Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark, but looks cold outside here in Brackley this morning.
This will be the first Saturday, for a long time where the stay safe and at home option will apply.
I maybe would have a Chinese Take Away, but will decline until the temperatures rise a little.
I think the Jet Stream is slightly to the west of the UK, allowing the cold air to come in from the east .
Take care,
Mick

Good morning Mick and everyone. It has been raining during the night here in Malta, but the forecast says it should clear up later.

Had a quiet day yesterday, finally tackled the ironing

. Had a FaceTime with DGD and DD1 as they drove through Wyoming. Their road trip from LA to DC is going well, DGD has seen snow for the first time and loves it. I will add a photo of her looking up at the presidents at Mt. Rushmore in S. Dakota.

No plans for today. Wishing you all the best day possible. Stay safe.☀️

grandMattie Sat 02-Jan-21 06:37:28

Good morning from a dark E Kent...
Hope you manage your Chinese tonight, Mick. Gorgeous photo, Bella. Malta is one of the places I’d like to visit, but am extremely unlikely to these days, especially with DH who will barely leave the house, leave fly.
DS2 is here but probs will leave today. Better than nothing, I suppose. It’s been wonderful to see him. The first person we have actually spoken to since October. The turkey and trimmings went down well. More left overs ?. I’ll definitely send him home with half, plus lots of other bits...
I’m going to have to do my Spanish homework, my classes resume on Thursday. I also need to make Iris a pair of grey school trousers.
Have a gentle day all those who are sad, in pain or unwell. Stay safe. X

Beechnut Sat 02-Jan-21 06:57:30

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It is not as frosty this morning and I can see stars.

What a lovely trip your GD is able to do Bella.

I have a birthday card to make for a very special little boy and a bit of admin. Bubble and squeak with cold chicken for my meal later.
It’s just so lovely to be able to have a conversation with someone isn’t it Mattie. Not as long as you but until my daughter came the other day I hadn’t chatted to anyone for 6 days.

Stay safe all ?

Good morning to those who’ve risen and those still a-zizzing!

Yes, Mick, the weather girl mentioned last night that we were suffering from winds from the North and East and would be for a few more days.

Mt Rushmore is certainly an impressive sight, Bellasnana. It sounds like your DGD and DD1 are having a wonderful trip! I lived in Michigan in the early seventies with my first DH and we went on a camping trip out West. In April. In snow at times! Crazy times of my youth!

grandMattie: it must be great having your DS2 around after so long! You have a busy time (as ever!) as life starts to settle into some kind of normal routine.

I really must go out today to stop the old joints from stiffening but it remains horribly cold. ?

Happy weekend, everyone and stay safe. ?

Scentia Sat 02-Jan-21 07:11:02

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is still dark and feels cold ?
Bella. I feel envious of your DD on her road trip!!
Today I will put all my new bird feeders out that I got for Christmas, I am determined to attract some birds to my garden!
My first sewing attempt wasn’t too bad and I have ordered some patterns to make some clothes. I need to get some broiderianglais (sp). That is spelt so wrongly ? for the collar and sleeves. I have made this for my impending new DGD due in May. I think it should be easier with a proper pattern to work from.
DH is nervous about what I am going to cut up next to make into something, he caught me looking at the curtains last night and reminded me I am not ‘Frauline Maria’??
Remember to look for your smiles and share them with a stranger today, stay safe and look after yourselves❤️

Nannytopsy Sat 02-Jan-21 07:14:11

Good morning Mick and all his followers. It’s still dark here but the forecast is for another dull, cold day.
Today’s task is to defrost our fridge freezer. It is frost free but the ice maker is frozen solid ?
I hope the day is kind to everyone. Stay safe!

GrannyGravy13 Sat 02-Jan-21 07:22:30

Good morning Mick and all

Mick we are having a Chinese takeaway for dinner tomorrow.

Still dark here in S E Essex, feels very chilly.

I shall attempt the ironing mountain sometime today???? Beautiful photo Bellasnana

Sending (((hugs))) to all in need thanks

Keep safe, well and warm folks ?‍♀️

Good morning from a clear cold south Cornwall. Donned my Dry Robe last night, took cushions, a throw, a mug of cocoa and sat out on my swing seat under Orion and a chilly moon, listening to an audio book called Mudlark. It was glorious. I so miss adventuring. Came in at 1 o'clock.

