If it is a lovely sunny day, hot or cold, I just want to get outside and enjoy it but if it is dull I kind of feel a bit dull myself and have a tendency to hibernate. I think there is a thing called Seasonal Affective Disorder, maybe I have it.

My old GP always said that on a sunny day his waiting room was empty and on a grey dull or wet day it was full. That says it all really.

I'm affected by the weather, during winter months, dark nights and gloomy weather, my depression is so much worse, than in the summer IF its sunny and bright. In gloomy dull weather I feel worthless, useless and feel like there's so much to feel really sad and desperate about.

Yes, I definitely feel happier with clear blue skies overhead, and love to feel the warmth of the sun on my skin. If it is grey and overcast I feel almost claustrophobic, hate the solid cloud layer. I think I must have some dormouse in me somewhere, I really just need to hibernate for the winter!

Weather has a profound effect on me, hate the dark cold winter time, and being an OA sufferer it can make me feel full of pain. Equally can't stand the exhausting intense summer heatwaves o recent summers

Spring and summer certainly affect my mood for the better. Lighter nights and mornings, blue skies and sunshine makes me feel so much better physically and mentally. I hate winter the dread of it approaching gets worse each year.
The grey skies and endless rain makes me a right miserable b*tch. I am sure I suffer with SAD.

Sun with cloud 20 degrees no hotter, perfect.Do not like heat and to much sun.

Dianehillbilly1957 Wed 21-Apr-21 20:56:10

Lots more energy when the sun is shining, I just want to be out and about keeping busy, dull days makes me feel lethargic.

I much prefer spring to the dark days of winter (maybe something to do with being a spring baby?)

Although I am always pleased to see winter sun, I hate driving in low sun and prefer dull days.

Now its spring, I am much happier driving on sunny days.

I hate being cold, due to bad circulation.
My feet, hands and even my nose is quite often cold in the height of summer.

I think I must have been a lizard in a previous life, I gravitate towards anything that is warm and sunny.
Sun on my back is sheer bliss.

Warm and sunny for me. I like hot weather but not too hot.

It’s lovely not to be bundled up with layers of clothing,

The sun on my face, gorgeous,

In common with other posters, grey days make me miserable. Blue skies and sunshine are fine, and I don't mind bright winter days. It's just the grey days that get to me!

I like all kinds of weather, but I am happiest when it is raining, I just love the rain and the sound it makes on our tin roof. (i am from Australia and some of us have tin roofs)
I love storms as well, thunder and lightning, I love the smell of storms. Storms at night are especially good as I always sleep better then.

Dull days definitely make me lethargic unmotivated and miserable. As soon as I see sun, even on a cold day I feel much better

Like spring and autumn best I can feel low on dark drizzly days ?

Purplepixie Wed 21-Apr-21 14:25:15

I do suffer from SAD. I dread the dark nights coming along and it's got worse with my age.

Craftycat Wed 21-Apr-21 13:45:41

Absolutely- I have always been a sun worshipper & I love really hot summer days.
I do like snow too but rainy or dull days leave me feeling very low.

polly123 Wed 21-Apr-21 13:38:25

Adore spring weather when it is cool and bright, so invigorating and beautiful. Loathe summer weather with hot, humid and relentless sun and heat. Hate summer clothes which seem so boring compared to other seasons. Love autumn crispness and the smell and sensation of falling leaves. Adore magical snowy days. I suppose it does affect my mood.

grandtanteJE65 Wed 21-Apr-21 13:34:55

I greatly prefer warm, sunny weather to most other kinds of weather.

However, I grew up in the west of Scotland where warm sunny weather is rare. I learned as a child that allowing the weather to affect you was silly, as we cannot control it.

I realise there are various disorders that cannot just be "controlled", but I am thankful to the adults who taught us not to complain about the weather, but to dress to suit it.

And now, I shall duck behind some large piece of furniture.

Migraine in stormy thundery weather!!

IzzysGran Wed 21-Apr-21 12:34:41

Yes definitely
I hate windy days...makes me feel quite anxious
Warmer weather slows me down ..
Dark cold days are me a bit sad..
A cold bright day is the best..makes me very busy.. I get lots down ??

Severnsider Wed 21-Apr-21 12:22:10

I'm much happier in hot sunny weather. While sitting in the sun all my winter aches and pains seem to disappear.

I'm quite miserable during the cold, short, black winter days. I'd hibernate if I could. ?

fluttERBY123 Wed 21-Apr-21 12:15:14

Feel.very sluggish in hot damp weather usually in July, what my Gran called the dog days. Something to do with the stars, canis or something, I believe. Wondering if this rings bells with anyone else.

Bazza Wed 21-Apr-21 11:54:19

I absolutely agree with you, Gingster. It’s the still days with low cloud that almost seems to be sitting on your head that bring me down. That and excessive heat. About 24 degrees is as hot as I want it to be.

BlueSky Wed 21-Apr-21 11:49:18

A bright sunny warm morning does help my mood, when I was younger I used to love hot weather and could cope better than most but not nowadays. Another thing to do with age? I don’t particularly like the cold either, and dark so early, rain and grey skies do make depressed. So yes I am affected by the weather.

Aepgirl Wed 21-Apr-21 11:40:40

The weather certainly affects my mood. I particularly detest grey skies and drizzly rain. Give me a warm, sunny spring day any time.

polnan Wed 21-Apr-21 11:32:42

Definitely affected by the weather, well the clouds... if dull, dull, and grey and overcast.. such a down mood... not keen, ie. I don`t like the heat, hot hot sun... and the brilliant sun gives me migraines..

this weather, despite the bright sun, (wearing sunglasses) find the air , chill, so despite the heat of the sun, the cool air is better for me.
