Hi all,
It was my birthday today and I got the Ariana Grande Thank U Next perfume as my cousins had it, and it's absolutely divine. It's my new favourite.
I also love Gucci Bloom, Alien and Black Opium although I've never had them.
What about you? X

I wear Paloma Picasso. Have done for years. It seems to suit me and it stays on my skin. Not cheap tho!

Dior Joy, and Jo Malone Seasalt and Woodsage

^I tried Cinnabar years ago and my friend said that I smelled like a rice pudding!
I might try it again as I should like it . It’s also a lot cheaper than my favourites.^

Perfumes come in five basic types. These types include Perfume, better known as parfum Eau de Parfum, Eau de Toilette, Eau de Cologne, and Eau Fraiche.

The lowest priced Cinnabar is still expensive, so if it's a lot cheaper than your favourites, you must be one expensive lady. Kudos to you.

Hermes Amazon’s - only obtainable at the most expensive perfumery departments, sadly.

Little black bottle with pink dipstick anyone?

I haven't seen that for years, is it still available?

That's one thing I miss during lockdown, trying different perfumes in JL.
I would never buy one because someone else recommended it, because they can smell differently on different people.

COTY L’AIMANT

My mother used to wear that.

FlyingHxndbag Sat 31-Oct-20 23:34:31

jdga, thanks. X

COTY L’AIMANT
Was just a random thought that popped into my head. I seem to be prone to a lot of them lately!
It was my Mum’s favourite in the 60/70s. My Dad always bought it for birthday and Christmas presents for her. I still have my Mum’s last one in a small bag containing a few momentos.

Spangler Cinnabar is a positive bargain compared to my favourites I already listed.

According to JL the current prices are :-

Estée Lauder Cinnabar - 50ml EDP £52
Aesop Marrakech Intense - 10ml Parfum £67
Aesop Marrakech Intense - EDT 50ml £65
Tom Ford Oud Wood - 50ml EDP £174
Tom Ford Oud Wood Intense - 50ml EDP £220

My current favourites are Chanel 5 and J’Adore. I don’t save them for special occasions.

Another favourite for at least 20 years is a real cheapie. I wear it several times each week and it often raises a nice comment. Good old faithful Avon Rare Gold. It costs about £10/12 direct from Avon but I get it on line for £6 I love it and feel happy when I wear it.

Similarly dh has several more expensive after shaves and body sprays that get occasionally used such as Hugo Boss, D & G etc but he prefers to buy himself Old Spice. Must say I rather like it and have been known to use his OS shower gel and body spray.

For fun last Christmas my ds made his dad a stocking containing his favourites of Old Spice and Brut. He even put in some Hai Karate and dh was delighted.

Gucci Flora, not many perfumes last on me, but this does. Perfume only, as l'eau de toilette doesn't last on my skin.
Many perfumes smell lovely on other people, I put a spray on, gone completely in an hour.

Georgesgran Sun 01-Nov-20 08:39:25

CK Obsession for me - can’t really smell it myself, but others comment, so it must suit me.
Most Jo Malone’s too, especially pomegranate noir.

TerriBull Sun 01-Nov-20 08:51:11

I forgot to add Jo Malone's Blackberry and Bay to my current favourites. Whilst I've got to like several of the JM range over the years, Mandarin, Basil and Lime was another I used, I do find they don't have a lot of staying power.

Shropshirelass Sun 01-Nov-20 09:06:15

Chanel Chance

I can't abide any perfume; it makes me heave to be close to anyone wearing any. Disgusting stuff; I'd ban it!!!

For once, I kind of agree with you.

Just a whiff of it I don't mind, but anything more and I too find it nauseating.

Georgesgran Sun 01-Nov-20 09:30:10

TB - agree that the JM’s don’t have much staying power.
3 bottles of CK last a year and I use it every day, so not too extravagant - usually get it for Christmas, birthday and Mothers Day. DDs are keen bargain hunters and found it for £20 one year.