Received a video yesterday of my grandchildren building a snowman not 10 miles from here. Still no snow on my patch though!

Today, dust the crutches off and to the Pier and maybe my little town beach for some beachcombing, if my hips will allow! Have a good day everyone. (Lovely little dress Scentia.)

Good morning from north Surrey, the lighter mornings can’t come soon enough for me
Sister 1 and H had tests yesterday and sister 2 and H full of cold so I shopped and delivered to mum and dad yesterday. I spoke to their neighbour to ask him to keep his distance since coming out of hospital. It is so difficult, he is elderly and frail too but he can’t rely on my parents to support him.
We will have a walk with boys and dog this morning and watch the second Star Wars film with them, I have promised to watch all 9 in order, they are both obsessed with anything related.
Roast dinner promised for DD after her sleep. She is vegetarian but loves a roast dinner (without the meat)
Most of my decorations are now down, except the tree and outside lights, need to get all the boxes out of the loft as they are cluttering up the spare bedroom
Feeling flat but think it is just the January blues with CV tagged on, need to give myself a shake and be thankful for what I have
Wishing all a good Saturday

Pittcity Sat 02-Jan-21 07:34:11

Good morning from a dark, breezy Colchester. No frost on the cars.
Awake earlier this morning.
A trip to Lidl to stock up then home to hunker down.
We get our takeaways delivered and have far more than pre Covid as we are not eating out.

NanKate Sat 02-Jan-21 07:41:43

Morning Mick and All.

Cloudy, very cold, but no snow inSouth Bucks.

How wonderful GrandMattie having your boy staying. I want to hug my DS and 2 GDSs but haven’t been allowed to see them since the beginning of October due to Covid. They FaceTime us a lot which is some compensation.

Lovely photo Bellasnana. Glad you can virtually chat with us Beechnut. How wonderful Viridian venturing outside at night I go outside early morning and do some Qigong (like Tai Chi) exercises. DH thinks I’m mad but it is lovely breathing in the cold fresh air.

Must prepare my small talk for WI Zoom on Tuesday.

Have the best day you can folks.

Sparklefizz Sat 02-Jan-21 07:42:50

Good morning Mick and all GNs from a less cold South Glos. Been awake since 3.30am so I suspect I will be having a siesta later. Z z z z

But this morning I am having a telephone book discussion with a friend from the Book Group (others seem to have temporarily dropped out, so it's just we two!) I didn't much enjoy the book so it might be more of a chat, less of a critique smile Am listening to Sounds of the Sixties on Radio 2 at the moment.

Love the photos Bella and Scentia (that looks pretty good for a first sewing attempt!)

brook2704 Sat 02-Jan-21 07:43:23

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve had another snow flurry overnight so everything looks completely white again. We enjoyed another long walk yesterday exploring new places which are quite close to home but we’d not seen before.Today I need to pop to the shops for some veg, milk and bread etc and then maybe a walk by the river in town.
What a magical way to spend an evening viridian well wrapped up of course? and well done with the sewing scentia - much better than I’d be able to do!
What a lovely road trip bellasnana, happy memories made
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, take care all whatever the day brings ?

Alygran Sat 02-Jan-21 07:51:55

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It looks cold outside and there is snow in the forecast for this morning. I have arranged a walk with a friend. We will need to wrap up!
Took the decorations down yesterday and they are all packed away waiting for my next visitor to help put them in the loft. It may be some time. I bought Christmas tree bags this year as I struggle to get the trees back into the boxes on my own. I’m really pleased with them, it made the job much easier.
Hope everyone has a good day. Stay safe.

