Good Morning Everyone,
Its a dark start this morning here in Brackley , think the outside temperatures are going to be very low this morning, and the cold grey skies above .
Today nothing much may compile my xmas card list , as we start week 3 of this lockdown ,and await what next has the government got in mind?
Take Care ,
Mick

Good morning team Mick from S Lanarkshire where the sky is slowly brightening and casting a lovely pink and lilac glow.

Today I have a few orders to collect from various shops. I’m betting on the shops being heaving today before they have to close tomorrow so I’d better get there early.

Hoping you all have the best day possible. Look after yourselves.

Good morning from now dry Morecambe Bay. Sorry to hear you have eye problems Taichigran Hope it all goes well when you get to the Big hospital.
We went for a walk yesterday choosing a time in the forecast when we thought the rain if at all would be at its lightest. Unfortunately as we were beyond the point of no return the heavens opened and the wind howled. We returned like drowned rats despite our waterproof clothing. They are still hanging over the dining room chairs and are still wet this morning. Not to be put off though! We have arranged to walk with DS2 today. He’s supposedly in our bubble as he is single and hasn’t really got anyone else, but as he’s in work I don’t want to meet him inside. Hopefully it will be a bit drier today.
Take care and stay safe everyone ?

Lins1066 Thu 19-Nov-20 08:16:00

Good morning Mick and all. Dry, windy and colder here on the S Welsh coast. We too have managed to book tickets for a walk at a NT property NanKate. Not sure if Mr Lins will walk though, he may just come for the ride and sit in the car.
Taichinan I'm glad you persevered with the optician and that you have have a diagnosis. My father in law had those injections, he didn't feel anything at all.
I thought I hadn't seen you posting farview ? Enjoy your restorative walk. Have a pleasant day and stay safe everyone.

Good morning Mick and all

Definitely a bit nippy here in S E Essex, I must crack on with writing my Christmas Cards. I am trying so hard to be happy and smiling when the AC and GC FaceTime but honestly it is getting more difficult each time!!!!

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️

Urmstongran Thu 19-Nov-20 08:31:46

Anyone seen posts from Maw?
Hope all’s well. x

Good morning from a bright breezy south Cornwall, perfect for drying my washing! Am sorting my craft room so I can hold a mini party for my grandson's 11th birthday on Saturday. Very, very mini, but he is a sweet boy and will enjoy it.

Today I'm giving my daughter, who doesn't live near me, a virtual tour of Tesco. We do this quite often. She is blind and although she can go shopping she obviously doesn't know what's on all the shelves, so I'll ring her and talk her around the shop and then she'll know what to buy when she goes out on her own. It's great fun for both of us.

Have the best day you can, everyone.

Mapleleaf Thu 19-Nov-20 08:48:44

Good morning all,

A lot cooler today than yesterday f late but there are some breaks in the cloud so I’m hoping for a brighter day.
Grandmattie I hope you don’t have long to wait for the new circuit board. We had a similar problem last mo th after the power surge damaged our heating. It took about a week for the part to arrive but in the meantime had to do the same as you and switch the heating on and off in the garage so that we wouldn’t get too hot through the night and too cold during the day. A bit of a faff, but fortunately it wasn’t for too long.
We had the gas appliances serviced yesterday as well so fingers crossed nothing goes awry there!

Pilates class shortly then afterwards I will come back and read the rest of the posts - I’ve only read the first few.

Yes, week 3 starting already Mick. In some ways it seems ages ago since it started and n other ways not so long. Here’s hoping that the vaccines get the necessary approval before much longer.

Keep safe everyone ?

Good morning from North Yorkshire where the sun is shining.
Boiler pressure had dropped overnight so there was no hot water. Managed to sort it thankfully. Last time I had to call a neighbour to help move one of the valves.
Yesterday I got through to the bank after 40 minutes only to be told I needed a face to face appointment to do what they need. So far so good but the appointment would be after February and in Leeds or Newcastle....we are half way betweeen. Or ring back in the New Year ....
Charity zoom this morning with our parents’ group then a walk later with a friend.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Urmston I saw a MawBe post yesterday. Is that a new poster or a name change?

aggie Thu 19-Nov-20 08:52:19

Good Morning all, it is quite bright out , no idea of the temperature.
Wet and windy during the night .
I have the Christmas puds made and put away , I can distribute them to various homes , but I am staying put in my own here , no point in courting the virus

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Good morning from Shropshire.A rainy and breezy start but forecast to brighten up later.

We started watching the latest series of The Crown yesterday.Limited ourselves to two episodes so will watch another two later.

DH is rearranging the garage and so I will just do a bit of this and a bit of that in the house.

I saw Maw had posted on the Christmas break thread Urmstongran.

