna ???

Urmstongran my iPad is six years old, have replaced the battery. I think you will find that the problem is that you are unable to update to the latest software (iOS 14). That is what I was told. AC has got me the latest one just waiting to sync it with my iPhone and laptop.

Jaxjacky Wed 30-Sep-20 12:37:12

Bellannona Many Happy Returns and Marydoll Happy Anniversary.
As I’m usually early, have to look in for the celebrations!

Borrheid55 Wed 30-Sep-20 12:16:14

Happy anniversary! Glad to hear that after all those years you still want to celebrate! I still refer to my OH as my new husband even after 28 years! Re the flu jab - I got mine two Saturdays ago in our surgery car park. Very slick organisation, very impressed. Even had time for a pneumonia jab too. First one since 1980 - I reacted badly then. No reaction this time, phew! Sorry to hear you’re in need of regular injections. Getting older brings all sorts of lovely surprises.
Have a lovely day with Mr Marydoll! X

A very Happy Anniversary to Mr and Mrs Marydoll with many more to come.thanks

A late good morning all from South Notts where we've had some welcome rain. It'll be good for the garden in general and the oxalis in particular which I planted yesterday in the front border. I'm hoping it'll provide good ground cover, keeping the weeds down. This was kindly given to me by one of my quilting friends. Apparently it can go a bit berserk but I don't mind that.

I'm just pottering today, doing a bit of decluttering, tidying and sewing etc. A 'please myself' day.

Hope all is well for everyone especially those with worries or illness.

Feelingmyage55 Wed 30-Sep-20 11:27:22

Good morning. It is raining stair rods today after a very windy night. Happy anniversary the the Marydolls. That sounds as if you should be a pair of babushkas! I just have to know why you had cracked ribs that day?
No garden visits because it is so cold now and I need ideas for the greenhouse over winter so will spend an hour or so with Mr Google, then some armchair cycling and a visit to Paris for some tennis.
I do wish we could support gillybob and miss her posts.
GranmaFrench My friend who should be in quarantine turned up - why? Amends will have to be made in the future and I don’t why I am working out how to?
Pause
A lovely friend has sent me flower to cheer me up. I have just had a little weep. How kind of her. Have the best day you can everyone in spite of everything. ?to you all. Pass it on! X

Good morning all from Bedfordshire Wolds! Sunny but rain due this afternoon. Field hedge cutting at the back, grabber truck at the front, builders at the side, all go here!

GrannyOwl5 Wed 30-Sep-20 11:16:59

Good morning everyone from a darkening north Kent; think the promised rain is on its way.
Just returned from the garden centre with bulbs and pansies. Called in yesterday, but it looked very busy so swerved out the car park without going in.
Pottering in the greenhouse today, then a bit more of my jigsaw and then reading my book - really good novel by Jane Harper: ‘The Survivors’; one for your Kindle list Urmstongran!
Congratulations to those celebrating and good wishes to those with worries or health issues.
Stay safe everyone

Good Morning all from wet and dreary Harrogate, Happy anniversary Mr & Mrs Marydoll, hope you manage a good one despite everything! Am probably going to have to spend today phoning my friends and rellies in North Wales - we were supposed to be going next week. We have postponed our accommodation until next year. I feel so depleted after spending hours on the phone to Morrisons about deliveries. Somehow they manage to delete my delivery on thursday??? Thought I would wait until next week - wish I could just go to the shops!!
Georgesgran, Grammaretto and Gilly, sorry you are having a hard time just now. Hope things improve soon

Doodle Wed 30-Sep-20 11:11:08

Not a regular poster but just wanted to wish Mr & Mrs Marydoll happy anniversary. Hope you have a good day.
Holding gillybob in my thoughts.
Have a good day all

Morning from a gloomy w/York's snug change from yesterday which was a very bright warm day we managed a good walk so happy to stay at home today picking gd up from school today happy anniversary marydoll we celebrated ours last week .stay safe everyone .

Good morning from a grey, overcast Durham.

My goodness - a big thank you to everyone who posted about DH yesterday and today.

Very worrying when he was given an unexpected ECG but apparently nothing wrong and his heart’s strong. The blood count was high enough for him to have his chemo injection but going back next Tuesday to check on it again and he may get a booster. The main concern is that the result of the CTscan done almost 3 weeks ago is still unknown. Treatment can continue if the ‘growth is static’ but any increase and the treatment will stop. One of the specialist nurses says she will chase the Consultant, but he assured us he would ring when he had them. We’ve had a roller coaster ride since he was first (mis)diagnosed 5 years ago and so much ‘promised’ treatment has failed to materialize, as he’s been too ill at the point of having it and abandoned.

I’m sure there are others a lot worse off, so I should stop moaning! Totally confused here by Boris last night - would be interesting to visit a cafe/bar and see how many are not with their own bubbles!

As someone once said - these things will come to pass.

Hope everyone has the best day today. X

Grammaretto Wed 30-Sep-20 10:32:08

Good morning from the Scottish Borders where it is about to rain so the washing has gone up on the pully.
The hospital cancelled DH's appointment yesterday but he had a phone consultation with a nurse instead. So we went for a lovely drive and picnicked by an ancient castle ruin. Hardly another soul about and gorgeous sunshine..

Happy Anniversary Marydolls!! enjoy the day flujab

We have made new appointments for ours which, because of shielding, has to be at a precise time at a weekend.

Have a great day everybody

Grandmafrench Wed 30-Sep-20 10:24:32

Good Morning and thank you to Greyduster for making me (and DH) laugh out loud this morning.

