Good Morning Everyone,
Its a dry start here in Brackley with some cloud , otherwise sunny.
Today , maybe a small shop, also will be apart from lunch , will be watching cycling on TV this afternoon .
Yesterdays trip out was OK , maybe the last day of having to sit outside to have a coffee , looking forward to being able to drink and eat indoors .
Take Care,
Mick

A good, if not late, good morning to you all from sunny Gower.

Marydoll it sounds, from your description yesterday, that you had a lovely birthday and it sounds, from your description today that you'll have a lovely day today ?.
In fact, it sounds like more goodmorningers are having are having better days, meeting up with family and taking short breaks, wonderful ?

Sorry to hear that you ended up in A&E Auntieflo but better safe than sorry to have things checked out. I'm heartened to here that suspicions were unfounded ?

Thank you for informing us that Susan is taking a short break Grandmafrench. It understandable, with her DD being unwell, looking after the little ones and her MiL facing her operation in the coming week. Take care of yourself Susan, I'm really hoping your DD has her appointment and treatment asap ?

Ouch Grandmafrench! Falls are horrible. You know it is happening except not in my case but can do nothing about it and bracing yourself is virtually futile. Sorry to hear that you are so bruised, and clearly shaken too, but I'm pleased that no bones are broken. I hope you recover quickly flowers

I had my chillaxed day yesterday and plan ? another one today ?. I just wish my footie team had won, instead they drew and missed a fabulous opportunity ?.
I'm hoping that our kitchen will be finished this week, it's taking its time --and toll-. It'll be fabulous when it's done though ?

Thanks to everyone who continue to send me their well wishes, you are truly lovely people ?
Take care everyone and have a lovely Sunday ❤️

?, It's afternoon now ?

Grandmajean Sun 16-May-21 12:01:25

Have just seen Grandmafrench's post. That sounds really painful. Hope you recover soon !

Good morning from a sunny and warm East Midlands. Not much planned for today. Stay safe and sane.

EllanVannin Sun 16-May-21 11:37:56

Good Morning All x.
I'm all behind like the cow's tail this morning. This is what becomes of pottering etc. when the sun's out, it seems to alter my way of doing things.
Still, it's nice to see the sun and feel the warmth that goes with it, whether it'll last is anyone's guess.

Some lovely pics this morning, and I remember Plockton---another world. It seemed strange to see palm trees plus the mildness that went with it. A beautiful little place and an ideal stop-off on journey's around there.

The journey from the top of our island to the bottom really is amazing in places, there's no other country like it for scenery. I have wonderful memories---and photo's too, in their hundreds grin.

The Ceanothus is all but in flower and is an absolute picture when in bloom, a lovely blue/purple covering. Next month the Bottlebrush. They've flourished despite all the frosts and winds off the sea.

Plenty of talk of beautiful food this morning, dinners and left-overs from Marydoll's Birthday and last but not least, Crumpets ! Best news about Warburton's Urmston---I'll never run out of them now grin It's the butter I use as well ! I have to get the 750g size tub as a 250g is no good to me.

Lamb chops,Jersey pots and cauli and white sauce today, so that calls for more lashings of butter on the potatoes, I just love it. Oh to have such a good appetite as I'll polish off the other half bag of pots. Good job I bought two bags grin.

My thoughts to those who aren't so grand or who have worries and hope that things improve.
Have a good day everyone and take care whatever you do.xx

GrannyGravy13 Sun 16-May-21 11:29:14

Take care Susan56 hopefully you will rejoin us when you feel ready ?

gillgran Sun 16-May-21 10:48:40

Good Morning to you all from a bright, dry Cambs., forecast for more rain this afternoon, & unsettled for the week ahead.

Great to see folk getting some trips away, including Brook & Cornergran. Thanks for all the photos, I love to see them.
We put off going to NW Norfolk to our little home-from-home, in part due to the weather, but mainly that our health has not been the best. Hopefully nothing serious, I've had UTI, followed by dizzy spells.
My DH has had a painful knee for 6 weeks, he's waiting for an x-ray, also physio. DH hasn't been able to play golf, (so no empty for me,sad), & DH's mood has been low..!!
It is sure to improve for us soon.

Grandmafrench, that sounds like a nasty trip, I hope you soon feel better, take care.
I also hope that Susan is OK, I send warm wishes.

Best Wishes to you all, especially those with added worries, flowers

Ashcombe Sun 16-May-21 10:31:41

I wonder if Lidl tell all their unhappy customers the same thing Ashcombe I would be sceptical. I assume you can tell the difference between a cherry stone and a piece of plastic?

Grammaretto: Precisely! No doubt somebody at Head Office said, “Send her a voucher - that will stop her taking it further!”