Thinking of all our missing posters especially gilly and all unwell and with worries.Have a good day all.

Marydoll Thu 19-Nov-20 08:54:47

Good morning all from a much colder Glasgow, Its only 3°C. I'm not complaining, its dry!.

DS2 messaged yesterday to say that he was intending to come after work to get the items, stored in our garage, before the new Lockdown restrictions kicked in.
I know I said I was planning to rest, but I thought making him some Mars Bar cake would be stress free and stop me feeling sorry for myself.
Quite the opposite! I KNEW I had at least two multipacks of fake Mars bar in my seige supplies cupboard, but couldn't find them anywhere. I'm a very methodical person and everything has its place, but they were nowhere to be found.
Eventually after searching every cupboard twice, and those in between, there was no sign of them. Even my good at improvising brain, couldn't come up with an alternative. ?

So I decided to make piles of Christmas presents in preparation for wrapping.
You are going to think I'm mad, but my failing health has got me thinking, I may not feel well enough or not even be here to organise things ( just being realistic), so I started rummaging in my numerous hidey holes and made piles of presents for each of my children and partners.
I tend to do lots of stocking fillers. Worried that DH wouldn't have a clue what was for whom, I have put post it stickers on each pile. This was actually a very clever idea, as I have realised that I have far too much for DD, but not enough for my boys!
The crunch line is, the Mars Bars were in amongst the Christmas presents! ?
Now own up, who brought the Mars Bars upstairs and put them in the spare room? It certainly wasn't me ?

DS couldn't fit everything into his car and suggested that we bring the rest over tonight and see his new house before it becomes illegal to cross counties on Friday. We are not allowed in peoples' homes, but I think I will make a pretty good stab at looking through the windows.
What he is totally unaware of is that his sister, my comedian DD, has accessed all the beer he had stashed in our garage and she has wrapped every single can in brown parcel tape for a joke. He will not be amused. She should be afraid, very afraid of his reaction. ?

We too had difficulties with Zoom yesterday. The plan was to talk to DGD on her birthday, what a disaster initially. I tried everything to access the link DS1 had sent me, even asking for a reset password link, all to no avail.
It turned out DS, the host, hadn't actually logged in. ?
We haven't seen her physically since the day she started school in August, so we were very excited.
She was so hyper and was telling me all about school. It reminded me of DS2 who was the same due to his asthma medication. A feeling of déjàvu.
I told her I was coming into her school to take her over class, as her gran didn't want to hear about naughty children.
She thought this would be a great idea and promise to behave, but I would need to giver her cuddles if I was her teacher. ! We were exhausted at the end of it. ?

We had some sad news yesterday. The sister of DH's golfing partner died in hospital of pneumonia and was too ill to be put on a ventilator. I know her well, as she is the sister in law of my friend the Ebay queen.
My friend found her difficult to get on with, so at every family event and wedding, she would sit her next to me, as I can talk to anyone, which I think was meant to be a compliment!
HWhat is even sadder is my friend's husband thinking it was his sister calling, answered his phone, but it was her son, telling him she had only hours to live.
As she lives in Inverness, there was no way he could get there to say his goodbyes. ?

I need to get up, as I have a ham hough, which I plan to make soup with and SIL is going to come up with my medication, so he will not leave empty handed, Mars Bar cake included!
Fortunately, in anticipation of feeling ropey, I have a stash of vegetables ready prepared in the freezer, so it won't be difficult.

Wishing everyone a pleasant day. Farview, glad to see you more upbeat. Hoping today is a better day for everyone with sorrows to contend with. Corner, I hope you got your meds sorted out. A similar situation happened to me. It turned out my CD needed to be reviewed, but my GP forgot to action it and the prescription was denied. ?

Take care everyone.

Marydoll Thu 19-Nov-20 08:56:14

Mawbe is our Maw !

harrigran Thu 19-Nov-20 09:03:37

Good morning from a bright but cold NE.
Better night's sleep, feel more human this morning.
GP surgery just rung and brought DH's injection forward by three hours which is good.
DIL is having new washer delivered today, she was told she had to get the old one out of the house, oh for the good old days when they installed and took away the old one.
DS has a birthday next month, got a message from DIL to say he needs a new phone and she will send a link, sorted.
Nothing in the fridge for meals, must get something out of the freezer.
Have a good day.

Good morning Mick and the GM team from east London, where it was sunny a moment ago and now it’s grey.
I had a disturbed night and I woke at 5.15 this morning, had a hot drink and went back to sleep until 8.15.

We had takeaway pizza and a bottle of wine last night. This follows my partner’s birthday on Tuesday and the birthday meal. So back to some rather more prosaic food today.

