What do you wear at home in this hot weather?

I’m asking what you put on when you know that you’re not going out and no one is coming round! I have four loose midi cotton dresses with thin straps, and that’s it. No underwear, just one garment. A clean one every day, but it’s certainly cut down on the washing. It’s not a pretty sight but I’m as cool as is possible. I also keep a spray bottle in the fridge full of water and some 4711 cologne, remember that? Spray face and arms. Cold shower before bed and no nightie.

Knickers and tee shirt, no bra, nothing on my feet

shorts, sleeveless top and skechers as I do a lot of walking with dogs and sandals are not practical.

Thin strappybdress. Usually wear a tee with it but not today so bra straps are well on display.
I have been wearing a nightdress but may abandon that tonight!

thin loose cotton t shirt, cotton pants and silk shorts, Bare feet in house so very cool on kitchen and bathroom floor. Windows open from about 6.30 for an hour and then shut and curtains and blinds closed too, keeping heat out. Water kept cold in fridge to drink.

I find to odd that all you women are quite happy to divulge whether you are wearing underwear or not. One even states that all she is wearing is a hat. I suspect that a lot of men reading these posts will find it all rather exciting to say the least ???

Nothing grin, just as nature intended. We ensure there is a sarong to hand if the doorbell rings. And we sit on a towel or sarong for hygiene purposes. Our washing load has decreased a heck of a lot as a result.

Outside in the garden? A sunhat, and sometimes a long sleeved shirt if I'm working in the garden. DH doesn't burn but I do. Again, a towel or sarong to sit on.

My kaftan was from coolkaftan.co.uk - according to the label

Dearknees1 Fri 12-Aug-22 15:47:47

Nothing unless answering the door.

A few of you wearing kaftans! Where do you buy them please

There’s a lovely choice of Kaftans on Amazon with a good range of sizes and prices , something to suit everyone .

Sarongs rule..and always a sun hat when stepping into garden

fairfraise Fri 12-Aug-22 16:00:58

That reminds me, I have a sarong. Lovely material but not enough in it to make a proper skirt. I don't have the flat stomach to wear it as simply a sarong. It's had multiple uses over the years.

You can't be serious. We're mostly old ladies on here. I'm 73 so the thought of me naked is unlikely to inflame anyone, more likely induce nightmares.

Modompodom Fri 12-Aug-22 16:07:13

Loose linen dresses. Lovely and cool, and respectable if someone comes to the door. I have just returned from visiting family in Italy, and I took 8 linen dresses with me.

MissAdventure Fri 12-Aug-22 16:07:13

Oooh, I forgot about my sarongs, I think one of those, worn tied over my bust, would be very cook on a hot day! I’m going to root through my holiday clothes now.

Today I have the grandchildren so it's cropped trousers, light top, and underwear. If I'm alone it's a long tee shirt and underwear.

crazyH Fri 12-Aug-22 16:41:30

A long, loose T-shirt and panties

Candelle Fri 12-Aug-22 16:56:37

Shopping first thing in maxi cotton dress.

When home I changed into what could grandly be called a djellaba*. I bought three (all colourful cotton, mid/lower calf in length, with elbow length sleeves) from an 'Indian' shop in a nearby town. They were £10-£15 each last year and are beautifully cool, airy and wash well.

I, too, wondered if some smelly old pervert may be enjoying some of our more intimate exchanges! For that reason I won't expressly state what else I am/am not wearing!

I am on our patio under a vast umbrella and have brought out with my our digital barometer. That says the temperature here is 51.7 but has just cut out - overheated! We are south-west facing at this spot.

Mr C is lying prostate (and I had better not tell you what he is wearing lest you have a hot flush). He is in a beautifully cool room with the patio door wide open (and no flies come through whereas in the 'hot rooms' there's almost a queue!).

My GP has just rung to say amongst other things that my blood tests earlier in the week show I am dehydrated, despite my drinking copious amounts of water and being very conscious that at 'our' age, we need to keep hydrated. I mention this as if it has happened to me, it could affect you, too. Keep drinking (water, I mean...!).

*Oh all right, call them kaftans (no so grand...).

elleks Fri 12-Aug-22 17:02:34

Knickers and a loose top. I'm sleeping naked, with a light sheet over me to keep the breeze from the open window off me.

Bijou Fri 12-Aug-22 17:25:10

Loose sleeveless cotton dress and knickers and at my age, a pad.
