Reading through so many threads, I see fine knitters, seamstresses, artists, potters, crafters, cake decorators... Then I thought- 'how would I answer this?'. Sadly decided I was a Jack Of All Trades bur passable in only a few.
Do you have a special talent? Forget the modesty and share!
I’m another Jack of all trades. I can bake, draw and paint, knit a bit, sew a little, make cards and other various crafty things but I’m not brilliant at any of them.
Apparently I’m an expert tidy upper. My DoL told my son I’m like Mary Poppins - spit spot and their house is mess free.
I think I must be a good listener because everyone I meet (even people I don’t know) offload all their problems on me - even people I don’t know. I feel like an unpaid counsellor.
When I was was at primary school many years ago our headmaster said that every person has a special talent. I remember him saying that we often think of a talent as being someone who excels in sport or who has a beautiful voice etc. However, he went on to say that being kind to people and animals, helping someone who is upset in the playground is also a special talent. I have never forgotten his words and it really made me feel good about myself. I think other children in the school felt the same.
Same as Oopsadaisy1,I can spot a bulls...er in seconds And i am pretty good at telling people who put others down to be honest and tell them instead of telling me. My grandfather`s words were,"if you can`t say anything nice, say nothing at all".
I am a good cake maker & decorator. I did it for a living when my children went to school & taught it at Adult Education (remember those classes- you could learn practically anything!) I did mainly wedding cakes but novelty children's cakes were a very good money maker too. I remember my sons 5th birthday when he had asked for a dinosaur cake. I made 5 dinosaurs models using pictures from his books. It took hours!! I was really pleased with it. He came downstairs on the morning of his birthday & said - 'Oh Mummy can't they be fighting?' He very nearly didn't make 6!!
I have quite a lot of interests outside of the home but a friend remarked to me the other day that I don't have any 'home hobbies', she was right, I don't!
I used to be able to make almost anything and did costumes and props, before my stroke robbed me of the use of one hand - now I write, to create. I cook wonderful deserts, but leave the mundane dinners to my other half, now.
I have a number of talents but my greatest talent of all, and indeed its more than just a talent, if I t were classified as a sport I would win gold medals in. My talent is ........(drum roll), falling flat on my face or back!
I wish I wasn't so lucky to have this talent, or that I could somehow be the jam in a lilo sandwich (is that the word ?), as I'm not as talented at avoiding bruises which leave me looking as if I have endured 10 rounds with Mike Tyson, but like it or not I'm talented.
When I was younger I was Mrs Always there. If you had a problem, needed your child taken to A&E, needed almost anything, or were ill for some reason I was the go to neighbour. So I suppose being quite capable of not panicking is my superpower.
I have a talent for writing slogans. I used to win lots of competitions by writing a witty slogan. Sadly these competitions no longer exist. It's all on line now and no talent required.