Beautiful day here in the S of France. Yesterday we were able to resume normal service in the garden and by the pool - clearing and cleaning and re-potting things, and then a nice cold pre-supper apéro. Mine was not a G&T, just a T ! Lost 2 kilos so far without pain, so keeping on with the diet.

Very sad to read yet another example of family life going wrong, AuntiFlo. Everyone has had such struggles this year with family events. Think that that is worse than failed holidays, but maybe that's just me. Hopefully you have both put on your big girl pants now and will be looking forward to all the available videos, photos, etc., to pore over at your leisure. I expect your GD is terribly disappointed as well.

Happy Happy Anniversary Marydolls. Never mind about the weather or mud splashes on the frock - what we want to hear about is cracked ribs and 3p to your name! Were you still behaving badly 43 years ago? It certainly sounds like it!

Happy Birthday to you, Bellanonna. Hope you are marking the day, even though you may have mixed feelings at this time. You deserve it and she would want you to be happy and carry on with a happy life, wouldn't she.

Worrying times for Georgesgran and Grammaretto. Keeping everything crossed and wishing so hard for you and your dear ones.

Glad you're a bit better Nortstat. Not sure that HMRC - or whatever daft title they have assumed since our leaving the UK - will be contributing to your well-being. Why do we always always have to do the chasing?

Elizabeth hoping that you're looking after yourself properly if you have caught a chill. I bet your trip was definitely worth it, but you need to keep well. Many applications of that heated blanket must be made - along with a toasty room to sit in - without a hint of a draught to disturb you.

You're totally right, Gingster but, as if often the case, best saying nothing. Corner do you get the feeling that Dentists are becoming more like hairdressers - always leaving?

Wishing you all a decent day - in spite of a general feeling of rain or greyness on the Thread today. Carry on regardless shall be the aim. I am sitting in the (hot) sun having my coffee - not sure what needs to be done first but the vacuum cleaner seems to be giving me some side eye....so perhaps I should start (late) with that.

Take good care of yourselves and to all those with worries, sadness or concerns, may life get brighter and better very very soon.

Hugs from across The Channel

Morning All! Strong wind and rain on the Angus coast today - what a contrast to yesterday! I had a lovely day - and thank you all for the good wishes. DD and I talked non-stop for two hours (extended lunch hour for her) followed by a lovely browse round the farm and gift shop. I didn't manage to fit in a browse round M&S - gone are the days of endless energy! Got home to find numerous hand-delivered cards through the door plus a bunch of flowers and a card on the bench. Picked than all up and then realised I didn't know which card belonged to the flowers! Then a parcel arrived for which I had to show proof of my age. Nice to know that on my 79th birthday
.Thinking of I don't look a day over 18!!! (It was a bottle of Edinburgh Gin, my favourite). Also got this lovely painting done by DGD1. Perfect day.

Thinking of Georgesgran and Mr G with your awful worries and sending ?. As you say Pantglas, it is easier to suffer yourself rather than watch someone you love suffer. Take care GG.

NanKate enjoy your pastels lesson - lovely to get it from an artist!

Happy Anniversary Marydoll. Your wedding day sounds just like the Marydoll we know and love!

GrannyGravy - bacon, scrambled egg and spaghetti? Wow!

NannyJan your garden looks absolutely lovely.. And Brook I hope you're dry now! I can just imagine the panic stations!!

Now, it's tai chi classes this evening so must get myself moving. This really is becoming an all consuming thread. Have the best day you can everyone. ???

Urmstongran Wed 30-Sep-20 10:14:48

Aargh! Lost my post. You’ll all be pleased to receive an edited version.

Sun’s up here ?
Good morning everyone from Malaga where Cesar is busy in our gardens. The sprinklers are on the grass and he’s just roped off the bigger pool for the autumn. It cuts down the cost for the block.

I think my iPad needs replacing when I go home. I shall go into the Apple store and talk to one on their Geniuses in the Trafford Centre. I’ve had this one six years and had a new battery put in just over a year ago but quite regularly it will show say 68% charge and then - bink - it cuts out. So annoying!

Happy anniversary Marydoll. It rained on the September day we got married and a female guest said to me ‘happy is the bride the rain falls on’. Seems she was right!

Hope Wednesday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Good morning Mick and the GM team, from a mild east London.

I had flowers yesterday from a friend, who knows I have been unwell. A lovely surprise.
So I sent some flowers to my cousin, who is waiting for the results of her brain scan.

It looks like the weather is fine enough for a walk, this morning. I am tempted to suggest a cautious lunch out ... but not sure ...

Salmon and a stir fry for supper.

I am still waiting for information to complete a form required by HMRC. They make a mistake and then they take their own sweet time in correcting it. Then I have to chase them ... this will be the second time ... and the phone calls are lengthy and expensive. Do I receive an apology... don’t be silly, of course not.
Grumble over.

? for those facing challenges today.
Have a very happy anniversary the Marydolls.
Thinking of gilly and Bluesapphire.
Let’s be careful out there, team. ?

Good morning Mick, Annie, and all, from a dull bit of Berks.
Happy Anniversary Mr and Mrs Marydoll. Have a lovely day.

We should have been at our granddaughter's wedding on Saturday, but now with the number restrictions, that is not possible. We both had a little weep about that on the phone.

Later I am off for a mooch around a garden centre with my friend, and possibly a coffee.

I made a lovely apple cake in the morning, before I went off to my volunteering. I didn't like having to wear a mask all the time in the shop. Still needs must and I will get used to it.

Better get a move on or my friend will be here before I am ready.
Have a good day one and all.
