We're compiling a party playlist for the Gransnet Virtual Christmas Party. Let us know on this thread what songs you'd like to include. Once your suggestion has received our committee of elves' approval, we'll add it to the playlist. tchgrin

kitty I was singing that song yesterday. I had to look up the beginning of the last verse. I love it and used to sing it to my DD when she was little. Don't know why it came to mind yesterday. How odd

kittylester Sat 15-Dec-18 07:21:01

BB it always makes me cry. It's beautiful.

seasider Sat 15-Dec-18 08:08:08

Oh Kitty Scarlet Ribbons always made me cry and it reminds me of my mum who used to sing it. I also like Mary's Boy Child and though it was not intended to be a Christmas song I like The Power of Love by Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

John Lennon "And so this is Christmas" ...

(I also like Chris Rea's Driving Home for Christmas).

"It was an itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini....."

"Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom Wine" (Eddie Calvert and Trumpet.)

"I'm walking backwards for Christmas" (Spike) tchgrin

“marydoll” yes!
I want a hippopotamus for Christmas. Was on radio 2 this week - possibly the only animal that you cannot buy as a cuddly toy.
All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth

Jalima1108 Sat 15-Dec-18 10:33:49

I think that National Geographics do a cuddly hippo Feelingmyage
Try them or that 'long river' place.

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth
Of course, how could I forget that one, I was singing it last Christmas to a DGC!

Feelingmyage55 Sat 15-Dec-18 10:40:18

Jalima1108. on my Santa list. Off to look at National Geographics website, had forgotten about them.

Jalima1108 Sat 15-Dec-18 10:55:45

I saw it on the long river site Feelingmyage, but if you can get it from NG then all the better! smile
I'll put on the link and hope it is not advertising the site taking over the world!

Wolves are hard to find too! I did eventually on the Long River place but it was getting desperate!

Izabella Sat 15-Dec-18 13:56:59

Mmmmmm. Think I'd better stay off this one. My music taste would, I think, meet with confusion and puzzled looks.

kittylester Sat 15-Dec-18 14:07:51

Try us Izabella.

KatyK Sat 15-Dec-18 14:18:32

I was taught German at school. I learned to sing Silent Night in German and can still remember the whole of the first verse. I hadn't heard it for years and then this week on some daytime TV show or other, Aled Jones and Russell Watson sang it. It's beautiful.

Blinko Sat 15-Dec-18 15:07:46

Silent Night in German (Stille Nacht) and Adeste Fidelis...

Our choir is singing O Holy Night at our Christmas concerts, tonight and tomorrow night. I love the Nat King Cole version.

Me grin
Do you want a link?

Perhaps we could have a separate carol thread for a Gransnetters' Carol Service?
