Being a Grandmother makes me feel so happy when I receive lots of lovely photos of the various things they have done with happy faces. I have four grandchildren and feel that I am so lucky although 2 live quite a distance away they visit at holiday times which makes it feel so very special and they manage to see their Great Grandmother (my mum) and stay with her for a week or so.

The many opportunities to experience the world through a child's eyes again and from time to time participating in activities that are definitely not normally recommended for octogenarians!

The little hand in mine!

The best thing about being a grandparent is their unconditional love and being able to share bath and story time with them.

Being able to have all the good with none of the bad!

A big hug. Having someone who wants to share. My 6 grand children are only small 1- 8years. It feels good when they want to help. Cooking, putting the family washing out when they stay. Watching their little shows. Listening to the new songs they have learnt. Team chats of what we are going to do next. Laughing and crying over our miss haps. Just being together is the best.

When they look up at you with their little puppy dog eyes, my heart melts every time.

I had no idea the whole grand-parenting thing was going to be such a pure delight - from reversing into you to sit on your lap, holding hands, saying they love you at any odd moment of the day, being as at home with you as they are at their own home, rushing out of playgroup with the biggest smile and asking for a cuddle, doing anything with them in tow is acceptable, that you might not want to do on your own, them knocking at the door and so pleased to start telling you something before you have time to open the door, the phrases they come out with, sitting on the settee with one each side, both eager to see the pictures in the book you're reading - I guess I mustn't go on and on, but as you gransnetters know the list is endless and every moment with them priceless. Enjoy.

My favourite thing about being a grandparent is my grandkids. The unconditional, non judging love they give, the fun they bring and the pure appreciation of every little moment you spend with them. The love knows no bounds they have no expectations.

All 5 coming into our bed for their 'morning story'. Bliss.

I get a kiss, don’t mind the snotty nose, a hug and a high five every time I leave, the best words I hear are, nana , when are we going to your house as she pack her knapsack

Heather51 Sat 06-Oct-18 12:07:26

The lovely cuddles from both of the grandchildren!

Mopsx4 Sat 06-Oct-18 12:07:39

When their little faces light up when they know I am coming to visit ( we live 200 miles from one set the others in NZ) and the way they think you have the solution to lots of situations and only Mops will do!!!!!

I just love their cheeky honesty, fun and cuddles!

The best thing is being able to spend quality time with them without having to be there 24/7. I had to rush over to help my daughter the other day because she had to get an emergency doctor's appointment. It was an half an hour's drive away so she was already in with the doctor when I arrived. I went into the surgery room to relieve her of my two year old granddaughter and she jumped into my arms and shouted, ' Nanny's come back again' as if I'd only been away a short time instead of days!

dirgni Sat 06-Oct-18 12:22:21

“ I love you granny “!
