Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark , the storm arrived earlier as I could hear howling winds in the night, at the moment its raining with a slight drop of windspeed .
Today after a small local shop, I am planning on getting the bus to Bicester , but will monitor situ once daylight arrives .
Fish & chip day from the chippy before cycling on TV, from warmer climates .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2°, heavy rain falling which is forecast to turn to snow this morning. Not windy though. My thoughts are with GS too today, and her family. Another triumph Grandmattie. A lovely bag.
Today I will go to Aldi as I'm out of basics. Then pick up dgs1 from playgroup. His mum and dad are organising his birthday celebrations. His actual birthday is on Tuesday but they are having an open afternoon tomorrow. He will be very excited. I bought lots of new books for him yesterday to keep at Grandma's house so it'll be interesting to see which he likes. I'm not sure what I fancy for tea tonight. Have a good day all, especially those in the danger zone of Eunice. My thoughts are with you too.

Morning Mick and all

Just seen the weather forecast and we are now in the red zone here in S E Essex, apparently the worst will be between 10am and 3pm. So off to Sainsbury’s early with DH and two GC as it’s half term they have managed to clear the fridge and food cupboards.

Thinking if grannysomerset

Lovely tote bag grandMattie

Sar53 be careful, no walking a,long the seafront today, the same to Gingster , Ashcombe and any other posters close to the coast.

Keep safe and well folks ??‍♀️??

Grandmadinosaur Fri 18-Feb-22 07:52:03

Good morning from a very wet East Yorkshire. I slept well despite the winds howling during the night.

Today I’ll be doing a food shop and then in for the day.

Thoughts for GrannySomerset and family this sad day. ?

Take care everyone.

Lins1066 Fri 18-Feb-22 07:53:56

Good morning all from our corner of the S Welsh coast. We are in the red zone and it is very stormy already, we will stay indoors and hunker down.
Our DD brought forward her plans to travel to Heathrow and is safely ensconced in her hotel, she is ( hopefully ) going to San Francisco tomorrow on the first stage of her US holiday.
Our DS sent a message last night to stay indoors today, charge our phones etc etc - role reversal eh? We are touched by his concern though, he's a good egg.
Thinking of 'GrannySomerset* and the difficult day ahead for her ?

Stay safe everyone.

Pittcity Fri 18-Feb-22 08:10:57

Good morning from a wet and windy Colchester. Apart from the weather it's eerily quiet as the park that surrounds our estate is closed. As we are the furthest East we are not expecting Eunice until after 10am.
Staying in and doing this and that I suppose.
Love to all and an extra hug for grannysomerset ?x

kittylester Fri 18-Feb-22 08:14:29

Good morning all from a calmish North Leicestershire.

Our cleaner will be here shortly so I need to get moving.

Had worrying news of my friend yesterday and then a message from one of DH 's oldest friends who has been told that he needs 2 or 3 new heart valves!!

DH and I both tested negative yesterday so we were able to take Bertie shopping. He is a delight.

Sending strength and very best wishes to everyone who needs them today.

Chris3 Fri 18-Feb-22 08:21:12

Good morning all from so far sunny South Yorkshire but as I write I can see massive black clouds coming over.
A fairly quiet day planned until I pick the grandkids up from school and keep them until tomorrow. Preparing myself for half term and child minding duties next week.
Love that bag grandmattie you are very clever. Hope your husband gets his results quickly.
Thoughts with Grannysomerset today ? and also Linns ?
Have a good day all who can x
Ps. In the time it's taken to write this the sun has gone and it's throwing it down ?

Sar53 Fri 18-Feb-22 08:27:20

Good morning from Essex by the sea. Lots of clouds moving very swiftly by and quite windy. I think we will see it worsen as the morning goes by. I'm not going anywhere today.
Thinking of Grannysomerset on this sad day.
Keep safe everyone until we meet again tomorrow xxx

aggie Fri 18-Feb-22 08:31:41

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Wet here this morning and the edge of the storm passing us later.
I should have been on the train to London but cancelled my ticket after the do not travel message.
DGS is very unwell after his second vaccine on Wednesday. He was poorly last time too. His half term is next week so hopefully he will get chance to rest and get well again.
Thoughts to GrannySomerset today flowers

Newquay Fri 18-Feb-22 08:46:49

Morning from a lurker here in Staffs where it’s overcast and breezy at the mo.
Thinking of all those with necessary journeys and sadness today.
Gagagran-would be interested to hear about help for vertigo please?
Good to hear from Gwen in Harrogate-we met up a couple of weeks ago ? Hoping for our weekly FT from DD2 in Harrogate this morning with 4 year old DGS who always has a tale to tell. We’ve just about «forgiven» him for giving us a bad, lingering head cold and cough after we visited him end of January-needless to say, he recovered very quickly!

