I always change our king size bedding once a week, and think there’s nothing nicer than climbing into freshly laundered sheets, I always make sure I get in first ?

grandMattie, yes, I remember the top sheet becoming the bottom sheet. Our pyjamas/nighties were folded and kept under our pillows - then only changed weekly.

I change our bed when I have the energy - probably every 10 days BUT one thing I am strict about is not making it straight away every morning. The duvet is pulled back, bottom sheet flattened out and pillows plumped and then it is left to 'air' Then it gets 'made' during the day or when I go to bed. We loose moisture during the night and making it straight away means it is trapped in the bedding. Ugh!

Most people who come to stay can’t understand why I put a top sheet under the duvet - I find it more comfortable and it also means I only wash the duvet cover every 2nd wash - am I unusual?

If the thread doesn’t interest you , why read it and then bother to comment. ?

I do this too. And open the window. But I change the pillow cases every few days.

It’s a free country

I change the bed once a week unless we've been ill or it's been very hot then I tend to do it more often.

When I win the lottery I will pay a lady to change the bedding every day. That will be my treat to myself. I love clean, fresh bedding but I hate the actual task.

I do the same (a top sheet under the duvet) Liljan . . DH insists on it! He thinks I hog the duvet (don’t think I do!) and he finds it more comfortable. I change the sheets once a fortnight, but the pillowcases once a week and I find this is enough. I change the quilt cover about once every 6 weeks as the sheet underneath is washed every 2 weeks. I always used to change sheets every week, but find it’s not necessary. We both shower every day so are very clean. Always let the bed “air” for several hours before making it.

BlueBelle I can also remember having this question many many times over the years,we have new members all the time and they possibly have not seen this posted before.
I cahnge my bedding once a week in Winter and twice a week in Summer if anyone newly joined is interested smile

Mollygo Thu 25-Feb-21 09:36:50

Sheets once a week - pillow cases more often, especially since we’ve had teddy fleece bedding in winter. If I’m putting a wash on I’ll bung them in.
Duvet cover once a fortnight, more often in summer.
It’s an odd question, like asking how often you change your underwear.
When I was young, there always seemed to be sheets on the line, but I couldn’t tell you who’s they were. I think mum must have washed them on a rota.

All of it once a week but often change top pillowcases and sheets in between times, sweaty menopausal woman that I am ?

billericaylady Thu 25-Feb-21 10:39:37

Once a week but I change pillow cases twice a week generally smile

Wow there’s some right miseries on this thread! If you don’t want to answer then pass on by jeez!

rafichagran Thu 25-Feb-21 10:41:25

Once a week as well.

SueLindsey Thu 25-Feb-21 10:43:36

Fitted sheet and pillow slips once a fortnight and duvet cover every three weeks. I live in a flat and its a big hassle to dry them. I have a bath before bed so dont think they get too mucky!

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 25-Feb-21 10:44:09

Fortnightly for me, DH and I have separate beds , both done on alternate weeks.

henetha Thu 25-Feb-21 10:44:51

I do that top sheet under the duvet too, it makes perfect sense.
I change my pillowcase every 2 days as I have some weird
rash-under-the-skin thing on my face and it's worse if the pillowcase is sweaty or dirty.
The sheets get changed every week, my back allowing. Sometimes it's more like ten days.

Hetty58 Thu 25-Feb-21 10:45:55

vampirequeen, same here - if I could just get somebody else to do it - I'd have clean sheets every day!

DillytheGardener Thu 25-Feb-21 10:50:40

Every Saturday morning I wash sheets, pillowcases and duvet cover. In summer I always dump the pillows and duvet on the washing line in the sun to air them and kill the dust mites, and in winter do it on any non rainy dry day I can every couple of weeks.

Since my silky- coated lurcher died and I got a harsh- coated terrier I have hardly needed to change the bed clothes .

I believe silky-coated dogs have more grease in their coats. I have hosted a Yorkshire terrier and she was the smelliest dog I ever met.

Theoddbird Thu 25-Feb-21 10:59:37

Bluebell....my thoughts exactly smile

Moggycuddler Thu 25-Feb-21 11:02:06

Once a week. Must admit to occasionally stretching it to two weeks if my back is very bad or I'm really busy. But then I change the pillow slip at least.

Ksb65 Thu 25-Feb-21 11:02:59

Once a week in winter and twice a week in summer ?

timetogo2016 Thu 25-Feb-21 11:05:29

Every monday.

As and when I'm in the mood or see the need. I had my flash bulb moment a few years ago when I was about to do my weekly strip and fond myself observing/thinking 'gosh, it looks as though it's never been slept on'. Considering I have a shower and change my clothes daily, I had an immediate rethink on this. Also I do the daily window opening regime and have the duvet folded back all day. Undoubtedly I'll have raised some shock horror thoughts here. Well...... so be it. It's working wonderfully for me.