I am cross with an unknown dog owner, at the moment. When I walked to the park yesterday, I inadvertently put my walking stick into a pile of dog poo, which was in the middle of the pavement. It was a horrible job to clean, as the rubber base of my walking stick is ridged, and was encrusted with the d***ed stuff.
I love dogs and find that most owners are responsible and clear up after their pets, but the thoughtless owners are a nuisance to everyone...

Good wishes to all those facing challenges today. Wishing Maryd and Dragonfly a good day. Good morning to gilly. Have a good day all ... must run, I want to listen to Barack Obama being interviewed by David Olusoga on BBCR4 ?

lemsip Thu 19-Nov-20 09:06:01

Wet in my part of Norfolk but hope it will brighten up later ready for my long walk.

Grandmafrench Thu 19-Nov-20 09:20:34

Good Morning everyone. Another glorious day here in Southern France. Glad you were cheered by all the comforting comments, Bellasnanna - plenty of lovely people on here, thank goodness. Rotten news about your eye, Taichinan. But we know you’ll boldly go with good humour (and only the tiniest wobble?) Get it put right, that’s the thing!

Feeling a bit more positive, farview ? Walking is just what you need and hope it doesn’t turn into a swimming session, like gelisa.grin Great teamwork, mellow, and sounds like your DD has your ‘can do’ approach. Only thing better than a bowl of warming soup, is soup in a bowl of treasured memories, Lanarkshire Lady! A wonderful dog we owned years ago came from Sarlat. Such a pretty area. You really raced ahead with that new kitchen, Jax.....although it possibly has felt like an age to you.

You/we are all determined to just crack on and try not to let crummy COVID threats get us down. We’re going to do this. No magic potions, but now at last some real hope in view with promised vaccines, so let’s keep up our spirits and the ever present search for happiness. Don’t let that escape.

Be safe, dear people. Take care and always remember
“Where’s that British, stiff upper lip?”
“Just above the wobbly lower one!” ?

Hugs from ???‍♀️??

GrannyOwl5 Thu 19-Nov-20 09:26:33

Good morning everyone from a chilly but dry north Kent.

Lots of interesting posts this morning; hope you all enjoy your walks, sorting of presents, cooking and crafting. Everyone seems a bit more positive this morning; perhaps we sense that we are at the beginning of the end with the good news about the vaccines continuing.

Some more pottering in the garden this morning hoping to blow away the cobwebs in the brisk wind in between doing some washing. I think there is another family living in the attic who put their clothes in my laundry basket. It fills up so quickly considering there’s only the two of us living here. We are either very dirty or very clean - can’t decide!

Hope you all have a good day. Stay safe

CherryCezzy Thu 19-Nov-20 09:42:37

Good morning everyone from the Gower. The sky is blue here this morning but it's cold, brr.

Urmstongran, Maw posted on the Lockdown thread last night.

I had a blinding headache (migraine) with flashing lights for most of the day so didn't post or unfortunately read yesterday's thread. I hope those of you who were feeling under the weather or down have a much better day today.

I dreamt last night I was stuck in a hall of mirrors - what was that all about ?. I also had a lovely dream about my dear mother, much better, and woke up in a good mood after it ?

My WP and me have to nip into the City Centre today, eek! Needs must however, I just hope it's quiet.
I've finally got an appointment with the optician but it's not for a couple of weeks ?. I can't wait to get my reading glasses fixed but since I'm also having an eye test perhaps I won't need to.

Fairview pleased to hear that the black dog is retreating ?

Taichinan hope your eye injection goes well in the hospital. It's the sort of thing that makes me feel uncomfortable thinking about it but apparently it's painless ?

Sounds like your DGD had a good birthday Marydoll ?. Now my lady don't go overdoing things, methinks you are doing too much. Take care of you please, pretty please.

Take care and stay safe everyone and if possible find a ? wherever you can ❤️

BlueSapphire Thu 19-Nov-20 09:50:28

Hello and good morning from a very wet Northampton. Hope it stops by the time I need to walk to the post box to post my baby brother's birthday card - he turns 68 on Monday, where has the time gone? He had pneumonia shortly after he was born and wasn't expected to live, and about 5 years ago came through kidney and bowel cancer. He is now a happily retired priest, but still filling in and taking services. He comes in handy for family weddings and christenings!

Did not have a good night as pain in my back just below my left shoulder kept me awake; I have had this before a few months ago, and it feels as though I have pulled a muscle. Have just taken a pain killer; hope it gives me some relief soon. Was going to change the bedding today, but might leave it till tomorrow.

The boiler was successfully serviced yesterday - I did not even see the engineer; he came in through the side door, straight into the utility room while I stayed the other side of the kitchen door, and phoned me when he'd finished. He also changed the batteries in the thermostat, I'd been wondering what that strange sign was on the display for months! Didn't even know that it had batteries.