Jaxjacky Sun 16-May-21 10:29:30

I hope Susan is ok.
Gagagran share your sentiments on the weather, I know we needed rain, but....
And muse I have raised bed envy, rain has stopped ‘play’ on my allotment.

Grandmafrench Sun 16-May-21 10:13:13

Good morning everyone. Sun is shining after a night of rain which made me glad I hid my latest little seedlings under shelter. Great big rain sploshes are not much encouragement.

A better day planned for me, I hope. Yesterday I spent mostly sitting fairly still, having had a nightmare evening the day before. Finished an early supper and went outside to move my wonderful (and demanding) hibiscus in case of rain. I was shocked to see the beautiful face of a local Siamese cat on our roof. At one stage she disappeared into the top of the chimney before walking directly above where our little Redstart nestlings are. The parent birds have been in attendance less and less and I can now see why! I connected the hosepipe and sprayed sufficiently to deter the cat. It was almost dark. I went indoors, picked up a tray of crocks and a glass tumbler, was sufficiently discomknockerated by the garden incident that I caught my toe on a step. My specs - and probably the ill will emanating from that Siamese didn’t help.

My whole life - or rather the outcome of a sprawling fall onto tiled floors - flashed before me. I fell hard onto both knees, then my hands, gripping the tray. Glass and crockery exploded around me so that I couldn’t move for fear of being cut. Yesterday, I couldn’t bend my legs, today is better. I do have bruising to the base of both thumbs - from the tray I assume - and currently misshapen knees, on which Arnica has worked wonders. I suppose I was very fortunate not to involve fractures, cuts, etc.

So......a slightly fragile soul in the South wishes you all a good day. Worse things happen at sea - and everywhere else - so wearing big girl pants I shall just quietly potter today and take care. Sadly I don’t need to be bird Mummy any more since although the cat was defeated, the parents never returned and the babies have perished. ?

Enjoy your outings and gatherings and trips away. How fabulous that those things are happening again and there’s hope for all. Here’s wishing you fun and sunny days as some normal life returns. Love the photographs and forgot to say, another triumph for doggie ? convalescent care, dragonfly, you should be very proud!

Take care, dear peeps.
Hugs from France ??
?‍♀️?????

Gagagran Sun 16-May-21 10:08:44

Morning all - late to the party this morning as we had a problem with our connection. Might have something to do with the torrential rain showers we have had from getting up to now with hardly a break. It's still a very dark and cloudy sky so I think we will have more to come. This is not normal south coast weather!.

Had a busy day yesterday with the click and collect visit to Tesco, three large loads of laundry (thanks to DH's renewed cycling activities) and then the arrival of a wet, muddy and hungry DS!

He had done the third quarter of his planned training rides of the South Downs Way ready for the big event on 25/26 June. He rode from Amberley to Plumpton and back. It was windy and showery so not pleasant conditions. He ate a huge cheese and ham sandwich, a piece of lemon drizzle cake and a kit-kat before, later on, fish, chips and peas, lemon tart and raspberries and clotted cream, for tea. As he had expended 3000 calories+ on the ride, I don't think the intake will have affected his weight one bit!.

DD and DGD turned up to see him and have a cup of tea and catch up so I had both my chicks and one chicklet here and that always makes me happy.

DD has another job application ongoing for another permanent University job, doing similar research to her present role. DGD was full of the house rental she has obtained ready for her second year at university, sharing with her boyfriend and 4 of their chums. It looks lovely and actually works out cheaper than the single room she has presently in halls.

Should be a quieter day today and we are having duck confit and new potatoes for lunch. DH's favourite.

Hope the day is a good one for us all. Enjoy the sunshine those who are fortunate enough to have it! sunshine

EkwaNimitee Sun 16-May-21 09:53:25

Good morning, Mick and All from a cloudy but bright Carlisle where we are promised a showery day.
I'm going to have a day of doing things I like. No admin! But I did feel the need to log into my bank account which, like a lot of folk, I couldn't access yesterday. Just checking my cash was still there!
I can't develop my garden yet. I'm too late in the year to buy bare root trees and it's too early to order any for the autumn. Nursery websites look rather barren at the moment.
The mention of Plockton brought back happy memories, Urmston. It's a really delightful little place. I seem to remember it can't be got to in a straight line...
What a lovely little calf, Sheep, hope he does well.
And a happy peaceful Sunday to all, I'm off to do not much.

muse Sun 16-May-21 09:52:46

The coast is doing better than inland Ellianne. Hope it lasts.
I got caught in a torrent two hours ago. Hoping to get to Wadebridge showground this afternoon.

monk08 Sun 16-May-21 09:51:07

With you on that Marydoll would leave the pie and eat the puds especially the tarte au citron.

