Good morning from a dark, still E Kent.
The forecast is for the temperature to drop and drop all day. We’re not used to this down here!
Spanish class this morning. I’m still struggling after a 6 month break, no one to speak it to. It’ll get better, although I’m finding Zoom classes unsatisfactory.
The engineer came for our boiler yesterday and after testing exhaustively, decided it was the circuit board. Don’t know how long that’ll take to order and install. Mercifully, the heating can be used manually, though it means a trip to the garage to switch on and off.
I hope that those in pain and sadness, especially our own Marydoll have an acceptable day. Stay safe. ❤️

Good morning Mick and all to come on a cold morning here in north Surrey.
I will continue on my deep clean of the house today which is keeping me busy and happy. LauraN I would love to make a start on decorating our lounge but it is a big job, lounge/diner, hall and stairs. We had extension built in 1999 and had laminate wood flooring put down. It has lasted well but needs replacing now so that is on my want/need list for next year.
I have a walk planned with DS’s partner and DGDs this afternoon and DH will make requested stew for dinner.

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s dark and dry.
Going back to read yesterday’s thread I found many of you had some worrying things going on in your lives ?

I’ve been waiting for a dry day to clean my car, inside and out before it goes for a service next week. Another job I could do is change over my shoes for the winter to the cupboard by the door. I must remember to put out the bin while I have the garage door open as the gate has taken on it’s winter stuck shut. I’m going to have to get my thinking cap on!

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s still dark and quite cold today so we’ll need to wrap up warm brrrrr!
I’m looking forward to meeting a friend for coffee this morning and then a bit more shopping - DD2 thinks I’m her personal shopper just now so I’m always on the look out for things on her shopping list too ... ?
Other than that nothing else planned for today, will have to think of something to cook for dinner later, I’m nowhere near as organised with my cooking as some of you lovely GMorningers seem to be - I definitely must try harder ...

Good morning from Malta where it’s a grey start to the day but, so far, dry and mild.

Thank you all so much for your kind words yesterday. You really helped me feel I wasn’t on my own. The worries are not going to go away in a hurry, but I feel a bit more able to cope so thank you from my heart, and sorry for bringing the thread down.

I did walk up to the village yesterday, just as the heavens opened but I didn’t get too wet. Had a coffee, went to the pharmacy then later watched the tennis.

Had a long FaceTime with DD2 and DGD in Florida. DGD has just got braces on her teeth, very pretty ones, but she said they were hurting. I suggested a spoonful of Calpol or the equivalent, so her mum duly gave her some. Not often anyone takes my advice!

DD3 came over for an hour or so. She needed her mum to hug her.

No plans today apart from the tennis. NanKate I always think of you watching at the same time. Did you see ND getting trounced? That really cheered me up! (Aren’t I horrible).

Hoping those of you who are not well or not happy will manage to have a bearable day. How did you get on at your oncologist dear dragonfly? I hope you had good news.

Mick keep your chin up. It is hard for you to be confined to barracks, I feel for you and hope your bus trips will soon be back on.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Just getting light in South Yorkshire but the forecast is reasonable for the day. Hang in there, Mick; we’re all feeling much the same at the moment; treading water. I have a cake to decorate for my son in law’s birthday today which should keep me out of trouble for a bit. Also a pile of ironing I’ve been ignoring. Have a good safe day whatever you’re doing.

We planned to drop off ‘stuff’ for family today and to clean my parents grave, it will be more pleasant in sunshine for sure. Hope today is better for you bellasnana, your advice to Mick is good for us all I think, definite lack of smiles here yesterday, glued back on today. Take care everyone. Good morning Mick and all from a dark, chilly S Hants, think it’s dry. Today’s jobs include transferring contents of old f/freezer to new one, making a stew in the slo cooker and starting to refill the kitchen cupboards. I need to read the manuals for all the appliances too, that’ll be fun!

I’m later than usual as I managed to sleep beyond my normal waking time of 5.30a.m!

Mick It does seem as if the current lockdown in England, although likely to be shorter in length than the first, is taking its toll on the mood of many. So many uncertainties and a lack of decisive leadership aren’t helpful.

It’s good to read of the plans some of you have for your day. Mine involves a walk to our nearest P.O., which is about a mile there and back. I have Christmas tops to post to my grandchildren, including one found by DH in Lidl in France for my DGD which says, “Dancing through the snow” on the front. This is very apt, given that she attends (currently by Zoom) several classes each week.

farview - a walk on the moors sounds like a wonderful tonic and even better to enjoy it with a dog!
Marydoll - take care and I hope you are feeling better today.
grandMattie - I sympathise over Zoom! It’s great for keeping in touch but relies on people taking turns and being mindful of less assertive participants. Yesterday, our weekly local theatre social group (imaginatively named Wednesday Club!) had its regular Zoom with the usual 10 minutes at the start taken up by some needing help to set up the video or audio facility and everyone speaking at once in order to help. DH joins in from France, ahead of our daily Zoom call involving just the two of us.