Grandmabatty Sat 02-Jan-21 07:54:57

Good morning All. It's blooming freezing in Polmont! - 5° at the moment. I'm taking ds home this morning if I can get into the car. Then a quiet day, taking down the tree and putting away the decorations. Have a good day all.

cornergran Sat 02-Jan-21 07:55:27

Morning Mick, morning All. Another cold, frosty beginning to our corner of Somerset. Too dark to see much out there. Christmas decorations all packed away and waiting to return to the loft for another year. We have kept some white lights for the conservatory which have been declared Winter lights. The loft is my domain so I’ll be up there this morning before making some soup for lunch. We had planned a walk with some of ours later, I see our once sunny forecast now shows rain, may be better postponed. That’s a wonderful trip bellasnana, your granddaughter will have so many memories to share. Take care everyone, hope there’s something to bring a smile to us all today.

Sar53 Sat 02-Jan-21 08:00:44

Good morning from a damp Essex by the sea. No frost but feels cold again.
I must change the bed once DH gets out of it and put the bedding on to wash. We may go out for some fresh air or there again we may not.
I'm going to make a start on taking the tree and cards down and give the lounge a good dust and vacuum.
Have a good Saturday and stay safe everyone xx

aggie Sat 02-Jan-21 08:06:45

Good morning all, it’s dark and cold , but what else can we expect ?
I am taking down lights as the batteries fail , the plug-in ones can stay till the sixth
Might put the cards in the recycling , they are so pretty it seems a shame
The Crib stays till the Wise men on the sixth , but I see they have sneaked in early !

Gagagran Sat 02-Jan-21 08:07:15

Morning all from a still chilly south coast . It's not quite as cold. It was 4.7c at 6.30am so the cars and roofs are not frosted.

DH is going for a bike ride with his friend this morning. I prefer him to go with someone, given the medical apparatus he is lumbered with, in case of any problems with them. It is good for him to get fresh air and exercise and to see someone other than me! His surgeon told him he would get him back on his bike and he did that - brilliant man and we are forever in his debt.

Yesterday I sorted out a drawer full of framed photographs of the DGC at various ages and found a beautiful one of our eldest DGD, now 19 and a first year undergraduate, aged about 3. It has now joined my display on the blanket box in my bedroom. (DH calls it the rogues gallery). It gives me pleasure every time I see their dearest faces!

Anyone else noticed the daylight creeping back slowly? I didn't close our curtains until 4.30pm yesterday. Spring is not that far away now folks! sunshine

dragonfly46 Sat 02-Jan-21 08:09:56

Good morning everyone from chilly Leicestershire.

Matt Hancock has informed me I have to stay at home until February despite what others are doing!

What a lovely adventure your DGD is having Bellasnana. We drove from Minneapolis to the north shore of Lake Superior when DH retired.

Have the best day possible. I will try to smile Scentia but there is no one to see it!

harrigran Sat 02-Jan-21 08:23:31

Good morning from the NE where we have snow again.
I woke at 7.50 and told DH and he said it wasn't there at 6am so must have been a heavy shower.
We had a day of very little food yesterday, scrambled egg for lunch and a bowl of soup for supper but my stomach was thanking me after the pain and sickness of the previous night.
I thought family were going to Skype but I think they must have forgotten.
Watched another three episodes of Virgin river while DH rested in bed, finding this a great alternative to the repeats and supposed comedy on BBC.

Susan56 Sat 02-Jan-21 08:25:08

Good morning from the Shropshire/Powys border. We have a really thick frost and it is so cold.?

Scentia, the little dress is very impressive for a first attempt.I haven’t done any sewing for a long time but have bought a new sewing machine and have signed up for some beginners classes to get me going again.

Felt quite gloomy yesterday, not feeling a whole lot better today but will try and channel my inner Pollyanna.

Hope that Mary and Cherry have both had a restful night.

Thinking of all with illness and worries and those who are having a wobble.

ginny Sat 02-Jan-21 08:28:02

Good Morning all. Another cold dull start here in N. Bucks.
Our driveway chat with friends was cancelled yesterday due to rain. Hope we can do it today.

Small local food shop and a short walk this morning .
Otherwise knitting, reading etc.

Hope you all find a ? today.

kittylester Sat 02-Jan-21 08:28:47

Morning all. dragonfly is quite right, North Leicestershire is flipping chilly!

Not a lot on, again, in the Lester household. I need to do a list of cards to buy from the lovely lady in the village who sends photos for me to choose and then she delivers!

Have the best day possible all.