Nannagarra Sun 16-May-21 09:48:16

I hope Susan56’s daughter feels better soon.

muse Sun 16-May-21 09:46:59

Good morning all.
S&C I love Dobby. Perfection in every sense.
Don't think there will be any rainbows today Ash. Very dark grey sky and rain. Got wet through with dog walk and she didn't do a poop. So off again after breakfast.
ash £10 excellent.
Well done Warburtons. They make excellent crumpets. Had 2 yesterday and there were 9 more in the delivery last night. We love them with a mix of cheddar and blue stilton on.

Five days of hard labour from Mark, gardener, and raised beds are all in place with the necessary paving around them. Fruit cage is still to be sorted. That's in 3 weeks. You have before and after shots. Before are a result of not being able to garden for a full year! Covers are on to keep the fresh compost working till plants ready to go in.

Disappointing news from son. He heard nothing about the interview so he's still out of work. His birthday today so will be trying to raise his spirits when he rings.

Wishing everyone light hearts and happy minds. I see the sun is struggling to come through here in Cornwall smile

Blossoming Sun 16-May-21 09:44:01

Good morning from currently sunny Lancashire. A day of sunshine and showers forecast. Happy Sunday ?

Grandmafrench Sun 16-May-21 09:41:39

Passing on a message for our morning club from Susan : she’s taking a short break from posting and hopes to be back with us soon.

Grandmajean Sun 16-May-21 09:27:00

Good morning. Sunny here in Cheshire but looks a bit "watery" and forecast not great. Lazy start so will come back later to read everyone's news.

hulahoop Sun 16-May-21 09:26:39

It's a very bright morning here in West Yorkshire so washer on .Dd had her first jab yesterday fingers crossed with no side effects .Hope everyone has a good day take care .

Nannytopsy Sun 16-May-21 09:24:20

Good morning Mick and all his followers. That’s a bit of a worry to hear there is evidence of the Indian variant near you Mick - do take care.
The sun is out in Suffolk after yesterday’s rain but I have housework to do. We have a friend coming to stay from Tuesday so need to make a bed, clean the house and bake.
Good day for our old home town yesterday! First the rugby team won and then the Foxes won the FA cup. Such a happy and emotional atmosphere afterwards - I admit I needed tissues. A tribute to the last owner who was killed so tragically.

Lovely photos from the holiday makers. Enjoy your time away! I keep making noises about the West coast of Scotland but husband goes even more deaf than usual!
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Grandmabatty Sun 16-May-21 09:19:37

Good morning all from Polmont. Clouds and blue skies this morning so it could go either way. Yesterday ended up a beautiful afternoon and evening for the family bbq. Despite sitting under a gazebo, my neck is sunburnt. We had a lovely time. I picked up dd and brought him over with bags of food and other goodies for my aunt and uncle. Dd and dgs were there with my mum and brother. My son in law came from work and my son's fairly new partner arrived much later as she had been out in Edinburgh. I decided to have some wine so I'll get a lift today to pick up my car. We all had a great time in their garden and it was so nice to socialise again.
I'm quite tired this morning as I went to bed late and didn't sleep well so I'll potter about. I hope you all have a good day

Nannagarra Sun 16-May-21 09:06:21

Good morning from the Sefton coast where it is sunny but raining.
Thanks for the lovely photos brook2704 and Ellianne. Ashcombe’s £10 from Lidl reminds me of discovering a piece of pallet in a Tesco’s tin of mixed beans some years ago.
A family walk is planned at midday so I’m hoping the sun triumphs.
May you find a flamingo and reason to smile to brighten your Sunday.

B9exchange Sun 16-May-21 09:03:15

Morning everyone from a cloudy but bright SW Herts, hope those having or planning birthdays enjoy them, and those who have had them are recovering!

Glad you got your cuddle Scentia, you must be longing for the next one.

I am quite sure you can tell the difference between plastic and a piece of cherry stone Ash, suspect a bit of back covering going on, unless of course it was a plastic coated piece of cherry stone!?

We finally managed to get the pelmet rail back up and secured, well I say 'we' but DH climbed onto the window sill and announced it was hurting his hip, so I had to wrestle with it alone. Urms, have you been giving him secret lessons #lazyclub?

Tomorrow the freezer repair man should be coming, yay, I can stock up at last. Look forward to hearing what you are all going to do with your freedom tomorrow, I will have to wait in.... Grrrrr ?

Urmstongran Sun 16-May-21 08:55:30

From the Business section in the Sunday Telegraph today:

“WARBURTONS, Britain’s biggest baker, is spending more than £50m on new plants and depots as shoppers swap sliced bread for crumpets and bagels.”

Seems your crumpets are in safe hands EV!

brook2704 Sun 16-May-21 08:53:44

Especially for you marydoll we’re the blue dot on the map!