I was hoping to wrap up a few of the pots in the garden today and some more putting to bed - but not in this weather.

We have a Sainsbury's delivery this afternoon and they still dont have my wine!!

The saga of our lounge continues so we are still hunting for 2 more chairs - so I might do that instead.

Good morning all from a dark but ( I think) dry day on the east coast of Fife . Just heard the bin lorries picking up our rubbish. Had a difficult sleep last night woke at2.30 had trouble falling over again now I’m cosy and don’t want to get up just yet. I do have. a busy morning so I’ll not have much choice. Sadly I’ve a funeral to go to this morning but I’ll just stay in the car and pay my respects from there as the hearse passes by. Hope my dhs asthmatic cough gets better today I’ll just nag him to drink honey and ginger it’s supposed to be a soothing drink has anyone any other ideas how to relieve this type of cough. He was heard last night roaring loudly at the football on tv why was this I wonder?

Good morning All. It's cold with blue skies in Polmont. A definite wintery feel. No extra babysitting today. I'm quite glad as he is very tiring. My friend had good news. Her daughter is pregnant and she didn't think she would have children. Everyone is delighted. I'm going to visit ds this morning as it's his birthday. His area is going into tier four tomorrow so he'll be stuck at home. I have no other plans for today. Pleased you're feeling better farview. Take care all.

Good morning Mick and all who follow. It's not yet light on the Angus coast so I'm not sure if the cloudless sky is matt grey or a cloudless blue - the latter I hope. Hope springs eternal!

Yesterday's visit to the optician was, shall we say, a bit of a surprise. I tried to explain the symptoms over the phone in the summer, during lockdown, but was told it was nothing. But as nothing is getting better I decided it was time to fight my corner and hold out for an appointment. It turns out I have macular oedema and have been referred to the Big Hospital in the City. I feel a bit like Spike Milligan's epitaph - "I told them I was ill"! However it's a very small matter in the great scale of things and so many of you have much worse to cope with so I'm not complaining - just not looking forward to injections into my eye!!

Off out this morning for coffee with a friend, collect some new specs for driving and pay the garage for last week's MOT. Then back to the quiet life and wondering what will happen over Christmas. Same as everyone else really. Hey ho.

The sky outside is actually going to be blue, so that's something! I hope it's blue skies for everybody and the sun shines and all the troubles seem smaller and the black dogs are pretty little puppies. I shall pop back later for all the news. ???

Good morning from sunny Colchester. 10° colder than yesterday so a thicker coat is called for. Cloud is starting to gather and rain is in the forecast.
We need to walk to the Post Office in town to get our ID verified.
Another pile of ironing has mysteriously appeared.

Good morning from a dull and I believe colder Essex by the sea.
A parcel that Ama..n said had been cancelled, they tried to deliver to the wrong address, has just been delivered. Good its here but it seems the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing !!!
DH has a telephone call with his Financial Adviser at 10 and I have washing to do and to make a cheese and onion pie for dinner.
Apart from that nothing else is on the agenda. All 6 of my cross Stitch are finished, just waiting to be framed. I'm very proud of them as I've never attempted anything like it before.

Good morning from a grey Essex. Getting chillier today.

I had a lovely morning yesterday. Walked dogs with my old friend and had a distanced coffee. I then popped to another old friend with her birthday present. Had a long chat to her on her drive. I then saw two of my Bridge club pals walking along so had a nice 10 minutes catch-up with them. I felt like a new woman. I returned home lighter and brighter. It really does make a difference to our mental health.

My DD phoned to say her Achilles’ tendon on both ankles were so painful. She doesn’t drive and walks everywhere. Our area is quite hilly, so I think it’s just strain. She has to walk to get to her various jobs. I have found an ankle bandage in my drawer and popped it round to her. I hope it helps.

Ashcombe And granmattie.i too hate Zoom. Both my book clubs do it but I decline the offer of joining in.

Had stew yesterday and will make pasties with the leftovers.

Dog walk and housework. Order on line presents for Christmas . I think I’m getting a bit carried away. It’s the boredom !

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s just gorgeous. ?

I slept like a log for 9 hours last night, not waking once. Unusual but blissful.

Thank you for the recommendation of that children’s Christmas book ‘The Empty Stocking’ (sorry I can’t recall which one of you?). I Googled it (love how to Google has become a verb!) and loved the sound of it so yesterday I contacted the owner of our Urmston independent bookshop and have ordered a copy & I will pick it up after I’ve quarantined.

I finished the non-fiction book ‘Banking On It’ it was highly readable and very interesting. I don’t think I’ll read today - give my eyes a rest ha!

We are meeting friends for lunch at 2pm - bars & restaurants still have to close at 6pm. But we have so many freedoms here. I shall miss Spain - the paseo, the orange trees, the cafe society which is possible because of the glorious weather. I’m sat here listening to the parakeets and the wood pigeons. It is very relaxing.
