Can anyone lend a hand, please??

You see, I've only got 2, and I need 3.

One to put over my mouth when I cough, one to hold my ribs, which hurt when I cough, and the extra one to hold the top of my head which feels as if it's going to fly off when I cough.

So, I think the easiest for an assistant to help with would be the head.

Shin pads might be advisable, because the speed and gay abandon with which I cross my legs when I cough could carry considerable risk of injury!

Best wishes phoenix flowers Hope you feel better soon.

cornergran Wed 02-Dec-20 16:46:07

Hope you’re much better soon phoenix, had hoped to see you were feeling even a tiny bit better today.

FannyCornforth Wed 02-Dec-20 16:43:17

Thinking of you phoenix thanks

Callistemon Wed 02-Dec-20 16:38:53

Let's hope this works, phoenix ?

Mr P will deal with the grocery delivery, I'm sure, and he will know where everything goes; if not it could be a treasure hunt for dinners.

???

Grannyactivist bet you both enjoyed that hug! tchsmile

Puzzler61, I really thought it was just my COPD playing up due to weather conditions etc, would seem that this damn infection has been in place since October!

Luckygirl Wed 02-Dec-20 16:11:50

merlot - I too was thinking about a fourth hand to hold the bladder. This growing older lark is not a walk in the park.

Poor phoenix - I hope they can get this chest infection under control without needing to go into hospital.

Puzzler61 Wed 02-Dec-20 16:04:03

Sending Get Well wishes to you phoenix , it’s just awful when you have a cough that rattles your bones and leaves you gasping for breath.
Hoping that what the GP sends you today will give some much needed swift relief ??

Callistemon

How are you feeling now, phoenix?
Are you starting to feel better or have you contacted the GP again?

Sorry to say, not really, Callistemon, yes have contacted GP again, they are sending out a different Aero Chamber, one with a mask.

Fortunately 2 members of their staff live in the village, so it will be dropped off.

Can't fault the service I've had from them.

Oh dear Phoenix - I do sympathise with you, having been through the exact same scenario myself just a few weeks ago. Fortunately I was eventually prescribed the right antibiotics and in combination with the steroids they did the job. I do hope you're soon feeling better and are able to keep out of hospital. flowers

The best bit about having such a rotten cough is that I had to have a Covid test before my G.P. would see me, so when it came back negative I immediately popped round to see my mother in law ('twas before this current lockdown and we have both been shielding) and I gave her a huge hug for the first time since February. grin

Callistemon Tue 01-Dec-20 21:30:54

I'll start designing.

Doodle Tue 01-Dec-20 21:21:03

Callistemon I was thinking more in terms of one of those puffa jackets. If MrP had bought the ones with wings then no sewing would be required as they could just be stuck together.
Perhaps there could be a new thread. What interesting things could you make with left over pads. I’ve got a load that I had before my hysterectomy in the back of a cupboard somewhere. ?

Callistemon Tue 01-Dec-20 21:15:17

You could sew any spare pads together and make yourself a liberty bodice to keep you nice and warm.

Doodle Tue 01-Dec-20 21:11:38

Interesting way of making money.?
I hope you sleep well tonight and feel better tomorrow.
Thanks for the laughs.
I wonder if your neighbours hide behind their curtains just waiting for MrP to pop down the shops and then they follow him to see just what you’ve got him buying this time.

phoenix Tue 01-Dec-20 21:06:37

Thank you all!

Doodle the sore ribs are at the side, so if I HAD had breast enhancement surgery there I would either be demanding my money back or applying to join a circus freak show!

cornergran Tue 01-Dec-20 20:22:07

Sorry, Phoenix*, I’ve giggled all through this thread once I understood it’s not a covid cough. With no helpful or funny suggestions to make I’ll just send a big get well soon and a hope for some sleep for you tonight.

Doodle Tue 01-Dec-20 20:18:38

Just don’t go outside with your padded attachments Phoenix or your neighbours will think your gone for breast enhancement surgery. ?

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Phoenix I am with Lucca on this ... you definitely need to be clasped to a manly chest.

You can give MrP the day off ... and then decide whose chest you would like to be clasped to ...

I nominate ... Rufus Sewell or Idris Elba. ?

I thought we all knew I have first dibs on Rufus Sewell!

He also managed to sneak home a small potted tree in a pot, wrapped in a Hessian sack tchconfused I think it's supposed to be a Christmas tree, but doesn't look like a variety I've ever seen.

That definitely wasn't on the list!

phoenix Tue 01-Dec-20 16:46:35

Thank you all! tchgrin

He seems to have erred on the side of caution with the pads, opting for absorbency level 4!

Seems a tad extreme to me, it's only a little leakage when I cough, I wasn't planning on touring the music halls as a living tribute to Niagara Falls.

Still, the thickness of them means they could be handy to tuck under the sides of my bra to help cushion my ribs!

Every cloud, and all that.............tchwink

Grandmafrench Tue 01-Dec-20 15:48:12

The kind of coughing that just makes your ribs ache and almost blows the top off your head each time is bloody terrible. That amount of discomfort does shout 'chest infection', Phoenix so I bet your GP is correct. You certainly don't lose your sense of humour and I am so happy to laugh - having checked first to see what you have done about your poorly situation. Had you done nuffink - there would have been a very snarky post here, guaranteed. Like you even care, though! grin
Please get well very soon and wishing hard that your DH arrives laden with Yuletide Leakstoppers, Festive Incontinence Pants and something soothing for that poor chest (Liberty bodice and a Celebratory jar of Christmas goose fat perhaps?)
Get well very soon and please take care. No hugs, just good wishes. (And Merlotgran for Poet Laureate!)

Nannytopsy Tue 01-Dec-20 15:46:34

Oh to be a shop assistant in Lidl Torrington! ?

grandtanteJE65 Tue 01-Dec-20 15:34:53

Try wrapping a folded bath towel round your poor ribs while you cough, unfortunately, it won't help all that much.

What on earth have you done to yourself?

Please, get better soon.

phoenix Tue 01-Dec-20 15:31:20

Well, he's set off, only going to Lidl in Torrington.

There are 5 items on the list, with notes for guidance where appropriate, such "without wings".

I'm not entirely convinced that he took his glasses though...........tchconfused