May make a cake today to take to DD's tomorrow, will have to check to see if I have enough of everything. Looks as though it has stopped raining so I will be able to get out to the postbox.

Hope all have a good day.

Grammaretto Thu 19-Nov-20 10:01:44

Good morning from the Scottish Borders where the sun is shining at last after a pretty miserable week.
I hope to have an "empty" day today but already that looks unlikely.
DS is determined to build a level route through our garden for a wheelchair. I envisage a quagmire, followed by abandonment of the project as being impossible without machinery and a team of professionals.
I know he wants to be a help while he's here for such a short time but I wish I could steer him towards something else.
He's a huge help just by being here but he doesn't see it like that.

Glad to see Farview is getting out again and I hope to go for a walk later if DS can hold the fort.

I am glad you saw DGD on her birthday Marydoll if only virtually.
Hoping everyone's day goes well.

Feelingmyage55 Thu 19-Nov-20 10:14:07

Good morning from the North of Scotland where it is, for once, quiet and calm, but I don’t know for how long. The torrential rain yesterday made even putting the bin out a veritable expedition. I’ve made spicy parsnip soup as it’s definitely that time of year when only homemade soup will do. Happy to hear you ‘saw’ your little DGD yesterday Marydoll even if only virtually. Will she go to school while you are in Tier 4?
Mick glad you are taking care. Hopefully only another week and you might be safer out and about.
I missed the tennis yesterday. It didn’t record and I was saving it for the evening so today I have treats and will watch live. My lovely AC got together and sent me flowers which was a lovely surprise. I thought I’d been putting on a brave face and I was very touched.
I might be daft but I have got out some Christmas lights to brighten the November gloom. It is very early bit in this strange year, why not - well the house across
the road has put theirs up and why not ‘keep up with the Jones’s? Let’s all keep on keeping on.

GrannySomerset Thu 19-Nov-20 10:31:12

Well, the Great Washing Machine problem remains unsolved but we may have a blocked drain - every other possibility having been exhausted. Plumber coming tomorrow but suspect will have to find a drain man. Ugh! Am exhausted by it all.

Waiting for the hairdresser, dressed like a spaceman, to come and cut what is left of DH’s hair and then maybe a Tesco run. Sunny and raining at present but can’t see a rainbow.

Thinking of all those unwell, worried or unhappy.

EllanVannin Thu 19-Nov-20 10:36:44

Good Morning All x.
Not so bad weather-wise though beautifully clear earlier it's clouded over a bit which means it's not as cold as it was. Sun's out now so a pleasant day in prospect. I wish I had washing to do grin

The squirrels were noisy before and sounded like an old chainsaw in the distance but they haven't been begging here yet. They've polished off all the nuts and I had to resort to coconut biscuits yesterday.

I'm not dressed yet but won't leave it late in case D suddenly calls so a wash instead of a shower today.
Hoping to win a bid on a large selection of various arts and crafts to divide between two GGD's who are very arty. I must say the price has increased rapidly but because it'll be between two it works out well.

Saus. mash and beans today. Doing so well with my menus to keep me going, mainly plain meals as I'm not experimental in my cooking. More nourishing and filling is my motto.

Glad we were all able to give Bellasnana that bit of a lift yesterday, a problem shared and all that, it does work x
Hope everything goes as planned for Dragonfly. x
Taichinan too, it won't be as bad as it sounds but will go towards helping the troubled eye. x

I keep saying it but Marydoll's physical problems make me so grateful that I've reached 80 without many of the ills that strike most in their younger years. This also goes for the majority of sufferers. x

Drink in that sunshine, warmth and atmosphere Urmston as the time now will go quickly by the time you've tied up loose ends----if you've got any loose ends, that is grin One thing for sure you should feel pretty relaxed.

Thoughts go out to all those who are finding things a bind, Mick included. I'm actually beginning to have that feeling myself and " scared of being scared " to venture out. I must pull myself together. Only twice have I been into the village since March and the last time ended in the jitters.

Love to all anyway and enjoy the day as it comes, Gilly too x
Stay safe is the main thing. xx

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 19-Nov-20 10:37:06

Good Morning all from Sunny but breezy Harrogate. Well I thought I was going to have an 'empty' this morning. But DH has arrange this a.m. for the service to our heat pump to come, and we have a shopping being delivered any moment. I have also hung out a wash (it's freezing out there) and have another wash on!. Thought I'd better get cracking with GN, still no-one arrived and I've sort of read the threads.
Hoping to get my mincemeat made this pm, then mince pies over the weekend
Hope everyone is feeling a bit better today.
