Has died. How sad. How young. RIP.

Yes, I feel very sad at Helen McCrorys death. I only knew her from Peaky Blinders, but she was only 52 bless her. Was she poorly whilst filming Peaky Blinders? I wonder how long she'd suffered from Cancer, and even if she was aware she had it. Poor lady, whatever the reason, its still very sad. She was a very good actress.

I haven’t seen any of her work, but that is so sad. Far too young ?

Saw a National Theatre production of Medea with her in the title role which was beamed across to our local cinema pre Covid. Powerful stuff.

You did a great job, Helen. Thank you.

Very sad news. So very hard for her husband and children and her family and friends.

I feel for her children. My mum died when I was younger than these two children, my mum was in her 40s, the pain of losing her has followed me all my life. I wish I could send those two children a big hug.

Very sad, no one knew she had cancer, such a dreadful disease. A great loss, a great actress.

Not sure why you can’t comment, as you have obviously joined GN as you are able to post.
Can you not go onto the comment/ message box at the bottom?
I would e Mail HQ if still a problem.

Very sad - her children only just teenagers so will be very hard for them although I'm sure their Dad will be a huge support, even though grieving himself. My Mum was only 51 when she died of bowel cancer in 1974 I was only 20 and had just had my first child. I coped by pushing my grief to the back of my mind and not facing up to it, but a lifetime of depression was the inevitable result.

Damien Lewis has written a wonderful piece in the Times. She told her children 'not to be sad as she was going to snuff it because she had had the life she wanted and to make sure Daddy has lots of girlfriends'!

I have just listened to Helen on Desert Island Discs and she mentioned that she had sore throat. She had a great sense of humour and spoke so fondly of her family. RIP Helen McCrory.

No matter how much of an extended family her boys have, their mum’s death will be a defining event in their lives. My heart goes out to them.I wonder if it’s possible for her to be given a posthumous dame hood? She must have done that interview on GMB knowing her passing would give the Princes trust lots of publicity., so even when she was so ill she was thinking if others.