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Good morning from a bright sunny but blustery Leicestershire.

Just back from a wonderful few days with the family. We are booked in to go again next month for DGS ‘s birthday. It is so nice we can see each other regularly again.

That is a beautiful bag Mattie you are so clever.
Pleased to see elsewhere that soop is doing so well.
I hope your DD is feeling better Chrissielou and I was sorry to hear about your friend Lins.
Sorry to hear about your concerns kitty.
Thinking of GrannySomerset today I hope it goes as well as can be expected and you take comfort from your family and friends.

Good morning from the edge of South Lanarkshire where I’m dogsitting. Weather fine at the moment, DD and DSiL will get to work but we’re concerned about them getting safely home.

Sending prayers and thoughts for this day to GrannySomerset?

Hope everyone has a decent day with no storm problems

Mapleleaf Fri 18-Feb-22 09:07:05

Good morning from South Yorkshire.

At the moment it is still calm and sunny (after the earlier rain), but it’s definitely the lull before the storm. We just fall into the amber warning where I am, and expect the worst of the wind to arrive by 5 pm - just in time for rush hour ?.

I’ve battened down what I think could have gone “fly about”, so will now just sit it out and hope for the best. I feel for those of you in the red zones - do take care.

EkwaNimitee Fri 18-Feb-22 09:14:20

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle. It was bright and showery when I got up with the full moon still hanging about. Now it's greyed over and the wind is slowly picking up. Only a yellow warning here so nothing too unusual for this part of the country. I'm certainly glad I'm not in my former property though, high above the coast and fully exposed to the southwesters with a big conservatory on the back to worry about. And I did! Fingers crossed for all of you in the red area.

Yesterday the landscapers finished my job and a good one they've made of it. All turf gone out of the back and they've rotovated grit into the heavy clay plus made me a nice roundel on which I think to put a bird bath. I'm going to cover the ground in weed control fabric, mulch it with bark and plant shrubs into it. Hopefully, when that's done it will be reasonably labour-saving. Judging by the weather forecasts, it will be a few days before I get out there. It will be a quiet day in today with the ironing and my rather long book.
The best possible day to all.

Blossoming Fri 18-Feb-22 09:19:07

Good morning Mick and everybody. Grey skies and rain in my corner of Lancashire this morning, currently 6°C.

Heavens Elspeth what an awful experience! Glad it’s sorted now.

You are so skilled Grandmattie, the bag is beautiful.

Thinking of GrannySomerset, hoping the day goes off as well as can be expected.

I have to go out this morning for a dental appointment. Fortunately it’s only a 10 minute drive away so fingers crossed there will be no problems on the roads. After that we will be going nowhere.

Wishing you all the best possible day. May all those with worries find some comfort and all who are under the weather find some relief. ?

Chrissielou Fri 18-Feb-22 09:29:10

A wild morning here in Oxfordshire as expected, but it is sunny! Looking forward to weekend, although nothing very exciting planned. DD1 is feeling and looking a little better, thank you to those who kindly asked. The drugs trial is almost completed and she will shortly begin 6 months of traditional chemo, and all that that entails.
Stay safe everyone, hopes for a calmer day tomorrow.

Hello! Sounds like you may be a fellow sufferer?

The suggestion I had from another Gran was to sit on the side of the bed, bend my head to the left and holding it there, drop onto the bed. I think it's to do with re-positioning crystals in the inner ear which get dislodged and this manoeuvre helps put them back where they should be. Who knows?

I haven't tried it yet as the vertigo has eased a lot now so I am hoping it's sorted itself. I do have an inner ear implant following a stapedectomy some years ago and think it's linked with that. It's not BP as I monitor that at home regularly and it's normal.

Good luck if you have vertigo - it's horrid!

I hope to see pictures after all your hard work EkwaNimitee it sounds wonderful.
Better news Chrissielou long may it last.

dragonfly46 Fri 18-Feb-22 09:49:03

Newquay when I had vertigo the GP twisted my head in certain ways to move the crystals then gave me an exercise sheet similar to Gaga’s suggestion. You may find it on Google.
